Headlight removal and retrofitting projectors in the new Protege for a great upgrade without spending a whole bunch. Love how it turned out! I'm by no means a professional but it's a way to get better lighting without blinding oncoming traffic and paying quite a bit less than 'branded' plug-n-play LED options.
Tools you will need:
-8mm and 10mm sockets, extensions, ratchet
-Various small and medium Philips screwdrivers
-Medium sized flathead screwdriver
-Wiring tools (wire stripper, crimper, tape, etc)
Parts used:
Projectors: www.amazon.com...
HID kit: www.amazon.com...
A 6000k kit will provide the more bluish-white light you see with "daylight" home bulbs, or modern vehicles with factory LED headlights, however they have slightly lower lumen output. A 4300k kit kit will provide best light output, with a color temperature closer to earlier factory HID lights found on vehicles such as Lexus and Nissan.
For Protege sedan (H4 bulb) a relay harness will need to be purchased or made for proper low and high functionality. Such as this one: www.theretrofi...

The factory headlights are excellent on the Mazda Protege as long as you keep the lenses clean. I was surprised just how well they lit up the road. They light up the highway so well that I wouldn't even consider changing them.

The halogen reflectors are indeed pretty good for what they are, but the projectors are a step above for sure if you do a lot of night time driving. It's been tested and proven that even cheap aftermarket projectors like these will outperform most headlights of even most brand new cars.

@@Ashquacks I'm sure they will, however they're also illegal and if one causes a wreck do to the headlights blinding another driver, your insurance company likely won't cover you. These are not DOT legal as shown. Just something to consider.

@@vegasfordguy there is a reason to go through all this effort to properly retrofit projectors, so that you DON'T blind other people and cause accidents, unlike just tossing some cheap LED bulbs in the stock housings. Clearly you missed the point of the entire video or didn't watch it.

@@Ashquacks I watched it, however when all said and done it's still an illegal modification and isn't DOT approved.

@@vegasfordguy bro this car is so low to the ground, the chances of blinding anyone into a crash is small, lifted trucks are more evil

Question, do I have to use H1 bulb or can I use H7 bulb (HID)

If it is an H1 projector, you have to use an H1 bulb.
