The best cover of Give It One I've ever heard in 40 years!! The blend/balance/precision is the closest to the original studio version than any other, and the arrangement is out of this world!! Loved it!! Great solos too.
Loved it! I played trombone with Maynard at the Stage Band Festival in Toronto, BBC recorded us playing Give It One. I know no one has left any recent comments. I'm sure the band is long gone, and I wish I could tell them all how fabulous they all were.
Wonderful! After seeing Maynard take this almost to the point of spontaneous human combustion it's so refreshing to hear it work at a relaxed and funky tempo.
I love Maynard, but you guys elevated this song to a new and amazing height! I was absolutely stunned with what you did here....Bravo! I applaud you....
I've listened to the original Maynard cut of this a thousand times, but man, this is one awesome cover. Love the more relaxed funky beat. And Oleg does sound a lot like Maynard's style.
I'm a diehard old school Maynard fan and I like what you've done with this. Good to see that MF's music will live on in the next generation. That's got to be the wildest trumpet I've ever seen. Great playing from all musicians!
Funky! Love this tempo and the off-beat feel from the original. And the drums - they say "Peace", but sure look like Peavey Radials from back in the day. Cheers!
Holy smokes ! I’ve heard that song for 48 years from Maynard’s recordings . Yours is a mite slower And I like it better Super trombone solo Fab lead trumpet control Pjenomenal
I love playing trumpet. Oleg solos fantastically and the trombone soloist just completely blew me away as well! Very inspiring to see musicianship at this level, please never stop playing your instruments!
Wow.......... came here from a group playing it super fast and it appeared hard for them to keep up..... This is the first time I've ever heard it slowed down and I have to say I like it better..... You get an added glimpse of the amazing harmonies within the score. The group.......pfffffffffft R O C K S O L I D! Can't think of anything else, I have marked this a favorite and will continue to listen/watch OVER and OVER. Bravo!
Fantastic Oleg!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the arrangement and you all sound GREAT!!!!!!!!! Come to Chicago - we have some excellent repairmen here that can fix your bell. :-)
WOW!!! As a long time die-hard Maynard Ferguson fan and someone who hosted one of his concerts in the 80's, I can say that you did far more than just do this song justice! I love the arrangement, the tempo, the bass line, the trumpet playing and those trombones and trombone solo - fantastic!
OMG I am such a fan tonight. Never heard of you. Everyone sounds incredible. And the trombonist is absolute killer! What a great solo. And I love the take on Maynard's arrangement. It's a little slower but burns hotter!!
Long-time Maynard Ferguson fan here. Have some of the MF Horn vinyl albums (2, 3, 4-5 'Live at Jimmy's', Chameleon, etc.) Nicely done guys and gals - awesome job!
Fantastic - many commented that the tempo was too slow. Man - I think it makes the piece more difficult - so Bravo on them. I remember taking the tempo up -so it would less strenuous- event though the staccato of the notes on the melody got to be crazy hard- I think MF has an up tempo version on YOuTube - which I don't think sounds good! This version is great!!! And that trombone solo!!!
Nicely done guys. This and "Country Road" are my two favorite Ferguson songs. Great melody with just the right amount of high range. Maynard sometimes sacrificed the melody line to keep the high range going but you nailed it here.
I played the original (Maynard's part) years ago and just love this song, but this is by far the BEST version/rendition of this classic Maynard tune I have ever heard. FANTASTIC!!! Where can I hear more of this AWESOME group???
This was released in 1972 at a time when "JAZZ - ROCK FUSION' began to gain popularity .The popularity of "JAZZ - ROCK FUSION"woulr gradually calm down and morph into what is now known as "SMOOTH JAZZ" .
Для тех, кто разбирается- здесь все звуки исправленные электроникой. Новые технологии творят чудеса. Хотелось бы услышать живое выступление этого трубача и группы тромбонисток )) Хотя не спорю- электронная музыка это тоже вкусно.
Wow....you guys killed this and blessed us with so much funk on this along the way!! Thanks for sharing you idea on this tune as it is one of my favorites!!
Love this take on Give It One! Glad to see that you laid back more on the tempo. Maynard always used to blaze it live, and I like hearing it with a little more groove. Awesome!
I love your new perspective on this tune. Wonderfully done. I'd love to see so much more that you have to offer. Please upload more for us. Cheers, Paul Baron
Nice job you guys! We played this tune (as part of the "MF Hit Medley") on every gig over the course of the three US tours I did with him. I'm sure he would have approved heartily of your version. Nice groove!
My trumpet bell looked that way after a long gig. It never sounded that good though! Great MF cover... I am really starting to love these Russian players. 🎼🎵🎺🎺🎺❤❤🙂
