The way I see it, this is for kids with suicidal thoughts/ depression. Growing up, I lost it all when my best friend died. Also, when the first boy entered the house at the beginning, there was a bottle of pills, as if someone took them, maybe him, maybe his parents. Anyways. The forest was a place for the kids to escape and be safe with eachother, they can hold onto eachother and each other's childhood together. Two of the kids could be going through a similar situation with eachother and they argue a lot, hense the problems. The forest is the place for them to go, "no place to go and you're left all alone." Theres no place like home is referencing to the significant other, while you may not have anywhere to physically go, you are my home. My take on it anyways.
They did well with the video in my mind it kind of represents that not only do teenagers feel depression but so do small children but adults so commonly think that we aren't depressed at all that it's only something that they can feel because "Teenagers don't even know what hardship is!" I'm grateful for this Thank you
this video perfectly captures what the internet can do. kids who don't belong at school or are just unhappy, finding mutual interests and becoming close with people over the internet. idk i just found this really relatable because as different as you feel, there are still other people out there who are going through the same things as you
Thanks to this song for being our first dance song at our wedding. Everyone bawled their eyes out and I'm happy we all did. Song made the moment that much more beautiful
I see people saying how the video didn't relate to the song, but i think it did. The song (in my opinion) is about two people who have problems and even though they don't understand each others problems 100% they are still there for each other. that's what the video is saying all of these kids and teens have their own problems but they are helping each other find happiness.
I can't even describe how this song makes me feel. Whenever it comes on I can feel the stress and discomfort go away and it's like everything disappeared and makes me feel like i'm at peace. I love this song and Mayday Parade so much.
I literally feel the same way you do right now! Mayday was my childhood and I feel like part of my life as well. Went back to listen to A Lesson In Romantics and it just brings out such strong emotions. Even after jason left I think derek kept that emotional side in the band. Like you said I think it's too strong for words.
Yeah.. Derek does keep the emotional side. That and there's just something about the way he sings.. His voice, even, is just full of emotions. I love it.
holy shit this is 2.5yo now. I still remember when they only teased the video before actually releasing it. I am forever not gonna get tired of this song/video.
The song by itself seems really love orientated. I like the video though. It shows something else besides the typical love story. They're finding their place. Outcasts and troubled kids are banding together to make each other feel less alone.
I know I've got my problems and it starts with me She saw something inside that I can't see And late at night, yeah she'll comfort me Hold onto me, hold onto me I got a nervous habit and I drink too much She said she hates her life and wants to change her ways She wakes in the night and whispers Oh so quiet Hold onto me, hold onto me Don't you ever leave, Don't you ever leave I know I've got my problems and it's probably me So hold onto me, hold onto me Stayed up too late and it hurts to breathe Said it's 4 A.M., girl go back to sleep Sometimes at night I can hear her dreams Come rescue me, Come rescue me Don't you ever leave, Don't you ever leave I know we got our problems and it's probably me So hold onto me, hold onto me I'm a drifter's body in an open sea And I've seen my reflection staring right back at me With no place to go and you're left all alone There's no place like home Hold onto me, hold onto me Just stay with me, Just stay with me I know we got our problems and you'll probably leave So hold onto me, hold onto me I could never leave, I will never leave So hold onto me, hold on to me
i personally like the video, i think it fits with the song perfectly. Mayday Parade have always been one of my favourite bands and part of the reason for that is because they let the listener be creative too. Their songs/videos allow each viewer to have their own take on the story being told. It's open to interpretation and you can all have a different opinion on the story as long as it makes you feel something. They makes you think, and to think is to be alive, and that's why i'm so glad i have this band.
I remember hearing them play live in Houston, Tx 3and a half years ago and when they played this song, the whole room was intrigued and captivated by the words to these lyrics. I remember singing along to the lyrics, and all of us strangers to each other, coming as one relating to this beautiful song. It was such a mesmerizing experience. I met them all before the concert started and couldn't have been more happy as I was in that moment in my life. They were so genuine and can honestly tell that they care about their fans. I stopped listening to them for a while but coming back after so long really hits home. This is still such an amazing song even 4 years later.
I am so happy to see that Mayday Parade decided to make a video for one of my top favorite songs off the new album! Can't wait to see the boys again this summer at warped tour!!! :)
No one should think the song has nothing to do with the video, everyone has different views. When we listen to the song itself we imagine it how we interpret the words and what feelings we get. This is just how Derek must have seen the lyrics.
This is just beautiful. Thanks guys for making such gorgeous and meaningful music. They video is just awesome. I love all those kids looking for their place in the world.
amazing as always for them. I knew this song would be a hit because it reminds me of Stay, and that like this, was also beautiful. they deserve all the recognition they're finally getting and I can't wait to see them at warped. Rock on, guys.
I love this song. it brings me back to memories of me and my best friends. We all live in different states now, but we all still talk. watching this makes me want to move back and be with them all again.
