McDavid and Draisaitl are Legacy and Loyal players. (In my opinion) They live and breath hockey and what it means to be a true world class hockey player. That means being a great leader, great player, great teammate and a better person outside of the game. Edmontonians live and breath hockey. We are super lucky to have those two guys. We are equally as fortunate that they are excellent leaders with a team first mindset. I hope McDavid and Drats love us as much as they say they do. I think I know 1,000,000 Edmontonians that would take a bullet for anyone on the Oilers… but especially those two!

Draisaitl committing to long term pretty much guarantees he has years of chances to win. The group is close. They're passionate. They're a team. They're not individuals. And that entire culture was built with him as the captain for all of it. He's loyal. He'll resign. He's got family. He's got great friends. Bonds for life. And most importantly he wants to win. unless EDM wets the bed in the p-off's in 2025 and 2026, there's nothing to suggest that mcjesus will flee edmonton. draisaitl would likely not have committed to staying if he knew that mcjesus was not going to stay, or at least seriously consider such. while it's his prerogative to take the most he can earn, hopefully mcjesus will leave a bit of $ on the table to help bowman pay other guys.
