@@Justsomegamergamingandstuff Yeah right. Different animals entirely. Have you any concept of the daily running and (more important) maintenance costs of those vehicles? Not an apples and apples comparison. As I discovered when I had to have my Maserati brake pads and rear disks replaced (Brembo's so probably the same as an RS) it is shockingly expensive - and I had a couple of quattros prior to the Levante S.
Nice review! I live in Sweden and took delivery of my CX-60 Takuma one week ago. I agree that the quality is good, and the electric range is better than advertised!
Does it have regenerative braking? The reviewer says it does not; that would be a deal breaker for me. (I have to wait for the CX-70 coming out later this year, the CX-60 isn't for sale in the US, sadly.)
Stunning car yet again from Mazda. I hope their gamble pays off competing with its German rivals. This car stands out from its "premium" rivals with an amazing design, luxurious interior and driving dynamics for a very competitive price. With German brands you have to pay extra for almost everything. Another selling point for me is that it will be more reliable than its "premium" rivals. Bravo Mazda!!
I agree; it’s nice to get all the good bits included and then just decide if you want a sound system and extra luxuries. I really wasn’t sure on the brand at first look but it has really grown on me.
Hi @autosocialuk - Great review as always and you know I do love your reviews - however.... there is regen braking! Its in the centre console set up and you can choice between low of high regen :) Just wanted to point it out :)
We have had 2 x Mazda CX-5 so is a natural progression to purchase the homoura. We should pick up our new car in 2-3 weeks looking forward to using it hopefully to bring down running costs of the Cx-5. Overall it looks fantastic
Good review but you missed the V2L 1500W power socket in the boot - this allows microwave / kettle / toaster usage that makes any family SUV a really flexible vehicle. Liked and subbed
Lovely location! And a great looking SUV that is not (yet) sold here in the USA. Here, the marque is not seen as a competitor to the luxo-German brands. Rather it might compete with upscaled versions of Japanese/US rivals simply because of the higher standard of interiors that have become a Mazda Feature. This PHEV with a 39 mile range as an EV is excellent (and good looking in and out) and should be a big hit in the USA. As car prices escalate here, I think this car should sell very well if Mazda USA introduces it here. (Regen brakes are a feature that must be added) Thanks for another excellent, detailed review, again!
Great video 😎 the top trim I believe has face recognition so you can adjust your driving position. Tech loaded 🤓. Tho I’m happy just with auto lights, auto wipers, power folding door mirrors, electric seats and cruise control..🥳
I love Mazda cars and own a CX30 I would defiantly upgrade to the CX60 but I would wait for the petrol only as I have no facility to use a plug in car I love my Mazda CX30 it is quality for a great price Bear Hull UK
I really like Mazdas and am currently driving my second 6, and while i find this interesting, i overall don't like "SUVs" or hybrids. I only like manual petrol saloons and sports cars and still most want a manual petrol fourth gen 6! :D .
Got the Mx5 too and a very nice CX5 as a daily driver. Big fan of Mazda. Had BMW 's before and never looked back. At least as good for less money. I got an invitation to test drive the Cx60 from my dealer... Very tempting. The question is to wait for the announced Ev's or go hybrid for a few years. Any real world fuel consumption figures available?
No regen, really?? I sure hope not. I found this on Australian Mazda dealers website: "Additionally, the AWD system will maximise the amount of energy that can be recovered from all 4 wheels when braking using an advanced regenerative braking system, helping to charge the battery on the move."
A beautiful place??? With a forest of wind monsters that destroy everything around them... Anyhow the car looks very interesting how much Toyota RAV4 does it share?
They're completely different vehicles. CX-50 is only sold in NA as crossover SUV which is completely on a different platform, engine and transmission. More similar to CX-5 but a bit redesigned (same engines and transmission). CX-60 is the new type of SUV offered by Mazda. Will be available as CX-70 (a bit wider) in NA in a couple of years.
@@SliceTube mpg is a bit of a misleading metric when it comes to hybrids, I think manufacturers should really stop using ludicrously high mpg figures as a lot of buyers won’t truly understand what they are getting in to. mpg for the petrol engine only once the batteries are depleted would be useful to know. electricity still has to be paid for, so every journey whether with the engine, electric motor, or combination of both needs to be analysed. Perhaps a better figure for modern vehicles would be £ per mile rather than mpg?
5.8 0-6 for 320hp for this vehicle is terrible, what a waste of that engine. Mazdas look good and all, but they have to calibrate their engines much better. A 255 hp base engine X3 can do 0-60 in 5.6.
Well, I think the CX60 looks good both inside and out, but I don't appreciate the fake quad exhausts (similar to the ones you'll find on the new Volkswagen R Line vehicles).
Loved the review as always! The CX60 is quite a nice alternative to the BMW X3, considering that the CX60 is a RWD based D-segment SUV like the X3. It looks quite nice (both inside and out); however, I am quite disappointed that Mazda decided to follow the same route as Volkswagen AG and put quad fake exhausts on the CX60. But despite that, I’d go for the CX60. And fun fact: the CX60 is sold (or is gonna be sold) in Europe, South Africa, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. It won’t be coming to North America; instead, they’ll get the wider CX70.
Mazda is becoming a quality alternative to the ubiquitous German brands. The interiors are very high quality for the price point. Hopefully some of this tech trickles down to the replacement for the CX-5.
The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of radar-guided cruise control, especially on a spec like this. It's turned into a deal-breaker for me since I rely so much on it in my current car; I really wish it came as standard as it'd push me to get it, but unfortunately I'll have to veto it, which is a shame because the rest of the car seems awesome.
Of course there is regenerative breaking! If you push the brake pedal, the car breaks just with the electric engine. Only if you brake harder the real brake is used. And you can preset two stages of recuperation when lifting the foot off the acceleration pedal.
@@SliceTube I wouldn’t say I’m ‘confusing’ it with one peddle driving as very few cars have that and one peddle is quite extreme but there is an absence of ‘brake assisted driving’ and there is no ‘brake mode’ which increases its intestacy.
@@AutoSocialUK It has regen and it will show you where you stand in terms of braking using regen or transition to err 'brake pad' based braking... left hand dial shows it. I've only driven one for an hour and a half test drive (before I ordered) but that was definitely there.
Is the driving dynamics still as good as the CX-5 and CX9? I'm still getting used to the new exterior head and tail lights, but that interior is simply elegant and tremendously practical, especially in a more lively color combination. Too bad it will take some time before it comes to Canada. Thanks for the early review Tish! 👍
I've previously owned a CX-30GT Sport tech and that was very nice, I got to sit in a CX-60 and it is even better than my 30. I will definitely be getting a 60 as soon as I can. A big thing with me is the interior materials . A lot of cars use cheap nasty plastics on their interior (or should that be their inferior's). The worst being described as " vegan" which as fas as I'm concerned is a euphemism for nasty "pet" plastic or polyethylene terephthalate. Google that if you've not heard of it, I urge you "is pet bad for my health" then tell me your OK sitting in it on a hot day! I did email Mazda who confirmed both the CX-30GT and CX-60 are free from this chemical which is a good reason I'm going to get one.
" It gives respectable power, however soon you run out of the battery and it becomes sluggish. Just like all hybrids" truer words were never spoken. That's enough learning for a week. Am not doing anything intellectual for the rest of the day. I'll just sit here meditating upon this discourse till bedtime.
Great review Yish. I am writing from Canada where the CX-90 was just introduced. We are not getting the CX-60. We are getting the CX-70. Any idea when that will be released? Thanks. Jim
I've decided to test drive one Tish, before I commit to a RAV4 PHEV. Have you compared them? I love your channel. Your presentation skills are great. That's a lovely accent; Colchester, if I'm not mistaken. Best wishes, John, X. PS As it happens, I have 35mm film projection equipment here that was first installed at the old Odeon, Crouch Street, Colchester.
Did not bother with the RAV4 (or the Lexus) as the kinda CVT transmission just bothers me..... Did try a Hyundai Tucson (and you get great discounts if you are a National Trust member - like £3k) but it's sluggish by my standards - although very smooth and some lovely technology. Ordered a CX-60 Exclusive and added the two packs that did not add the 20 inch wheels (the comfort pack?) in that lovely red.
I should have worded this a lot better, there didn’t seem to be a system in place in which when you lift off of the accelerator and the car brakes for you??
ICEs next year I think - straight six petrol 3L and diesel 3.3L if I recall but they will be (I believe) RWD only not AWD. The length of the engine bay is to accommodate longitudinal straight 6s
It will charge itself on the go but if you have a chance to plug it in then you reap the benefit of some 'cheaper' motoring. PHEVs do what 'hybrids' do when their batteries are depleted... Apart from their slightly higher cost - because they have bigger batteries - I'm not sure why you would pick a hybrid over a PHEV
Ive just bought my first ever Mazda. I'm so impressed I went with the CX5 Sport Black and it feels so premium and has so much tech. The CX 60 will definitely what I go for next
@@AutoSocialUK Thanks for letting us know. Our next trip to UK will now have to include Wales. The last time we were there, we drove all the way from Brighton to Edinburgh, and after 2 weeks, we headed back to DC rather reluctantly! Your videos inspire us to visit UK at the next opportunity we get. Keep up your good work!
