Nice. Love skyactiv. In auto, it even downshifts when it senses you are hard braking. Mazda really emphasises driving dynamics. To ensure it drives the way they want it, they shorten the CX30 wheelbase vs M3. Shorten the M6 touring/wagon wheelbase vs the M6 sedan. Very left field thinking and execution. Shorten wheelbase means more snug fit for interior cabin esp leg room.
All for that Zoom-Zoom and Jinba Ittai feeling. It was ironically the Mazda Capella RE that shot me to fame in 1976, and won mey first overall 1st result in 1977 in Series Production racing.
Uncle, another superb drive. If you ever do a Nurburgring Taxi ride up Genting; I will gladly pay money for the experience. Years ago I sat in an Alfa 164 driven by another Malaysian rally driver; the experience was thoroughly unforgettable. I have been yearning for the same feeling ever since.
I can comment only on UK spec. CX30's but it is the "Mazda 3" 4 door sedan, 5 door hatchback and 2WD, CX30 versions that have the standard rear suspension of Trailing Arms linked by a Torsion Beam. The 4WD, CX30 has a fully independent, wishbone arrangement. This is necessitated by the space requirement of its more complex rear transmission. You can't have a longitudinal prop. shaft, exhaust pipe and a vertically reciprocating transverse torsion beam all in the same place at the same time, which they would be, just in front of the 4WD auto clutch pack/diff casing. An excellent mid size, practical hatchback in my opinion.
Another good review, and to be honest, torsion beams rear suspension set up can be tuned for spirited driving but somehow when it comes to undulating roads, it struggles to control pitching and can get a little uncomfortable, especially for rear passengers. 😅
The secret is having some sort of travel instead of just being a rigid beam. To be honest, the torsion beam technology has improved tremendously, and some good performance cars are on torsion beams. In fact some of the older Porsche cars had torsion bars at the front end. Nowadays I keep my mind open to new tech, amd even cvt development is amazing. Look at Nissan Almera's 'sumulated' gear change. That was what I always advocated, amd now it has happened. I remember talking to the Mazda design engineers when they first came out qith the SkyAcyiv Transmission anbout a Sport button, and a year later they had it on ther cars.
cant agree more..nicely said..it can be tune for performance..outperform some poorly setup multilink..looks at megane..but when come to comfort..backend is always busy
Awesome driving good cx9 they’re exhaust sound it’s similar to cx9 luv the driving dynamics n handling so far..the only small issue is tha paint started fell off and easy to scatch..
I just got mine yesterday the 2WD High spec version. Omg it made me not wanting to look for brands that are more luxury like bmw, merc etc. Is that good or bad
Great to see another review from Uncle 💪🏼. Shouldn't Malaysians go for 4WD or AWD variants considering their superior traction and local weather of sunny and rain all year long ?
Hi Uncle, nice drive! I had a Mazda3 and I really wished it had at least 2-3x the power it had. If it's an AWD I would imagine that it will be able to handle even more power; I really wish it had VW's punchy-ness. If Mazda could make cars that handle that well at higher HP's it could give a lot of other very renown brands a good run for it's money.

Even though it is better looking and better handling, but is is hard to justify the price if we compare it with cx 5 2.5T which only 9k extra.. while cx5 2.5T had much bigger space and powerful engine....
Riding bikes is fun, but bikers have to remember that no matter what, they're more at risk than car drivers. If you crash a bike, even if it's an RM200k bike, you'll still be injured or killed the same way as you would a mat rempit riding an RM5k bike. Have to be more aware of traffic and try not to keep on the right lane when not necessary. Just the same as car drivers, don't drive on the overtaking lane unnecesarily. The worst high-speed fatal head-on collissions happen when vehicles lose control in the fast lane and cross the median to slam into another fast moving vehicle on the opposite fast lane.
Uncle, I would like to see you driving Infiniti Q50/ Nissan Skyline (JDM) on those twisty roads .... it would be fun to see how DAS technology (Direct Adaptive Steering or Steering by wire) will handles the car ...
Tested CX30. Good car overall except engine noisy - not sporty sound but noisy sound. Can do with better engine refinement and engine firewall sound insulation. Exactly same issue with CX5. Also same noisy engine symptom.

(Off-topic here) So sick of people comparing the new 2021 MZ3 Turbo with hot hatches XD When Mazda already said that it's not a hot hatch. It's more focused on premium-ness over sportiness. However, still very surprised to see people comparing the new basically normal MZ3 (but with a turbo) competes with hot hatches XD

XV is slightly better in body roll, absorb the bumps better n bigger rear passengers space. Hope the CKD version of cx30 will come to Malaysia to bring the cost lower.

Too many choices! It's easier for a man to choose a wife when he lives in a small village and there are only two women he can choose: vis a vis in the city where beautiful women abound - same problem, lol.

Uncle, if given a choice between this CX-30 and Subaru XV, which one will u go for in terms of handling, performance and safety? Ignore about price and branding. Please give us a honest answer.
Each video is different because the placement and sound conditions plus settings may be different, so it would not be accurate to judge from the videos.
Obviously no traffic police on that road😀 a lot of drivers don’t keep left in NZ, they like to tootle along in the fast lane, very frustrating at times
I think it holds gear if you are in manual in Sport mode. Not too sure as I drove it some time ago. But you can always check it out in the showroom if you want to buy one.
The Kona Turbo is provlbably the most powerful of the 3, the CX30 is the most well appoi yed and the Corolla Cross is probably the most reliable, so it depends on what your needs are. Finally it is whether the looks appeal to you. So those are things you might want to consider if you are considering one of them, and it also depends on where you are and how is the service and parts back up for these models in your country.
uncle, maybe can put some rating like 8 out of 10 something like that when you rate the car, because it is quite hard for us to know the car performance, handling, etc when you just said "very nice", "I like it", "very good". Just my 2 cents. Tq
