The Mazda i-Activ all-wheel drive technology helps deliver a safe, fun, and fuel-efficient driving experience in any road conditions. With 27 sensors placed inside and around the cabin, our AWD system monitors the road, the driver’s intent, and external conditions like temperature or precipitation in real time.
Based on this information, torque will be distributed between the front and rear wheels as needed - and because the system is predictive, necessary adjustments are made before slippage or other problems occur.
i-Activ AWD also works perfectly with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus technology, for smooth turning even under difficult conditions. With the Mazda CX-5, a special off-road mode for especially tough terrain is available. Drive safely, even on icy or gravel roads.

Ok, but give me some numbers. How much can it send to the back? is it 50-50? how much time does it take to energize the rear axle?

It has the ability to lock up the front or rear 100% in a fraction of a second. Thier is only 1 vehicle that can give all 100% power to 1 wheel...

Those numbers don’t matter necessarily that’s why they don’t give them for part time awd

Having driven the MX-30 for soon a year through rain and snow in Sweden without AWD you ask yourself if you really need AWD at all. Is GVC+ enough? Its predictable and feels safe at all times. Well done Mazda! Renault is starting to sell the Mégane e tech that is lighter than the MX-30 and has a WLTP of 470 km. What is happening with new EVs from Mazda? More energy dense batteries? A Mazda BEV for the whole family with kids and dogs is what this Mazda customer is waiting for.

They have already announced that along with others, 3 new all-electric models will be launched between 2022 and 2025. With this, they are clearly accelerating their previous plan, according to which the MX-30 should initially be the only purely electric model for a few years. Let's see, what those models will be.

@@EdgarRenje Heard the same thing. Just get worried by their approach in general that seems to be dragging feet and resisting change. Mazda has done wonders for efficiency with fossil fuels. But now its a new situation, a different ballgame and they need to adapt, catch up with the competition and start making own electric motors etc etc. Hitachi made the motor for the MX 30. There is no room for more time wasting if they want to survive in today's market.

Thank you for your question, let us try to summarize this rather technical answer: Heading towards a carbon-neutral future by 2050, the Mazda Motor Corporation announced that it will accelerate its global electrification plans. By 2030, we assume that a quarter of our products will be fully electric and all other models will be electrified in some form. Between 2022 and 2025, Mazda will introduce a range of new products using the SKYACTIV Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, mainly for Japan, Europe, the US, China and ASEAN. It will include hybrid models, plug-in hybrid models and EV models. @@anderspersson6134 Good luck in the near future powering all these EV vehicles. There are already rotating power shutdowns in California and now in the UK with the selling of all these EV vehicles!
