I lived in a town called flemingsburg not too far from this but my parents would take to Maysville every weekend to do shopping. I'm currently 23 and moved to tulsa oklahoma after growing up in flemingsburg my whole life. It makes me so happy to be able to come online and see clips of my home. Christmas time was the most beautiful time of the year for maysville, thank you so much for filming this!

Maysville is perfect for water hills and the train. Amazing combo. If Daniel Boone were alive.

Thank-you for sharing your walk through Maysville and across the Ohio River. It's apparent the residents have a lot of pride in their town. Your narration & enthusiasm really conveyed the wonder of this place. The only negative was the sub-par coffee. 🥲 Look forward to your next walk.

11:21 When I ride 🏍️ down (3 hrs back roads from Columbus), I always cross the bridge. I feel it shaking. It’s both very cool and hairfrying.

Cincinnati is 61 miles down river, and the nearby William H. Harsha bridge is not a suspension type -it is a cable-stay bridge. Btw, the official KY/OH border on the bridge is after the (north) tower but before the cable anchorage.✌️

A Tennant farmer, not a migrant worker. Just another person who grew up in Maysville. Thank you for your kind words about that from which I came. I now live in historic Covington.

A great video tour of a town I have wanted to visit. My ancestors settled in Kentucky after immigrating from England in the early nineteenth century before settling in Portsmouth Ohio. I am also an avid student of early Kentucky and Ohio during the life of Simon Kenton who founded Maysville. I would love to see what it looked like when Kenton first arrived at Limestone Creek. I would like to visit Maysville and explore. I’ll be sure to bring a thermos of coffee, lol.

Those big concrete blocks that are used on the bridge. A guy fell in one when it was drying. They say the never got him out. My family is from there. All my aunts and uncles where born in hayswood hospital in Maysville.

Fantastic walk!! Love the history and architecture. Agree with Greg K regarding the narrative walks and tidbits of history. Rosemary Clooney always talked about her hometown and I've wanted to mosey up there and visit sometime.

The 3 concrete things sticking out of the river that you thought were footings from another bridge are actually ice breakers, designed to break up ice as it moved downriver. At 37:30 point, you are right, there use to be a downtown grocery store there. I actually work there all thru high school. It was later converted to a local bar but burned in the mid 1980"s and was eventually torn down. I grew up in the downtown area of Maysville, couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Thank for showing our town off.

Great video walk..I grew up in Maysville and it was great growing up there. You missed a couple of great places. One you missed the the Opera House. This was an old theater that was on the vaudeville circuit. Many great performers came there..over the years , it was converted into another movie theater , but later closed and then in the 1960s was bought by a local group who became know as the Maysville Players. They were successful in getting it designated as a historical landmark and secured a grant to do renovations needed. They have produced many plays over the years and many entertainers have come to perform there. It is a great live performance theater. You did a fantastic job on the walk…I remember walking that bridge many many times!

Next time, please visit the Mason County Museum in Maysville and let them tell you some history. Jacob Boone is buried behind the museum. He and his cousin Daniel opened a tavern on the corner of Market and Second Street. There is also Simon Kenton history and Stanley Reed history. Thanks for visiting Maysville.😂

Very nice walk through of this quaint Kentucky town. I noticed the trolley tracks there in the beginning. I am looking at property and a move to Kentucky; Maysville has some nice homes. I am just curious about what life is like there and would appreciate any comments about the town from those who are familiar with living there. Thumbs up to this video and subscribed! Nice job!

Please please please educate us as you wander. Trivia about the founder, what type of architecture are the buildings….something for us to learn. We saw the town but basically learned nothing except the metal stars. How old is the bridge? When has the town been flooded? Teach us about what you are seeing on the walks.

Thanks for watching! I know it might be frustrating - but I am not a tour guide in most places I visit. I’m exploring and wandering and showing you my first visit to a place. I’m not expert at these places - and don’t want to google things and pretend that I am!

My grandmother said on her first marriage certificate that she was from Mason, KY. I with someone would tell me more history of this town. Her background was a bit confusing and being passed on there is no one to tell me anything. Anyway, she was born anywhere from 1884 to 1888. Her first husband and thus her new last name was Widup. But she divorced rather soon after that marriage and wrote her name as Vivian Asbury. She gave my dad that Asbury name for his middle name. I wonder if anyone can find Asbury at a gravesite in Mason. I can't find her parents or what I think might be her biological parents. I find Vivian in the census records but she's moved and has what seems to be adoptive parents The Grubbs. So who were her biological parents. If anyone is familiar with the Mason cemetaries let me know.
