+DL ArtWorks Depends on what kind of sound you want. There is greater economy of motion if you use alternate picking, and it's less strenuous during fast music like this. If you have a godly right hand that can handle purely downstrokes and that's the sound you want, then it's fine.

+DL ArtWorks Because it's still the very basis of 99% music. Furthermore if you watch other Browne's playthroughs he's actually pretty good at alternative when a situation demands, but chooses to downpick most of the time, because obvious. In other words, you can get by without good downpicking (though it'll sound weaker in genres like djent), but you can't without a proper alternative technique. In the end it's about choosing the right sound and downpicking is just an another method :). Petrucci is probably the ultimate master of alternative, but he still uses legato and economy if they fit better.

+Vlad The Dragon exactly dude, alternate picking is lack of agressivity!... Somebody told me that I need to perfect my alternate picking technique... But, who cares. I feel myself comfortable that way!... For those guys that thinks we are wrong... They never have tried to play monuments, Probably I the creator could be a good example!

I guess this is The baritone, isn't it? Does anybody knows the lenght of the fingerboard, and some suggestions about the gauge string to play in drop F?

I would recommend having at least a 27 inch scale length for drop F, because tuning that low would require very thick strings which would be very hard to intonate well with a shorter scale. I would recommend a string gauge around a 72 for the bottom, but one useful tool is Stringulator (dot) .com, which can help with choosing strings for the right tension. Daddario makes some good strings for tuning low, I recommend you use that brand.
