The Guerrilla Video Clips were never DVDs. The material is taught in depth in the Practical Unarmed Combatives Volumes 1, 2 &3 DVD series. You can find the trailers on our channel.
Really awesome. If you grab the wrist of an experienced fighter (grappler), he'll make you pay. And Mr Janich is so right; you don't have a lot of control with just the wrist, if the attacker knows how to fold, you could end up in trouble anyway. You've got a great down to earth style of teaching sir.
Love this video Mr. Janich! It's nice to see there is someone else out there who believes we can take the lessons that traditional martial arts teaches us and apply combative principles to them to make them much more efficient and street effective. Thumbs up!
This is excellent I'm a former martial artist myself(Black belt Shotokan) but unable to train following an accident, today I got my Yojimbo 2 as I collect Spyderco knives, just want to say thank you Michael Janitch for a really Great knife
What I really like about this gentleman's approach is that he talks in terms of concepts rather than techniques....he has also mentioned in other video's that you learn the concepts and then express them in your own way as appropriate to your physique and mental attributes etc.....very sound approach.
Great stuff!! I love Mike Janich. His stuff is easy and straight forward. I have volume #2 of this set. All of his moves are very easy to "Build Upon" You can throw in some of your own stuff and you get a great system that is very practical.
Interesting that the first concept, using the "draw hand" to help pull the arm into the trap is very similar to something Kelly Worden teaches in his Destroy-Trap-Lock" videos. He grabs the hand and pulls it back to his hip, in a similar move. See his first RU-vid clip on DTL.
There is some good practical stuff here. I would caution that the trap itself as demonstrated here, is troublesome. After playing around with this at full speed, its unreliable at best. I would encourage anyone to try this type of trap at live sparring speeds and check your results. Everything demonstrated after the trap in this video is basic, solid fundamentals of close combat, should you be able to tie up the arm in that fashion.
@perfectshot77 its simple because this is not for sport, going the distance is good in all but ending a fight as quickly as possible is the best solution, happy training.
this video shows up close and personal control. as mentioned before, incapacitate attacker quickly. after trapping arm and then grabbing other hand up against the chest. take right hand, and make fist like going to punch face. rotate hand 90 degrees counterclockwise with thumb protruding and Strike deep into eye sockets. blinding assailant. follow up with nasal strike and throat strike and then throwing to ground. breaking arm. then evade
If the elbow trapped this would mean your shoulder cannot retract. And if your shoulder cannot retract, your free hand won't be able to hit an opponent who is in your flank (outside guard) try it. If you want I can make a video of the mechanics of this principle for you.
Trapping in general does not work, usually in demonstrations the trapping guy is moving faster because he has more movements then the guy who is simply punching to make it look like it works. And most people with common sense is not going to stand there with their arm trapped. Real fights are sudden and fast and trying to trap is a bad idea.
That was a pretty non-optimal demonstration of a Lop Sao, to be frank. A real Lop Sao is very similar to the methodology demonstrated in video #1 of this series. The Wing Chun "sticky hands" is done with a check, block, trap series and he only showed the check part of it. Kind of disappointed, to be honest. The video did have some great stuff in it, though. *thumbs up*
Its not a real lop sao. Its similar, but he applies it further up the arm, for the reasons he discussed. I like it. Mike has adapted a lot of stuff from various arts, and built into his own system. Make what use of it you will.
ill give you or any of ur guys my whole bank account if u can do those locks on me when im throwing punches. ufc already proved all this stuff doesnt work under pressure
