I'm here from RejectedShotgun, even though I'm stuck on console and can't personally enjoy this, I still find all of this interesting and really appreciate that you're making these tutorials! I can't wait to see what happens as a result!
The engine is actually very similar to halo custom edition so you can maybe try that. Sure it isn't halo 3 but as entry for modding sapien is very easy to use for me
I grew up modding Halo CE. It was always great finding the most amazing little tutorials on obscure forums that few people knew about. This brings me back.
Sooooo I made a pelican with Banshee weapons and working banshee bomb- If you wanna know how I did it, I was curious about the weapons section seen at approximately 3:35. 1) click Add. This should add an empty weapon container. 2) click the browser (3 dots) button. 3) you want to locate objects/vehicles/banshee/weapon 4) click the weapon file. (should be labeled banshee_gun.weapon) 5) click open to have the file in the weapon container and save. 6) test your pelican. You should have the banshee hud but in a pelican. You will shoot plasma and you also banshee bomb. I believe the key is q in the game window while you fly. You should be able to do this with any weapon file as well. I did this with the warthog guass cannon, missle pod, and hornet gun as well. There just won't be a modeled gun to fire out of. Imagine a scarab pelican though? Jeez the power of mods. I want to try having working landing gear when you enter and exit but I have to figure that out. I think it's something in the animations... but i'm currently stuck on that.
Thanks for all the tuts. If you were able, a few hugely helpful sets would be ai respawns for firefight, spawn ai into things like drop pods/vehicle seats, scarab ai, and custom textures and even custom vehicles. Thanks so much for all the help so far, and any help done in the future.
You should just be able to select a vehicle for the ai to spawn in like you do their weapons in the dropdown menu. Works for brutes in choppers, at least!
These videos are so good man, I got the mod tools and had no idea how to do anything but your tutorials helped me make some stuff. Some items wont scale and im wondering if its possible to scale them? (bipeds/vehicles) would be fun to make a small warthog or something.
Is it possible with the current tools to implement custom map geometry, textures, and models like with custom edition (and somewhat for halo 2 vista)? And if so, would you ever consider making tutorials for that or not? Love the tutorials so far and am enjoying every second of them.
Yeah these dev tools make this exactly like Custom Edition for Halo 2 and 3. You can import custom models and textures. People have already imported Halo 1 models and maps.
Any chance we could get a map porting tutorial I’m currently trying to port Terminal over to halo 3 to make an anniversary version of it but I’m having issues with the textures transferring over
I'm loving these tutorials! Question: Would changing the properties on an object in Gorilla then make those properties apply in any map you used that object in? In other words, of you now spawned a Pelican in a new map, world that be flyable by default? If so, is there an easy way to back up or revert to the default settings?
It’s a double edge sword you can place a pelican in any map and it will work but there’s no easy way to revert back to default which is why it’s extremely important to keep note of what you do. If you do want to revert to default open up the zip of the tags file and navigate to what file you want to reset and just overwrite the modified one
Would making a copy of the object file and renaming it work? Like if you named this one "pelican_lastresort", could you import that into the map and successfully compile it later?
@@fryingpanproductions i got the missle pods working on the pelican, but any idea on how to add the machine gun turret on the back like they have in some missions?
Thanks for making this dank series. Do you know if it's actually possible to have the Last Resort wheel be turned on and off via a switch? Also, can its speed be changed?
Not exactly Fryingpan, but it pretty much is. Someone took the whole wheel off and put it onto the ground, as the theme of that version was apocalyptic. It is possible, but I’m personally not sure how it would be done 👀
This is a really good video. Do you think this is applicable to halo 2 vehicle modding too? because I tried to use this guide to attempt to make pilotable Gravity Thrones in H2, but I couldn't get them to let me pilot them, even though for some reason the "invalid for player" box wasn't used even when I hadn't edited it
Hey, on sandtrap the elephant has aunique ability to carry the spawn points of items spawned on it. What is it that allows this? Do you know? Or does it just come with using the mod tools that it works
Yes, in your editor's hierarchy view go to the "Game data" folder, then player starting points. Here you can see that there is 1 element of spawn, double click it to select it and just move it up until it is not anymore underneath the map.
If I duplicate the pelican files and then modify the duplicate, how can I make sure the map uses the duplicate pelican files rather than the original? I'm using Reach mod tools to try and get this in Reach. Edit: I got it to work using Reach mod tools. I duplicated the pelican folder and made changes to the duplicate (pelican_drivable in my case). Upon adding it to my map and compiling it uses my duplicate pelican file and it drivable. Thanks! FYI the phantom still falls through the floor in Reach, gonna try and figure that out.
man i loaded a scarab into halo 3 and for the life of me i cannot get the gun too shoot out of the head turrent properly is there by any chance you could make a tutorial on how to fix that?
I commented in another video of yours but make sure to use Osoyoos instead of "tool", Osoyoos is essentially a much better replacement for tool and it does other things too. it is great and I recommend checking out the video on how to set it up! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XrVi7h45vZY.html
I don't know if Halo 2/3 support bump possession. That was unique to Halo: CE for debugging. The new way would be to either turn them into vehicles or replace the player biped.
