I remember Burger King used to have "Shake 'em up FRIES" It was a cheese flavor packet - "Cheezy FLAVOR BOOST"

It's a travesty we don't have that here in the US, with like taco, ranch or tabasco seasoning.

In the Philippines, we had Honey Butter shake-shake fries. Itz the best!!

Shaker fries were initially tested in the US. And for some reason they failed. I miss the garlic parmesan shaker fries.

We totally had these in the states!! I don’t know if they launched nationwide, but they did a test in the greater Toledo area, and it applied to our McDonalds in SE Michigan! There was a ranch flavor, a garlic parmesan, and a spicy buffalo!! It was in 2014, and BOY were they gooood 😍😍😍

I've been doing my own "Shaker Fries" lately. I bought some Barbecue Seasoning from McCormick and sprinkled them on my fries. Instant "BBQ Chips"

I make shaker fries seasoning myself. Crushed up nori sheets, garlic powder, chillie powder and lots of salt. (I like my fries pretty salty) Put it in a paper bag, and well, shake it with the fries!

Some UK supermarkets sell McCain shaker fries in the chiller section. They come in a plastic bag with a sachet of seasoning taped to the outside. They are part-cooked, so they need heating and crisping up in the oven first (or your chip pan/deep fat fryer for speed). You have to put the cooked fries back into the plastic bag after cooking for shaking in the seasoning, which is where the problem lies. The plastic bag does something to the hot fries and they're not that palatable, so I would suggest obtaining a paper bag to put them in.

Shaker fries are big here in Singapore! Especially seaweed flavour shaker fries! They always make an annual comeback and lines will be through the door for seaweed shaker fries and samurai burger (essentially teriyaki burgers). We’ve had truffle shaker fries, hot and spicy, and a bunch others! So Glad you get to try em Emmy! 🧡 from Singapore!

Barbeque, Seaweed and Honey Butter are my favorite here in Philippines.

We have shaker fries here in Canada. Last year we had roasted herb it was good. Now we have Chipotle. My favourite was in Taiwan it was a seaweed and sesame flavour it was so good

The nacho fries from taco bell have a great seasoning on them! A nice employee gave me a cup full of the seasoning they use on them so I can enjoy the flavoring all year round at home 👍🏻😝

*Dear Emmy,* 😃 Will you please try out the childhood snack that my mom made for myself and my siblings when we were growing up? This was a relatively simple recipe. I am Mexican American so this little snack is reflective of that. Lol. My mom called them Banderitas (translation from Spanish to English is “Little Flags.”) They were called Banderitas because the different colors of the condiments reminded her of a little flag. We often ate these when we were outside playing, and we wanted a hearty little snack that we could run back outside with. Recipe for “Banderitas” (Little flags) 1: *Flour Tortillas* (you don’t necessarily have to make them, but at least purchase from a good Mexican restaurant that knows how to make them right). 2: 2 medium thick slices of *all beef deli sliced bologna.* 3: *Mayo, Mustard, Ketchup* 4: Thin sliced cheddar cheese *(optional)* *Instructions:* Heat the tortillas on the stovetop. If you have a comal or a pan it will work. Put the two cold and fresh slices of bologna on the tortilla and and then add the mayo, mustard and ketchup. Then roll them up like taquitos. The cheese slices are optional. I didn’t eat them with cheese slices too often. Just sometimes. Maybe try both? This is my moms snack that she made for us as kids. Over the years I’ve heard the name critical eats japan so many times, Paul has sent you so much! I love these international McDonalds videos. But - I love all your videos! It’s crazy - from meat houses to eating bugs, making retro recipes or even your regular fast food videos... even White Castle patte, and we can’t forget fruity fruits and MREs. I’ve never recommended you to anyone who hasn’t enjoyed at least something!!!

When cooking fries I always season them before putting them in the oven. The most liked is truffle oil in a bowl, mix in black pepper, garlic salt/powder, bbq powder seasoning and parmesan cheese, put fries in bowl and mix to coat them all 👌🏻 and for dipping sauce, mix together mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, liquid smoke and a tiny bit of vinegar. It's really good!

Why didn’t they mail the fries too? 🤣

They were a big hit in Hong Kong too! I remember them from the 90's in Canada. They were...strange. I think the reason they flopped in Canada was they came out with "common" flavours like white cheddar and things. You could buy popcorn seasoning and add them to the bags. Butter and soy sauce sounds delicious. As well as the wild bbq flavours.

I'm so going to put my nacho cheese popcorn salt in the glove compartment......

Hey Emmy . In England when I was a kid we used to have Smith's crisps (chips in the USA). And they used to have a little twisted blue packet full of salt . It wasn't much. But you could use all or none. And a good shake . Yummy The best crisps money could buy.

I'm from Australia and the El Maco range is amazing. Not only are the shaker fries good, but the burgers are too!

We have the El Maco seasoning also here in Finland (probably same flavour as the Australian one) amd we have also sour cream and dill flavoured seasoning which I think is fantastic!

Sweden has the El Maco flavor shaker fries from time to time. It’s not a constant on the menu but the El Maco burgers and fries comes back on a semi regular basis and stays for a while before being gone for a while again. I’ve tried them but much prefer the fries with just some salt and ketchup or garlic dip, both tastier and less messy than the shaker fries.

For everyone that would like to try this. Find the popcorn flavouring shaker of your choice, buy a package of brown paper lunch bags. And when you buy fries add them to the bag shake on seasoning and enjoy. You also have the option of creating your own seasoning.

We should start a write in campaign to bring them back here

I miss the McDonald's salad shakers they used to have. I can't be the only one that remembers those things. There was nothing special avout them really, just simple and easy to eat on the go and so tasty.

we did have shaker frys. in California in about 2012 or so we had ranch, bufflo and garlic and cheese. we tested them for about a year but never caught on. the ranch was my fav.

We have the El Maco seasoning here in Finland as well! You get it when ordering the El Maco meal, the burger has salsa, sour cream, salad and tomato in it and you can order it with beef, chicken or vegan patty.

I have not had shaker fries, but I have had the shaker salad they used to have. I miss that and I would really like to see it come back. It was super convenient. You had this cup with salad in it and a domed lid. You put the salad dressing in it, put the lid back on (of course) and shake it up to distribute the dressing and then you eat it.

Here in the Philippines we also have that but not like as a staple in their menu they have that from time to time or when they have like different flavors like when they made this japanese set (japanese inspired? idk curly fries and burgers and drinks) and they had a nori flavor but sometimes its just the basics like cheese, sour cream and barbecue.

Back in the mid-90s Wienerschnitzel used to have Shaker Fries. There were three flavors: Cajun, Ranch, and I think the third was BBQ. I used to always get the cajun fries. They had them on the menu for a couple of years before they took them off.

This is my first time seeing a soft drink cup that's this big. That thing is enormous and like 2 times the size of our extra large ones omg.

There is no one else I would ever watch eat French fries from McDonald's but Emmy. Lol Only u could entertain me while I'm watching you eat something I'll probably never get to try. Lol

Never seen shaker fries anywhere, nor other flavouring stuff (except mayo and ketchup) EXCEPT in my favourite fish&chips place in New Zealand, they serve the french fries (chips) with lemon pepper.......the best!!!! Love it!!!!

Doesn't mean that the US fries are not "seasoned", though. According to McDonald's' website, the US fries are seasoned with sugar and natural beef flavor (among other things that one might not expect like wheat and milk, although they no longer fry the fries in beef tallow).

I grew up in Northern CA and I think I remember there being a trial for this a little while back.

We get the shaker fries here in New Zealand from time to time. There have been a couple of different flavors but they are only available for a limited time. The shaker fries bags here have been similar to the Aussie bag or a brown bag at the different times it has been available.

DIY shaker seasoning, 1/2 tsp salt and fine sugar as base, then 1 tsp premixed powder seasoning of your choice to unsalted fries. i tried curry spice mix, old bay, and some weird mix of garlic onion smoked paprika cayenne whatever powder spices i have at hand, a pinch or shake of whatever you like. if your seasoning is salted, just add the 1/2 tsp sugar to it and use more.

American portions both terrify me and leave me in awe - that soda is bigger than dear Emmy's head fun video!!!

We have shaker fries at McDonald's here in Finland as well, there's the El Maco fries which are available at all times, although I'm not sure if it's the same El Maco as the Australians, and occasionally depending on campaign there's the McFries seasoning which is supposed to taste like the Big Mac sauce, it tastes kind of pickle-y.

I have been doing this for years. I use powdered beef or chicken bouillon, ramen soup flavor packets, bbq rub, etc.

We used to have Shaker Fries here in Germany too back in the 90s early 2000s. I am looking forward to getting the Teriyaki Seasoning which i won from Paul in a competition. You should go follow him too. He makes fun food videos and the competitions are always great.

In Canada we have thad these for two years.. last year it was "Christmas seasoning ", this year is chipotle (it's REALLY not very good) but here they pour butter on them & shake them in a box before serving them to you

I remember at Burger King in the early 2000s when I was little they did shake fries with a similar concept but it was just a cheese powder. When BK was doing all the cheese creations recently I was hoping they'd bring them back. That and the spicy ketchup....fast food in the late 90s/early 2000s was unrivaled.

Shaker fries are also available in some states of India

In Singapore the most recent ones we had this year were Seaweed (crowd favourite) and French Onion, we oso had other flavours like Kimchi (tasted horrible IMO), curry and truffle just to name a few. Usually will ask for unsalted fries when I get them for shakers coz u can get salt and pepper and DIY.

Ooh! Also, as an alternative for you if you can't' have gluten... I learned this from the ramen restaurant next door that seems to only have tamari? But tamari, or umeboshi vinegar with butter is also amaze. And umeboshi is sooooo pretty, too!

Dehydrated butter is very strong in flavor because they remove as much fat as possible through centrifugal force... concentrating the flavor in the remaining liquids. So once that is dehydrated all the flavor is really strong.

I ate shaker fries in the 90's but not at McDonald's, it was at a Weinerschnizel (chili dog place) in Sacramento California. Flavor packs were Ranch or Season Salt. I preferred Ranch

At Cook Out you can request that they add cajun seasoning to your 🍟-totally worth it!

I don't know about internationally but I do know that in the US, McDonald's fries have beef flavoring in them, which is what makes them stand out and be so good, in my opinion. That may not bode well for some flavors but great for others.

3 minutes, 53 seconds into this video...that thing dwarfs her...it's like those one litre beer glasses, plus space for the head of the beer. You can get over here in Europe. More so in places like Germany and Poland, then over here in Ireland though...I had two with a meal in Krakow, Poland...went back to my apartment, slept a bit, woke up and went out clubbing...the only difficult part was trying to chug them, and how full it makes you. A German told me that if you hit someone over the head with one of those in Germany...you go to prison for two years...makes sense. Those one litre beer glasses are super beefy.
