James Morrison & Schagerl All Star Big Band feat. Thomas Gansch - "The Flintstones" at Schagerl Brass Festival 2011, Stift Melk www.schagerl.com - www.schagerl.tv - www.filmgut.at
I’ve known James for almost 30 years now, 6 of those years I worked for him as a full time employee. Whether he is flying an aircraft, rebuilding a computer, driving a race car, sailing a yacht across the Tasman sea, or playing any wind instrument known to man, he has never, ever, been puzzled about anything, on or off stage...
Wow, what exceptional playing by all, such a good feeling of "togetherness". As i brass player myself I commend these unfathomable players for their superior excellence!
Big band versions of songs: Intro, improv/screaming part, chorus, the rest improv/ awesome playing finish with the end of the the song ;D Love all of the players on stage haha
There's a funny joke my band director says to trumpet players. He says something like "How do trumpet players screw on a light bulb? They hold the bulb up and wait for the world to revolve around them." Funnier when he says it
Holly Holly stuff..! Tremendous trumpets solos, I feel like dancing now, this guys are the trumpet aces for real, unbelivable..! Standing ovation to this guys and the whole orchestra, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo..!
He did something Morrison never expected. He stood there and was puzzled for a moment. This goes under definition of "outplaying", even if for a moment. Music was great, and it was all very friendly and warm. I did not try to say Tomas "killed" James, or humiliated him! Just watch: it is practically impossible to compete with James the Great in his element, so Thomas chooses other way -- tactically he's right -- hence the James's amazement. It all added to the "great music" you refer.
Time and time again, I find myself coming back to the one video that's motivated me beyond anything else possible throughout my trumpet playing: THIS VIDEO The most amazing, inspiring thing I've ever heard. Jesus, to play with HALF of this skill...
