Got in a nice Maytag commercial washer throwing f7 codes but it turns out it is a bad gear case. I have a whirlpool unit that has a “new” gearcase but bad controls. So me take two and make one. #whirlpool #maytagwasher #homeappliance #diy #washingmachine #whirlpoolwasher

i would of just pulled out the gearcase out and jammed it into the other unit... but that's just me...

@@johncasor9698 that’s probably the best thing to do. But I have been running into tubs seized onto the shaft so I didn’t want to chance it. I’ll do that next time though. Quicker

These newer style smart whirlpools seem to be quite problematic, surprised this transmission doesn’t have bad bearings given the condition of it, this model seems to be notorious for having a bad slider. This is one of the washers you can control with your phone, I don’t know who uses their phone to use their washer anyways. This model was introduced in like 2019 or 2020, so this model isn’t even that old.

@@coolrobuxgaming yes they are very problematic. Like all the newer ones. Sliders, lid locks, water valve, broken wires, bad bearings and main controls. All the good stuff.

@@LAapplianceguy Sometimes the spin cycle is noisy on these when first bought like a banging when balanced, this can be due to the washer being unleveled or loose suspension rods

@@LAapplianceguy But those seem to be most common on these units, most common ones definitely are sliders and control boards, and of course suspension rods.

I'm guessing the price of a gear case for what you can sell it for doesn't make cents?

@@scotts4125 yes gearcases are pretty pricey. Like $250. This unit had a new one installed but then got hit by a power surge and fried the control. So here I figured might as well take two and make one.
