These are high quality toys. They look just like their characters and are made of a heavier style plastic. This week I got Flower (25 cents at a thrift store) to finish the collection I started as a kid. :D
man, i remember this commercial AND these toys! me and my cousin incorporated them (and other mcdonald's toys like muppet babies) with ninja turtles and gi joe. they all got along cause the bad guys were the unseen iraqi's! we were kids during the gulf war. my cousin had a giant crayon and he would say skud missle attack, skud missle attack and all the toys would have to get the fudge out of there! man... good times, for us anyway.
Soft? These things were hard plastic. I remember how it was so hard to get Bambi. My grandmother collected them too and when we moved her out of her old house she still had all of the Bambi toys in the packages along with so many other Happy Meal toys.
I had Thumper, Bambi and Flower when these came out. I lost or threw away flower and Thumper by the time I got to middle school, but I still have Bambi somewhere.
Those were the first really good Happy Meal toys that got me really into collecting them, though now I have a ton of Happy Meal toys I want to get rid of, ha. But a few I might keep, like MAYBE these four.
@TheNermaty: Totally agree. I'm older now so I haven't bought a happy meal since I was 10 but I have seen the stuff they sell today for kids and they look like the stuff you could get for 50 cents out of a gum-ball machine.
