Just a heads up to anyone removing the stereo. At 1:53 they mention the two phillips head screws need to be removed to get the stereo out, BUT what they forget to mention is there's a bolt holding the back of stereo to a plastic bracket. You have to poke your head in the space where the glove box used to be to be able to see it. Will probably need a socket with extension to get to it. If you can't remove the stereo by yanking on it with a bit of force then you'll probably need to undo that bolt to get it free. Have accidentally ripped out the plastic bracket holding that bolt down but wont need it with the aftermarket stereo. Was working on a 2012 Mazda 2.
Heads up for those with a manual gear change car, when the gear change housing is being removed you will need to unscrew the gear change knob in order to get the plastic housing to fully come off the gear change control system. Great presentation guys.
Did you ever get an answer to this? In the video it looks like he didn't have steering wheel buttons in his car, but my car has them. I'd like to know if the after market products support the steering wheel buttons... I fear they don't, which would put me off even starting to bother with this sort of thing...
Hi guys, I just purchased the model for the 2013 Mazda 2 with steering wheel controls. At this stage the steering wheel controls aren’t working and it looks like a lot of fiddling around, potentially stripping and crimping wires to make them work.
If you have steering wheel buttons, you will need to puchase a harness for that specifically. It includes more wiring and fiddling around but it's absolutely possible. If you look it up or are purchasing a kit you'll see that usually they'll have 2 options of harnesses, one being ISO (not connected to buttons on car or for cars without steering wheel controls) and a steering wheel harness. You'd have to choose the latter. There's a price difference in the two harnesses usually around $100. Hope that helps.
Great video! I followed this one for my 2011 Mazda 2 here in Canada. I referred to another video because I was missing some steps but all in all it worked out!
To be fair. These have a recall on them for the passenger said airbag. So maybe it's just that when you were fiddling maybe it set it off. But check with your Mazda dealer in regards to the recall.
At T'eyes I can purchase a much better system - 3G ram, 32G storage, 8core processor QLED screen, for less ($444.26). Your system only offers 1G ram, 16G storage and its more expensive ($489)
Good job. I have a 2009 Mazda 2. I'm thinking about putting an android radio in it, from AliExpress. But the seller tells me that it's better not to buy it. Because my car has, next to the emergency button, triangle, an LED that indicates the passenger seat belt. Not inserting this led or witness. can I put it? Thank you
There is 1 more connection in the orignal frame left side to the hazard light switch (you can see it at 02:31) which is missing with the new frame. As far as i know its related to the airbag interface, did you leave it unplugged or you connect it somehow on a diffrent place?

Buen trabajo. Gracias
damn this looks so much better than most new cars with screens… i’m rather attached to my cd player but if my radio unit ever gives out i might just have to do this
Good afternoon and sorry for my English, my Mazda 2 has the seat belt warning light on top of the radio, is there a problem if I leave that light off? Thank you
@@mattl6936 Nothing, nothing happens. I removed that warning light from my car and everything continues to work, the connector has become loose behind the radio, and everything is fine, even the acoustic warning is still normal. Do it, disconnect, nothing happens. I apologize for my English
Hi driveitech I'm a young car lover and I have the same kind of car and would like to do the same as you did but just with sound I was just wondering if you could maby sponsor me the head unit and the back plate..?

Just managed to do it myself, the comment above is right. If you look at the system through the hole where the glove box was, you'll see a 10mm bolt head. Mine had integrated Phillips screw, so I've held the head in one hand (so it wouldn't fall down behind) and unscrewed it with the other. Whew... On to the installation now!
@@a.a2304 no. But I'm blaming the system i bought. It's a generic Chinese android thing and it wasn't well developed, especially on the software side. I gave up on the steering wheel buttons but in theory there's a way to connect the right wires and "train" your deck to recognize which signal does what
