And Vin, when you refer to personal Pagan curiosities, you're speaking of sacrificial polytheism and not the People Against Goodness And Normalcy, correct? 😉 I've read "Lost Christianities." It's one of Ehrman's most interesting efforts in my opinion. The rest of your options look great. I'm ashamed to have missed out on Bertrand Russell so far. And however the book's contents turn out, I LOVE the word "Heathenry." 😁
I was brought up by a very strict fundamentalist, we fell out when I was old enough to think for myself. I also had a Jewish grandfather, who encouraged me to find out about my Yiddish heritage. I am very interested in all religion, but am an agnostic humanitarian, yet I find the subject of religion fascinating.
Oh I also wanted to add: Hitchens Portable Atheist is pretty good. Its a collection of essays from prominent atheists on the subject. It's worth checking out in my opinion.
A literary fuzzy headed atheist here. I've circled around Maybe Midrash for years - I really need to start taking notes on likely combinations of books so I can participate next year! I’ll be interested how you get on with your selections.
