Its not the exhaust, its the engine making that noise which is coming out of the exhaust. People need to realize its the engine which is mainly responsible for the sound. The exhaust just tweaks it a little bit.
RU-vid audio is nothing like the real sound. I was working in racing during the rotary era, even with hearing protection, the noise was awful and would give pit crews headache and nausea. The drivers needed two level ear plugs.
Man that must've been such an honour for Johnny to be reunited with the car on the 20th anniversary of that win in '91. Bet once he was out there, it felt like he'd only driven it yesterday. Amazing car, and Herbert a nice guy as well. This video put a smile on my face.
I'm in love with this car. The cars today just don't have the drama these cars had. Absolutely brilliant. Screw all the sound restrictions race cars need to be loud.
In 1991 I stood on tetre rouge in the dead of night and listened to this car backing off into mulsanne corner. It has taken 20 years for me to realise that Le Mans is never going to get any better than that single moment in time. And I so wanted the big cats to take the victory
I totally agree, for me best sound is aspirated engine, specially v10 F1, specially Bar Honda. And also 2 strokes engine. Love this rotary Mazda. Never liked turbo. It's just opinion anyway
I watched these at Le Mans in the late 80's and took a whole 135/36 film just to capture the exhaust flash when they changed gear. At 3 am, the sound was absolutely brilliant, mixed with the Bentleys, Sauber Mercedes etc. I did 5 years of Le Mans, every one excellent. Tons of food and gallons of beer, worth every penny!
Johnny’s my British racing hero, he’s ace. Britain missed out on another Formula One World Champion because of that dreadful F3000 accident at Brands Hatch back in 1988. Everyone before then said he was destined to be the next Jim Clark and I never doubted that for a second. Oh what could have been. Anyway, he won 3 F1 Grand Prix, one of which I was at (Silverstone ‘95) and the 1991 Le Mans race (as we know) in the monstrous Mazda 787B seen here. By far my favourite Sports Car and I’m glad he was allowed to ring its neck like he did in ‘91. God love you Johnny, all hail the 787B. Fabulous!!
Great clip. Also great to see Johnny on the podium. He was too unwell when he won it in 1991 having driven the wheels off it to beat the might of Jaguar, Porsche and Mercedes
Bom dia !!!! Nunca me canso de assistir esse vídeo. O ronco desse motor é fantástico. Linda homenagem ao nosso querido Johnny Herbert. Muito obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal. Abraço do Brasil.......
What Johnny Herbert achieved in this car after nearly losing his feet is nothing short of amazing and here he is years later still at it. He is basically a disabled driver as he has said himself. I am too, I have problems with my feet (nothing as bad as he had and still has) The man is simply amazing. Very lucky to have been there when he won his first GP at Silverstone in 1995.
The world owes a lot to Japan, and this is one of those things. The 787B will always have a special place in my heart. And people was saying back in the days that japan cars missed soul😂😂 33 years after the crazy Le Mans win, Japan showed the world that they can produce crazy fast and reliable sports and race cars. God Bless Japan!❤
Besides the rotary would change the history of racing forever but people THOUGHT IT WAS HORRIBLE AND DISLIKED IT while I like it for what it was and it was legendary
The significance of Johnny jumiing up on the podium was that when his tean won Le Mans in 1991 Johnny was too sick to go to the podium with the so now 20 years later.......
