When an engine is 25 to 30 years old and people say that then I would belive it. At 6 years of age your engine is mainly highway. Highway miles are said to be 1/10 of city driving making it more 30k. It has less heat cycle, less age on seals, rubber bushings, starter starts, etc. I have a 92 Accord (362k), 92 Del Sol (305k), 88 Concert (156ķ), 91 Prelude (145k) all original engines and transmissions still factory sealed. Just regular services.

@@crxdelsolsir That's amazing. I am curious does any of your cars' engine burn oil or leak oil at the rear main seal? What is your oil change interval like? I have a 2001 Civic with 210k mile that leaks at the rear main seal but otherwise runs great. I change oil at 5k which is typically around 9 mos to a year. I have never own any car that doesn't leak at the rear main seal after 15-20 years is when they typically start. I was wondering if anyone have a solution to solving the rear main seal leaking at this 15-20 years mark.

I'm the 2nd owner of a 14 Mazda3 SGT (2.5l Skyactiv). I've had it since 22k miles and it's about to tick at 150k miles in a week or so. July will make my 7th year of ownership. I've replaced the belt tensioner twice in that time and replaced the water pump. The pump was leaking per dealership inspection, however, I never noticed a leak or any anomalies with fluid levels, and that was done at about 55k miles, but was covered under CPO warranty. Oil change intervals have been 7500 miles. I've done transmission fluid exchange twice. The car has never left me stranded and currently averages 31 to 37 mpgs. I've been keeping records since 2017. Lowest overall lifetime mpg for one tank, 17.9 mpg (pandemic - city setting), highest mpg which most recently beat its record (37.5) is 38.0 mpg. I live in rural area and most trips are 20 - 65 miles one way.

Here in Canada, the oil change minder pops up at 8000km/5000mi. I have a 2017 Mazda6. I think manufacturers are lying about long oil change intervals so it appears that the cars are lower maintenance and as long as they clear warranty and then some, they are ok. Modern engines work harder than engines of 10-20 years ago, unless oil technology is changing faster than engine technology, no point in extending oil changes. Plus they’re all going lighter weight oils and engines start burning them in a couple of thousand miles.

Try X-Caps, a fuel catalyzer. It makes the fuel burn hotter and more completely inside the combustion chamber. This cleans your engine. This lowers the temperature of the catalytic combuster. It also raises the octane level so that you don't have to buy the expensive high octane gas. You can buy a trial size good for 5 gas tanks.

Using a top tier gas could be the solution without resorting to using premium. Top tier brands add their own superior additives to the standard additive that comes from the refinery. Don't be confused as it's not really a 14 to 1 compression ratio, it's a 14 to 1 power ratio. This engine uses Miller cycle operation which holds the intake valve open longer to push some of the intake air back out on the compression stroke. The effective compression ratio is closer to the 8-10 to 1 needed avoid engine knock on low octane fuel to . The full 14 to 1 power ratio means more power is harvested on the power stroke with greater fuel economy resulting.
@deegan463
@deegan463 6 месяцев назад
It does not use the Miller Cycle. It uses variable valve timing to acheive, under certain conditions, the principles of the Atkinson cycle. The Miller Cycle, by definition, uses either a supercharger or turbocharger. But yes you're absolutely right that it's not 14:1 at all times.

Dumb video. These engines are pretty much bullet proof with basic maintenance.

Expect the BELT TENTIONER to take a dump at 50K miles on sky active engines, mine(2023 CX-50) just took a dump and it cost 583.00 dollars to replace, Mazda is aware of the shitty belt tensioners and has done nothing about it...

If you do your maintenance as required even the shittiest cars will last you for decades. If you do not, even the most expensive cars will die prematurely. I thought this was common knowledge.

@drowningfish8738 am a v8, 6 cylinder guy unless I buy a clown car, which I have no plans to do. also not interested in owning a turbo, either make the engine strong enough on its own or make it a 6 or 8.
