If women truly are unhappier today I really don't think it has anything to do with having a community. Everywhere I go I see girls exercising together. Shopping together. Drinking at bars together. Most women I know do indeed have a circle of friends. I think their unhappiness comes from constantly comparing themselves to other women. Women have always done this but social media just made it even easier to compare yourself to people that have more than you.

i just moved to Austria from Eastern europe. Since then I've head a 18 year old talk with pride how she is having sex since 13-14 with 20 guys a week. Sorry you treat yourself like a public toilet and then wonder why no one loves you? that's just stupid. most of the current generation will end up single and depressed. from that point of view the west is in a sharp decline. If somehow...through some luck i find the one girl, the rest of western society can die in a mushroom cloud, i really don't care and nothing too important will be lost. Coming from a place where morals were and still are important to some people and seeing this debauchery it's making me feel sick. I worked in an office environment for 20 years from the age of 27, up until then I worked in and engineering shop floor role. When I got into the office I was surrounded by these successful women lol, passive aggressive, backstabbing etc, I left because of an accident and haven't been able to even conceder going back, everyone keeps saying when you going back to work? Id literally rather live on benefits and work on my house and garden whilst looking for something to support myself.

You mentioned multigenerational friendship/society among women formerly, but I believe it's also multiclass too. I've been reading older literature lately from multiple cultures, and more affluent female characters spending most of their time with their maids-usually the same age group-has been one of the common occurrences through all that I've read so far.

Society has failed on holding women accountable for their own unhappiness. They always blame their husbands or their jobs etc. They have to have the emotional intelligence to look within and say I’m the reason I’m unhappy and quit blaming everybody else.

As a man, I have spent many years of my life being directly insulted BY WOMEN, and told that I am "not wanted", "not needed" and that I "am worthless, because I am a man"!! I have had women, in many instances lie to me, cheat on me, accuse me of things I never did, or said, or even blame me for things I had absolutely ZERO control over!! And some of these even goes back to my own mother, growing up in a household where I was constantly blamed for things I never actually did!! So by the time I hit high school, I had developed a drinking problem and a drug habit, and constantly made to feel "alone" and isolated, to the point where socially I didn't really interact with most people especially women!! And my years as an adult, like I just said, were spent being accused, projected too, insulted and more!! To say that, now at 58 years old, I am bitter towards women is an understatement!! And yet women have caused these feelings in me of mistrust, disrespect, and harboring feelings of contempt towards their gender at all costs!! I have been lied to, controlled, manipulated, accused, cheated on, physically beat upon, emotionally abused, taken advantage of, and taken for granted so many times in my life, that the list of names is as long as my arm!! And that list not only includes former lovers, two ex wives and a host of so called "female friends" that I have to include a number of other "associates" in it as well, like co workers and such!! Where I am going with this is a lot of women I have known create their own brand of misery!! They have totally unrealistic expectations for situations that often enough they have ZERO control over, then think "They know better"!! They blindly follow emotions when they dislike facts, logic, rational thought and reason!! And constantly think as though "the world owes them something" when it doesn't!!! And then they demand respect without understanding that you EARN RESPECT, BY SHOWING RESPECT!!! And in many cases think they are the center of the universe and that the world revolves around them when it clearly doesn't!! In short being a man is lonely and heart breaking!! And for every woman who thinks "men have it easy", they fail to realize just how empty the life of most men, truly is!!!! Because at the end of the day, as a man.......all us guys have is ourselves!! And when you, as a man are blamed literally for everything, and constantly painted as a villain, then the only solace you have is being alone, anyhow!!

Guy here - I totally agree it would be nice to have male/female only spaces - not everywhere, but enough. We're very, very different in most things. In the past couple years, I've noticed my workplace becoming much more "feminized" meaning there is less focus on work and a strong focus on literally treating your coworkers as your family, and a huge focus on feeling and never making anyone feel bad, and almost no focus on just accomplishing work effectively. There is a certain salary budget, and the company needs to make money to perpetuate. So we are _literally_ in competition in some sense with our coworkers, so that's always going to be opposition of any sense of "community" in the workplace. Lots of "getting to know you" activities and being asked odd questions that will probably be later be used against you. I am far less happy at work as a result. Also a massive focus on communicating the same thing in 10 places, rather than trusting that responsible adults will read communications. Everything has become less efficient, and less meaningful. When men and women are so different, making everything comfortable everywhere is impossible, and at best, will just make everyone uncomfortable everywhere.

Some people get married and it’s like prison, they stop seeing all their friends. It’s psychotic. This goes for both men and women. I have friends that can’t grab a beer not even once in a while for the life of them. It’s extremely unhealthy.

You just reminded me of our long-ago annual deer hunt camp. Once in a while somebody would screw up and actually kill a deer. Then we had to deal with yucky stuff like butchering the animal. However, most of the time is was just a male-bonding thing with married guys getting away from their wives, drinking, playing poker, staying up late, sleeping in, swapping outlandish stories and jokes, and generally just being guys. Of course, Brittany, being from rural Idaho, probably knows all about this yearly male ritual.

In my experience, in the workplace, tensions generally don't arise between men and women but much more frequently between women themselves - and many women have confirmed to me that they feel the same.

I concur women are no longer multi-generationally connected. The young women demonstrate disdain for "old-think". Online social influence has contributed to this bigotry. Women alone know very little about the practical real world.

The "pick me" insult is bizarre. Not just because you often see it thrown at women who ate married and not looking to be "picked." But because the opposite is surely a "skip me" girl, one who doesn't want people to be interested in her. If wanting g to positively interact with the opposite sex is negative it speaks volumes.

When I was growing up in Suburbia, the Mothers would have Coffee Clutches in the Morning and then often meet in the Afternoon for their Day Time TV Soap Operas, but the laundry and the cleaning and the cooking would somehow still always get done. The Men had bowling leagues and Card Games, and back then most WORK was still men only. Those were the Good Ol Days.

A great topic! I have had a really difficult time since my mother and mother in law died. My sister lives 1000 miles away and aside from my church, or online sometimes, I have no strong female relationships. The isolation associated with homesteading and homeschooling, raising 3 children with my 4th on the way is very real and very difficult at times. My husband works from home, so we are a team and he has his work realm and I have mine and it's such a blessing. What I'm saying is, women's groups and going to play dates at libraries and parks ends up with me listening to a group of left wing, intersectional blabbering and I'd cherish even just one good female connection with my values, lifestyle, faith, etc. Women need other women Elders to teach us about marriage and child rearing and homemaking and moms need mom friends. Most women do feel isolated, or if they're not married and have no children (SINKS) they complain for being "left behind" because they can't really relate to those friends anymore. Many men received the message they were not required. Whether it was through romantic rejection or feminist slogans, many men like myself understand we are not required. As men, we are wired to handle being alone. The women who cast us away, I wonder how being alone is working for them.

I have an analog clock that is broken but it has the right time twice a day. I should therefore keep it and not throw it out.

The idea that women were alone without any man , is ignoring that the were always older men too. And in most larger tribes some men were left to guard. Men were often alone hunting, fishing and so on.

Right after the wedding my X wife became lazy, got fat, and became bossy and entitled/demanding. The classic “Bait and Switch”. That was a lesson learned. No way in hell I would pay a dime to “date” another woman knowing she has been smashed by multiple other men for $0 and yet she as she ages she will expect me..the “nice guy” to treat her like a princess. That is absurd.

My kids were born in the late 80s-early 90s, back before the internet and before motherhood was openly denigrated. But it was an incredibly lonesome experience. I lived in metro Washington DC and found only one friend amongst a huge Catholic community. Eventually we had to move further out to find a house and that was even more isolating. I look back and recall it as a very depressing time which I’m sure colored my sons’ views on family life. They’re not married and I doubt there will be any grandchildren, ever. It’s true that my husband wasn’t really interested in his own children until they were adults. I had done a lot of sociological research in college which showed me how women were very connected with each other until they got the vote and I’m convinced that suffrage was a net negative for us, just as feminism has been a disaster. It’s hard to cope when many if not most of the people like yourself (other women) think you’re wasting yourself by raising your children. My husband was constantly pushing me to get out and work. I think we tend to forget that men are more into feminism than we realize initially. It’s in the water so to speak.

Modern womyn are in direct competition with each other for resources; they will often act as "crabs in a bucket", constantly pulling other womyn down. "Single women keep other women single." Womyn LIE to each other all the time ("You're a QUEEN!"; "You're perfect ("amazing") just the way you are!"; "You DESERVE a better man and to be happy!" Note: none of us "deserve" anything from anyone else- it must be EARNED.). They will especially lie when it comes to relationships. Men should NEVER take dating advice from womyn! Womyn in the work force are now discovering that, in addition to competition for relationships, they face work place competition just as Men always have. Rather than making their lives easier, womyn have deliberately made choices which make their lives harder. Then they're unhappy. It's not rocket science, yet far too few womyn grasp it.

Possibly unpopular male opinion. These days, women seem to fight only over the "top 10%" of men. Those men get all the action and have the ability to simply move from one to the next, leaving an emotional void for their castaways. And not to sound misogynistic, because I have no problem with career minded women if that's what they choose, but I think the radical feminists have taught women that their only way to be happy is to be totally career focused and basically "anti-man". The idea of being a "stay at home mom" is frowned upon. This creates two additional problems. First, I think that women are hard-wired for that role, despite being brainwashed otherwise by modern culture. Sure, it's not for every woman, and I'd never suggest it is. But I do think it's a majority. You chase happiness through career success, but it never really fulfils you. Secondly, as a man, I'm not really looking for a driven, career minded woman. It's certainly not an automatic "no", but it's a clear indication that we have different values and goals. So yes, I think both men and women are unhappy today because, in a nutshell, we've destroyed the natural order of things. Strip away all the social conditioning, and men are the hunters and providers, and women are the caretakers and nurturers. Equal in terms of rights? Absolutely. I'm not talking Handmaid's Tale here. But we ARE different.

Women were only able to get along when they lived under patriarchy and society wasn't constructed around accommodating the lower aspects of their nature (attention seeking behaviors for example.) They would probably police each other on these things but they were ultimately enforcing the social order of men. They were forced to be virtuous but those days are pretty much over save a few outliers here and there (like Brittany.) "Pick me" is about unattractive women wanting to neutralize the competition of more attractive women by gas lighting them into thinking something's wrong with them for normal female behavior like wanting to look nice and acting pleasant in order to try to attract a quality man. The core tenant of leftism that everything is a social construct and there is no objective aspect for things like attractiveness so it's a major cope for people with real and imagined inferiorities. Instead of trying to do the best with the hand they were dealt which is what men do, often in quiet desperation and not many people feel bad for us when we struggle. In fact these same feminist women who supposedly believe that beauty standards for women are a social construct seem to be enthusiastic these days in insulting men for being too short, not well endowed enough etc. Which is why no man in his right mind should ever feel bad for a modern feminist woman as she brings about her own decline with the choices she makes.

Today, women compete: 1) with other women for romance, sex, and marriage; 2) with men and women in the economic sphere -- throughout their whole adult lives; 3) and with a feminism-derived set of ideals that are exhausting at best; lethal at worst. The delicacy and fragility of marriage is a contributor here. Add Paglia's insight about the disappearance of the purely female space, stir well, and stand well back!

They are unhappy because research shows that what they desire in a man changes from day to day according to the time of their month. And therefore it is very difficult for them to sustain anything for the long term.

The number of young people who don't go to church or list themselves as "nones" (meaning have no religion) has skyrocketed in recent years. Families are also smaller than they used to be and tend to be separated geographically due to work or school. I think there's a connection between those trends and what you discuss in the video. Strong churches used to provide the community, support, encouragement, and sex-segregated bonding opportunities that men and women both need. Organic community is a necessity for healthy societies. Thank you for this excellent video.

Stop the cap. Social media connects people faster than ever, and no one can keep up with how fast women's feelings change, and that is how we have built our legal system to currently reward.

These days it's not special to be a woman...anybody can be a woman....even a man! 😖...and sadly, women condone poor treatment (e.g. women letting men compete against women in sports, and parade around the women's locker room naked...because "I don't want to lose my swimming scholarship"). I say this as a longtime anti-feminist and proud advocate for the patriarchy ... Dr. Camille Paglia is a rare treasure! I only wish she didn't refer to herself as a feminist. But I also recognize that in order to change an institution from the inside, she had to become a member of that cult. Paglia also discusses the toxicity of the nuclear family. She explains that the nuclear family removed both men and women from their power base and stabilizing factors - the network of extended family. This speaks to my soul - as an Army brat, US Soldier, and government contractor who has drug my nuclear family around the globe, multiple times in my life. Paglia earned her doctorate in the 1970s as women returned in force to corporate America. Her observations of women's unhappiness and emotional decline begins a decade later in the 1980s. The phenomenon has only grown worse for each generation beyond that time. And for anyone who wants to understand the "why" of this social phenomenon, I strongly recommend a quick study of John Calhoun's research study Behavioral Sink (1970). Calhoun was studying the impact of overpopulation on mammals in utopian conditions. What he discovered was something quite different - the deadly and catastrophic effects of disrupting male-female courtship and offspring rituals. Scary read.

It's really quite simple. The natural law provides men and women with a different moral aim and purpose, a specific telos. If we stray from this telos and do not strive to fulfill our purpose under the natural law, we will be miserable.

The "pick me" label is bizarre to me. Like many of the things feminists label, it is very often misapplied. Most of the "pick mes" are often either women who are single by their own choice or are married, sometimes for decades, and have no motivation for finding a partner. Also, the fact that the term refers to girls who say that they are not like the others implies that the people who use the term know on some level that the views that they push is hateful. They wouldn't see them as deviants otherwise. I don't see the problem with women calling out the behaviors that feminism encourages, if anything the fact that they are women makes them more likely to have an impact because it hits them right in the false sisterhood, bonds between women that are made because they think they are opressed rather than having a common interest so they lack any real substance. Sure they can also be hit with "internalized misogyny" but all that implies is that they think women are too stupid to form their own thoughts and opinions that exist outside of the feminist hivemind.

I'm not a woman, but it seems to me that women have always been in deep competition with each other. At least when I looked at the friend groups of the women I knew in college it was always hard to tell if any of them even liked each other, let alone were friends, because once you separate them the viciousness always came out. So you take that attitude so many women have towards each other in a generally non competitive setting like college, where they have all their needs easily met, and put those same people in the real world where they not only compete for men and resources and social status but also compete against men for jobs and promotions and raises, and recognition. What universe will that create happier women? Most men, especially husbands would have flippantly said that their wives are never happy before all of this. That they were always fussing, or nagging, or worrying. Now you give them even more things to be unhappy and worry about and you're surprised that its worse?

My wife does much better when she socializes with other women. If she doesn't get quality time with women she becomes dependent on me for her need for conversation, affirmation and nurturing. This, of course, puts too much pressure on me and, ultimately, she struggles with depression.

One of my friends wife is, I guess, feminist and she feels pretty unhappy, though maybe I'm imagining. Most of stuff she talks about just spoils the mood, whenever its about a guy at her workplace earning more money than her or when just talking about shows/movies dissing any male character (and not in any clever way). And I guess her circle of friends are no more, since if you disagree with her regarding any serious issue, you are horrible person.

Can I say something, as a man (with a job by the way so no I'm not a dead beat, am I on top of the world? No, heck I am also struggling, but hear me out). Have you ever heard of the saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too?" Women, ask yourselves, if ever, maybe I'm wrong, but if ever there was a man who said.... "I want to go to work, provide for my family, give birth to my kids, nurture my kids and wife...." basically think women, really ask yourselves, when was there ever a man (and sure there have always been bad men, just like there have been bad women over time, men just took the bad wrap because if I go to a place and get bad service I will wanna speak to the OWNER or MANAGER, whether they be a MAN or a WOMAN, and if things are not going so well, MEN will be the people blamed because no matter which ideology or religion you look at, men have always supposed to have been the MANAGERs of what was going on around earth mainly due to the main differences between how men and women think - I am not saying women are not important, but rather I think if men failed women, they did not love them enough, because if our forefathers showed the women that came before that they were so IMPORTANT THAT THE VERY EARTH would not EXIST the way it is today, as NO ONE CAME INTO THIS WORLD THROUGH THEIR FATHERS WOMB BUT THROUGH THEIR MOTHERS WOMB I think right now we wouldn't maybe have this problem). One thing is evident, forget about even sex or anything like that. You can just see how they relate to each other, that these two people are "selfless" for one another. It's almost like whatever the one tries to do around the other, no matter what it is, they do it completely taking first how the other person feels, then themselves afterward. At the end of the day, I don't care what your belief is, I don't care what your ideology is. But I will tell you one saying, that even men understood back then (which is why we never would say we want to be the MAN and THE WOMAN - AT THE SAME TIME, heck some women will even tell you WE DO NOT NEED MEN EVEN, JUST WOMEN) - NO MAN, IS AN ISLAND. No man is an island, (by the way the word man there comes from mankind, meaning women too, if you did not know, a woman and a man are both a type of mankind too, a woman is also a member of mankind and a human being). This saying means that even the most lonely person, be it a man or a woman, even if they had all the resources they needed, would still to keep sane require to socialize with someone at the very least. We ALL NEED ONE ANOTHER. MEN NEED WOMEN, WOMEN NEED MEN. Do you know when the world, which has always had problems, when the problems of the world became so much worse? When it went from WOMAN AND MAN, TO WOMAN VS. MAN. There is no creature on this earth, intelligent as humans may be, not even the most simple of creatures, in which the male and the female half of the two animals fight each other. Even insects where the MAN by the way, has to risk his very life in order to mate, knowing that afterwards he will be EATEN by the lady sadly, he lays down his life to be with her first, and her with him, thereafter once he has been together with this woman, he doesn't mind what happens to him. A lot of women ask, what do men want? A man that loves a woman only wants the best for that woman, to make sure she is happy, just that some men don't get that not every one is attracted to everyone else, someone may like you, you may not like them and vice versa, you just move on. Rather than bother that person. They are not bad for not liking you, they just don't, neither does it mean if they don't like you no one will ever like you, it just means you guys weren't meant to be. For a man to say it is the womans fault, and fight her, and for a woman to say it is the mans fault and fight him, is for him and her to literally start to inflict harm on themselves directly. The weird thing is it wasn't men that did this, no we may not be perfect, but weirdly enough, it was when women got the power over men, that they decided - hey lets basically destroy the other half of the human population of the world. Let us wage war on our own people, let us take all our anger and frustrations from past present and future on the other half of humanity. Keep in mind it is one thing to not treat someone fairly but know that no matter what you still can't live without them. It is another thing entirely to say oh yeah right lets not only treat them even worse than they ever treated all of us, but on top of that we don't even require them to be alive - aka we don't need to love them, or them us, we don't need them at all. We can live WITHOUT the lot of them. The problem with fighting fire with fire is that if we all go around putting out each others eyes in retribution over how one us of us was blinded by the supposed enemy, in the end once the dust settles and all is said and done, we'll all be milling about blind as bats. And by the way, if you look at all the hormones in a man or a woman, that make us a man or a woman, having a sweet voice, or the ability to bring forth another human being (which by the way is a WONDERFUL thing), or bigger muscles, or a deeper voice, women have a bit of men in them, and men have a bit of women in them. In other words, we may be different, but we are still family, we are still one. A cool symbol people like to say is the ying yang, there is a little woman in every man, who by the way no man comes into this world without their mother and the joining of a man and a woman up the line of our ancestors. And likewise there is a little man in every woman. I can tell you who is looking at all this and laughing and saying man I really got them this time. Look at them running around and around in circles in the dark hitting each other and harming each other rather badly while thinking all the while they can solve this whole thing by more running around and more hitting each other. The devil. This world, it forgot Jesus Christ. If we look back at any great civilization just before they fell, no matter how powerful they were, and no matter which religion you subscribe to or if you are even religious we can see that the moment people forget God in that society, is the moment the society destroys itself from within.

As a man, I would add that men lost this men safe spaces too. Army, work especially if we are talking about men centric jobs aka construction, heavy machinary, hunting, sailing, fishing etc. What made boy to man - other men. And nowdays boys are still remain boys even if they hit 30-40. They are raised by single moms, aunts or if there are men in a family - they are shell of what man is, dormant and obidient, quietly passively sitting in the corner. In a school, university are women dominated and women centric fields, there are almost no male teachers, in your workplace for majority of jobs you would be surrounded by women as well. Obviously not all men are like this and there exception, but I don't think it is great trajectory to remove such male safe spaces completely is good idea.

Either watch the video or start to listen to your heart/feelings/your instinct. If you dont know how to do that : The first thought that crosses your mind at this moment is it.

I find that I can see this sense of community at our parish. The women spend a great deal of time with other women, either helping with children or just working together on many projects in the parish. (The men also tend to group together and "catch up" with one another and work on certain project together). But the spaces you discuss exist in a wonderfully natural manner within this community.

I have one advise to young men.Never get married to the modern western women. Have a gf..but never let her move in with you and have access to your assets/$$$. The government/law/other women/feminists are all against men. Stay safe.

You´re so right, that is what I tell everyone and what I struggle with. Feeling alone as a young mother even made me understand other mothers who tell me that they have to work only to socialize... I am hopeful though that women like us are working on female companionship and support :)
