This was a request by one of our customers who cuts granite blocks for monuments and other decorative stone. The 10"x16" jaw crusher was used to crush these 8" thick slabs of granite as a test. This crusher will crush 5+ tons/hr at 1" minus and is powered with a 20 hp electric motor. The crusher did a great job! If you have something you would like to see run down one of our jaw crusher please let us know! For more information please send us an email or give us a call:

Not sure about obsidan - but I have mostly basalt at my property, no sand and some clay and the top layer sitting on a bed rock is one two feet max. So Kubota plus dump trailer - plus affordable crusher from MBMMLLC allowed me to build three miles of hilly road winter accessible. Big thanks to them. Thunder Bay, Ontario, Gorham.

When going from 10" rock down to 1" rock, should there be intermediary crush stages to : 1) Increase Through Put. 2) Increase Jaw plate wear life? For instance should you first crush the 10" rock down to 5" and then down to 3" and finally to 1"? How are typical crush yards setup? When crushing Granite, how many hours or tonnes of rock can you process before you have to flip your plate or when it becomes completely warn out?

@mbmmllc
@mbmmllc 8 лет назад
+kramler Thanks for the comment. Its funny how fascinating some of this old technology can be. The jaw crusher hasn't changed much since the 1800's There have been some tweaks here and there, but they are basically the same machine. They are still heavily used in the crushing industry today and I don't know of a better primary crusher than a large jaw. Thanks

The stationary jaw die was moving during the crushing process. Not a good thing. Will wear the main frame were the die seats against the frame. Once worn, the die will never seat correctly, no matter how tight you try to make it.

Can you counterbalance the spinny-thing , so it stops shaking?
@mbmmllc
@mbmmllc 8 лет назад
+Mike Dawson Hi Mike. Thanks for the suggestion. A few other people have also mentioned it looks like it is going a little too fast, we have reduced the speed on our newer models which helps a lot with the shaking. Also having it on an actual stand verses sitting on a couple of 4x4's helps too! Thanks
@MikeDawson1
@MikeDawson1 8 лет назад
So there's not a way to balance the rotating assembly? Just curious, I know nothing about your type of machinery
@mbmmllc
@mbmmllc 8 лет назад
+Mike Dawson The flywheel actually does have a cast in counterbalance. You can see it at the very top of the flywheel if you pause the video at 1:08, just before it gets started. It looks like a little wheel weight like would be on a tire. My comment earlier about the speed was a little cryptic. If it is slowed down to about 250-275 RPM the counter balance does a pretty good job of keeping it steady. At the higher RPM it's running in this video the counter balance doesn't do as good a job as its just going too fast. They are way more stable when we put them on stands at this slower RPM. We have changed the speeds of our crushers to about 275 RPM just for this reason. Here is a video of one of our larger crushers going about 250 RPM and its rock solid even up off the ground 4 feet and the conveyor cantilevered our 15" barely shakes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vma_rhcXdEE.html Thanks for the comment and clarification

@mbmmllc 8 лет назад
+Marco Van Zyl These smaller crushers go a little bit faster than their larger brothers, but I do agree the RPM on this one is a little faster than it needs to be. This one goes about 350 RPM. We have found that about 275 RPM for this model is best. Thanks for the comment!

Diamond would be destroyed instantly. Even hitting the edge of a diamond on a table along a cleavage plane would chip off a piece. Diamonds are hard but mechanically brittle. Very common misconception. I have met fellow diamond prospectors who test(ed) their probable diamonds with a hammer and anvil. You see the color and expression of their face drop real quick when you explain it to them.
