What does "by the people for the people of the people mean"? A Republic is a is a form of government in which the rulers are elected by the people...Not the mob!
Wrong. A Republic is a form of democracy. A "pure" democracy is where everyone has a say in every decision of government. The best example of this is New England Town Halls of the 18th century. A Republic is a form of democracy where we elect representatives to make decisions for us.

A Republic is a democracy. But instead of the people deciding on EVERY decision of government (a "pure" democracy), the people elect representatives to make those decisions, bot at the national and local levels.
Nice video. However, you have left out the REASON why the Mayflower was so over-crowded, and WHY it sailed so late in the season. Answer: they originally had TWO boats. Speedwell and Mayflower. On their first attempt to sail, August 5, 1520 Speedwell was leaking. They returned to Dartmouth in Devon for repairs. They set sail a second time, and the Speedwell leaked again. Returned again to Dartmouth for repairs. The Leiden Congregation decided to consolidate into one boat, Mayflower, and leave part of the group behind to sell off the Speedwell and get another boat. Of the original 120 split between two boats, 102 piled onto the Mayflower, and left for the THIRD time September 6, 1620. When they sold off the Speedwell, they found out it was leaking because the scum-sucking cowardly crew had been poking holes in the boat. Evidently they were too scared to make the round trip. Because these weasels kept sabotaging the boat, the Mayflower was overcrowded, and set sail later than they wanted. Subsequently, they got caught in a mid-Atlantic hurricane (probably the edges of it) and the high-force winds not only blew them off course to Cape Cod, but it also broke the main mast. Which is the real reason they had to stay put until spring to cut down a tree for their replacement mast. Those who stayed behind to get a new ship came over in 1621 in the Fortune.
Your Right the US Constitution was more clearly based on the Iroquois Confederacy complete with the Eagle and the Tree of Liberty than the Mayflower Compact. The Mayflower Compact can be read as the First attempt at Communism in the new World. It failed predictably with the starvation of half of the inhabitants. The Word Communism would have to wait another 300 years to be coined by Marx and another 100 years to be implemented by Soviet Russia. Same results, starvation. America is again, giving the Idea of everything to everyone, once more after 400 years. Slow learners, the Mayflower was the "Short Bus" to the New World.
Self government existed in the New World long before the Mayflower, or any other white Europeans arrived. Native American tribes were all self governmen. It worked for them for centuries.
