It's funny to me how mayors can walk through a city upon taking office and act like they didn't know how bad it is. Before running for mayor, they should familiarize themselves with the best AND the worst areas. These walkthroughs should be a way to deepen relationships the mayor already has and build new ones. pp
I wished he walked my block 25th street. It's a mess and the city abandoned houses needs cleaning up too. I asked my city councilman Robert Stokes Mechanical street cleaner but I was turned down.
So the Democrat Mayor of Baltimore (who's actually from east Baltimore and has been involved in Baltimore politics for 23 yrs) sits in his ivory tower and doesn't know shit about what's going on in his own town until President Trump calls out a worthless MD Congressman who's district is also partially in Baltimore. How is that possible? How can someone who's been in Baltimore politics for 23 yrs be so disconnected from the city? Sounds like the Cumings effect - drawing a paycheck but accomplishing nothing in return. Call it negligence or corruption it's the same thing.
People need to stop looking to the government to solve all of their problems. The community needs to band together to cleanup its neighborhoods. It is called taking pride and caring about your neighborhood.
You obviously haven't been to Baltimore, because Baltimore is so much more then what the media shows. They only show the bad parts of Baltimore and not the good parts. I live in East Baltimore born and raised.

Mayor Young blasted back at President Trump saying he should send Federal money to fix the problem. I say make an accurate accounting of federal money spent in this neighborhood for the last 4 years with full and accurate outcomes first.

The key to Baltimore is imminent domain. Cease large tracts of bad crime infested areas. Build 2-story brick walls around it, level it, then auction it to a developer who promises to build new upscale housing units and retail and office space. You have to kick the criminals out of Baltimore and the only way to do it is to take over the areas they reside.

I'm going to guess that the city officials will spend a few weeks blaming each other and everybody else, they will continue to deposit their pay checks (or check their direct-depost balances) make a few publicized efforts and work on being re-elected. Don't the records show this has been deteriorating for decades?

Baltimore city need more police officers. Because people drinking alcohol on the street, smoking marijuana, sale drug at coner. But I can't see where is police officers. Baltimore city have to hire more police officers. And keep safe people who live in Baltimore city.
