The solution worked great thanks for the video. Note that in the 2018 GT model at least the 'Room' fuse is 15A, not 25. The solution works the same though.
2017 MAZDA 3 SP25 Its called ROOM 15A on ours but definitely works. I also put a brand new fuse in instead of just putting the old one back in. Dont know enough about cars to tell tou what a blown fuse looks like. You sir just saved me $2100aud to get that fixed at Mazda so massive thankyou.
I have a cx-3 and In the glass of head-up display there is a little crack. I always take care of my car, always covered with sunshade so I tink the origin of the crak is from the mazda. But I'm not in garacy anymore so I try to find a new one but is impossible because all are used or broken... I think that is a problem with the glass head-up.
Hi, we never had such a complaint, but I believe in hot climate countries it is possible to experience material deformation, cracks, or discolouration. If you ask me I'd say it is a material flaw, because it should withstand any climate. We replaced combiners due to mechanical damages and that part is available at the dealership. I don't know the price but it shouldn't be insanely expensive.
Especially on warm days my unit only opens a quarter of the way, then stops and the height setting is unavailable. Can be fixed by restarting the engine but I fear that’s bad for the engine after a cold start. What’s your recommendation and thank you for this video!
Based on your description it looks like there is some kind of power interruption, (notice in the video, when I insert the fuse while the zero setting combiner unfolds and if you remove the fuse while it unfolds it will stop at an angle of interruption of power). There could be a bad connection to the combiner unit. I also suspect the PCB and I would swap the whole unit to exclude anything else. Have you tried zero setting? BTW we've never had such a case.
@@JB_Auto afaik it’s a known problem of the earliest Mazda 3 bm’s and the dealership would replace the whole heads up display and speedometer unit to fix it. That’s unattainable for me now, tho and way to expensive. I myself can do some pcb level repair but am reluctant to take the whole assembly apart, due to its critical nature for driving. I will try to reset through the fuse and set zero setting and see if that has a long term effect. If reconnecting the fuse fixes the problem even if it’s just short term… I might be able to build a reset switch in the cabin as a hot fix without restarting the engine each time it happens.
@@youtubecopyrights Yes, the battery should be checked, if it is weak, the voltage may drop below a certain level during engine cranking and that may act as power interruption as well, but then you would have more issues than this...
@@youtubecopyrights Did you end up having any luck? Mine started doing this as well when my original battery died, and then never fixed itself despite me swapping fuses with the new battery.
I tried everything. nothing. last month it was the windshield washer pump problem. now, its a leaking window. not even 40k miles on it. getting a Honda tomorrow.
That many issues? it looks to me that the car had some interesting history, generally if the car is with petrol engine then the only problems are folding mirrors otherwise it's a reliable car.
I have the 2014 Mazda 3 GT, which fuse was it for yours? What is the name or location of the fuse in the fuse box or left hand fuse panel down in the foot well?
That is one of the solutions to the issue. In most cases, it works. If that doesn't work, then most likely occured mechanical damage of the combiner unit, and that video is not related.
If we talk about the trip meter, then it is a little long knob sticking out from the Instrument Cluster, press that. You may use the owners' manuals, and there is a good description as well.
@@JB_Auto above that...on the dashboard. The overhead display i think? That little plastic screen that pops up and is supposed to show the mileage. I reset the whole console and it works now.

Hello, after i did the process, my i-stop is gone and it shows battery is not ready in the fuel economy monitor. also my remaining range increased to 750 km just like you. Is there a problem? or it will be fixed by itself? i-stop, etc.
It will be fixed by itself, by removing fuse you reset values to default. About I stop and battery not ready: that happens after you disconnect battery not the fuse, but you shouldn't worry, start the engine and run it for a few minutes, then drive it and and check if I stop is working. I-stop light orange indicates that it is turned off so you should press the button to enable or disable.

@@JB_Auto after a little drive about 15 minutes, i-stop is working again. thank you

@@JB_Auto high beam control still not working. probably it will work after a period of time. do you have any idea?
The HBC is not related to this procedure, and that operates when dark

@@JB_Auto ok thank you so much. I have last one question if you dont mind 😃 Sometimes when i try to change the height of headup display, it disables itself. combiner stays up but nothing is appearing and i need to restart the engine to fix it. do you know what the problem is? sorry if i am bothering you
Try to zero it as on video, if that doesn't help, check if the axle of the combner has any play if so then the combiner may need to be replaced, or even an electic motor...
Hi, the most likely issue is that your axle is loosened, as I explained in the video, check if there is any play on the combiner axle. Could be a car battery issue, some kind of power loss, which will act as if you performed zero setting.
Get what, head-up display? If your car is not equipped with that, you will most likely need replacement of some parts around the instrument cluster, adding a head-up display and possibly a change of wire loom 😉
@@modfilco5759 What if you change the angle of your position, can you see anything? Does the axle of the combiner have any play on it? Does the malfunction relate to the combiner's angle?
@ModFilco If nothing is displayed then it is an electrical malfunction, if I receive such a complaint from the customer I will post the video. At this moment you can check fuses and if you have a power supply to the suspected unit. Then if you have a power supply to the unit, you will need to replace it, ( We have never replaced any of them, so be careful with the diagnosis)
@@JB_Auto i definitely pulled a 15 blue fuse and the fuel reset. Bsm off light was on. Does it matter which way the fuse goes in? Also I noticed you had the height all the way to the right before you pulled the fuse. Does this need to be done?
@Jude T That was supposed to be a 25A Room fuse and it is white 🙂, Mazda 3 possibly blue 15 A Room fuse, but do not worry, connect the diagnostic tool, and clear fault codes. Usually by pulling wrong fuse you will not damage anything.
