Your video was very helpful. I just did this on my daughter's 2017 exactly as you mentioned. So far no ghosting. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
This was easy and worked perfectly for my 2017 Mazda 6. Details aren't exactly the same, but close enough that I was able to easily figure it out. Took me 20-30 mins. Thank you!
I just recently purchased a used 2017 Mazda 6 and found out a few days after closing on it that the screen has the "ghost touch" problem. Hoping that the dealership will pay to repair it, but if not, then this video will be very helpful.
Thanks for the info. I didn't get a new screen, just disabled the touch function. By disassembling and pulling out the lower ribbon no more ghost touch. Thanks again!!!!
@Admnnn check your fuses and battery? Any thing else acting odd? I'd go with what Aussie said. It could be you'll need the brain or the OEM radio...could go junk yard or ebay but never know how long that'll last. I will say a new one is double or triple Ebay price! Mazda dealer could diagnose but with a fee. Make sure you have the latest version of sd card bc all the threads and videos warn of having this updated version before installing many of the new equipment.
I replaced my screen (bought a new screen on Amazon abt $300...not the full OEM tho ..and this fixed the phantom touches caused by delamination. Was able to do it myself in less than an hour by watching RU-vid. (I also bought a screen protector to save any future damage.)
Thanks so much for sharing this!! This is much better than some of the other videos I’ve seen where people destroy the touch screen connection in the back. It’s literally just a few more screws and then you can simply unplug it.
Thank you for sharing, Mazda charging me $185 to perform a diagnostic to determine why my informant is rebooting then I have to pay to get it fixed. When they could easily tell me to remove the SD NAV card.
This is actually a really common problem they told me the same thing and I have the ghost touch thing on my mx5 they said 185 to diag and I said you cant tell me a possible fix before wasting time they said no its company policy
Thanks so much my friend! Just followed your instructions with no prior experience with cars. This only took me an hour, was pretty easy and everything else still works! Never used the touch screen anyway except when the ghost touch was messing with me. The dealer quoted me $700-1600 and they wanted to keep it overnight... no thanks hahah- this was a perfect alternative! The only challenging bit was the cables you point to at 5:32 and "cracking the back off." I used a butter knife because I didn't have anything else and it left a few scratches. Thanks again, problem solved!
Just wanted to say thanks so much for this video - super clear and helpful and I was able to do this in under an hour even though I have never taken apart a dash/infotainment system before. Problem solved!
Thanks so much for the help and the knowledge! Just finished this on a 2019 CX5 Grand Touring and it’s has had no issues! We have a long drive ahead of us and it used to kick on after long periods of driving or sun exposure or whatever and I’m looking forward to no issues at all! THANKS KINDLY!
Bro. Thank you! I'll do this after I'm done with the Android Auto retrofit. Will probably not do it the same day since taking the screen it's so easy once you've done the retrofit.
Question: how can you use Mazda diagnostic/test screen with just the knobs? From my tests it looks like you can only interact with all the buttons on its keypad using the touch screen.
*Edit* See comment below, fixed the issue in my 2018 Mazda 3 🙏 Original Post: is this caused by a faulty LCD unit because I bought the extended warranty on my Mazda and I was told if the touch screen goes out it would be replaced under the warranty. would replacing that fix the gist touching issue?
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrUgN1FmwbQ.htmlsi=xzoeMDT4SjKOwkuO I have a 2018 Mazda 3 GT 2.5L in this video helped a lot. One tip I learned from the comments is once you have the 10 mm out leave the metal base connected and just unscrew the four Phillips head at the top the LCD itself will pop out and then you can go from there. thanks to these two videos you guys are the best and helped me fix my issue
My display when totally blank and i did this mod in the hopes it would fix it because it did occasionally have the ghost touching problem. Sadly no it didn't fix my issue but i didnt expect it would. And yes ive tried all the button combinations to reset the unit and that doesnt work either
Hello, I suggest that you remove the navigation disk and teat your system for a few days. If problem is resolve you have a bad navigation disk if not try to update the system’s firmware. Dealerships charge $200 to update the firmware to the latest version but try to remove or replace the navigation disk first. Navi disks are sold around $50 on Amazon.
In my case I replaced the navigation module or Apple carplay module where you put the navigation memory. My module was acting up. I replaced it and there no more rebooting.
Another video showed that after cleaning the disks contacts with a new pencil eraser the rebooting problem stopped. Might need to do this every 6 months or so.
Because this is Mazda 6 with MZD connect which is a touch screen. In this video you see how to disable the touch screen so that you can only use the rotary knob.
