Maya Tutorial: PFTrack To Maya
In this Autodesk Maya 2017 tutorial I show you how to go from PFTRack to Maya 2017. How to do a camera track and solve using User Tracks and Auto Tracks in PFTrack and then how to add test objects to your scene - then how to export the camera tracking data and how to import the camera tracking data that you exported from PFTrack into Maya 2017.
You can download Maya 2017 for free from the Autodesk website using the Free Education License. You the Maya 2017 for free and you can use the Arnold renderer for free! One of the best renderers used in most Hollywood films for free!

When I made my user track node it doesn't seem to stay still like yours. One more question lol.. Is it possible to export a animated geometry (not particle mesh) from realflow to Maya?

what about scale ? how does maya scene scale apply to this, waht if we have big objects like a deer, but we cant scale it cus of fur and stuff, if the deer was made in feet and the scene is in feet, the track camera is small after importing, what do we do ?

Thank you for those great tutorials. I do get perfect tracking and perfect motion of test objects in PFTrack but when I export to Maya, any 3D objects I place do slightly skid. Any idea why that might be?

Hi Fred, check your starting frame - sometimes if it's out by 1 frame it skids. Let me know if that helps!

I'm going to guess the same thing applies if you want to export to 3DS Max? Though since Max has its axis inverted compared to Maya, do you have to orient the camera a different way in PFTrack when going to Max?

Hey awsome tutorial, i have a question, can you make a tutorial how to render out Specular or Reflection mask to use in post on maya with arnold renderer?

Thanks! i mean like an object on a table (bottle etc...) the table is reflactive (or have specularity values on it ) and in the mask only the specular eflaction of the bottle on the table showing without the hdr or the lighting. sorry for my English I hope you understand what I mean if not ask me also i can send you a picture if needed.

Hey! Does it have to be an image sequence? I cant seem to import .mov files into PFtrack? If so its quite cumbersome to have to turn every clip into a image sequence.

Hi - it's always too practice to use image sequences when doing VFX and moving between applications because you eliminate the frames per second issue etc. So yep - always try to work with image sequences when doing VFX. Hope that helps.

If we had to import sequence to export in maya then why did you import the video in your 1st tutorial , you just did it to increase your watch time , SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED .
