2 pieces of advice to make this job easier, if you remove the k member it make removal and installation of the exhaust manifold easier and the easiest way to get the o2 sensor routed is to use a piece of wire and thread it down from the top, attach the o2 sensor connector to it and pull the wire up then plug it in.
I installed an exotic speed header on my 2011 RX-8 and there was a difference in power you could start of in second gear and the engine wouldn't stall of course the exotic speed wasn't cheap but it doesn't rattle and the collector set up is better.
I had the Manzo exhaust and downpipe but not the header. The stock header I believe is ideal. Have to give your review of the header. Here's a link to how my RX8 sounded after installing the Manzo exhaust: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eBbOo51rzAo.html
@@mischiefpwns I can agree with that. There is very little that can be gained from headers on these unless you're going FI. Your car sounds sweet, that's decat right? I run mine with a decat + catback and people are shocked at how low it burbles at idle. They normally sound like hair dryers lol
I fiited the Manzo headers when i changed my engine mounts, BUT i could not get the btacket to line up.. somehow the headers were very close to the gearbox and no matter how much i tried to move them back i just could not get them to line up .. so in the end i left the bracket off !
Previous owner of my car tried to do this, but failed somehow… now im trying to figure out where. What are like the most common things that can go wrong after this?
Hey man, I've just bought some 'Autosol' for my headlights. As you'll appreciate they tend to fog externally after a few years. I'd seen a few reviews that suggested applying some Autosol and leaving it for a while to then buff out does an amazing trick - I was thinking of wet sanding them down at various grades.... Have you got any input here from your experience?
Hey man, long time no see!!! I have a question: my 8 is not happy about the exhaust. I thought on putting a sports kat, the 200dpi one + a sports cat back but I'm worried about drone, which would drive me nuts since I drive a lot in autobahn. How's your system? Does it drone a lot? Would you recommend 200 dpi cat? And which cat back sounds deep throaty but doesn't drone, if you know any? Thx man
My understanding is that headers do not provide much benefit at all, as most rx-8 bolt ons. Mazda did a decent job of maximizing hp gains on the renesis.
This is an extreme upgrade for the car, but has anyone looked into fabricating a lightweight aluminum frame for the RX-8 to try to match the weight of the RX7? It would make all the horsepower the car has a lot stronger and faster if it can work. I tried looking for any thread online talking about it but I haven't found one yet.
It would be cheaper to buy multiple RX7's rather than try to: * design a whole new chassis from scratch * get the chassis complied and crash tested multiple times This idea is insanely prohibitively expensive both in terms of money and time.
Right He calls adding a factory replacement shorty header "extreme" Then casually talks about building Aluminum 😳 sub frames Like that's no biggie lol 😂
I installed this exact header a couple months ago and the sound seems terrible- like a whistling or fitment, and sluggish at low rpm. Took it to performance shop who said there is no exhaust leak. Not a fan of this header, I prefer mods but I do think stock was better imo. No power difference did I notice. But THANKS for posting!
@@jspvisuals4019 Do you have to remove the header completely when changing the gasket or can you leave it in the car and just lift it a bit to get the gasket in under? I have a Racing Beat header that I put on last year that will get new studs and gasket this summer.
You should have reused your original gasket as the aftermarket 1 is garbage and eventually will blow out but worst of all you can even see in the video it is not the same shape as the exhaust ports I had the same issue once i realized this i put the OEM 1 back on i promises you go change your gasket back and the power will go up
I did this mod to my RX8, it made it to loud in my opinion and did nothing for power I could feel...I've read everywhere that the standard cast manifold actually works well....I swapped it back in the end and I felt no change in performance....with a free flow exhaust and 200 cell cat it just made the noise inside very tiresome. Just my opinion here
Glad you've said this, I bought a japerformance one, almost identical merge collector. My guess is that's what makes the "leak" noise he was on about as mine also has this same god awful noise
