Hello dHunter. Roger here. I always enjoyed watching your videos. You really know how to do great reviews on DC MULTIVERSE action figures and Mega Figs. I agree with your rating on Metallo. I think I'll buy him whenever I get a chance. But I also agree that there are some of the Superman's rogues are missing. Toyman is one of my favorite Superman rogues. I personally like the Toyman from the 1978 Challenge of the Super Friends series version of him. But I think Todd is the type of person that likes to put people in suspense. I've been waiting for Todd McFarlane to make Grail the daughter of Darkseid 7 inch action figure. Took him a long time to make a DC Classic Darkseid Mega Fig. Hopefully he'll do so.
This version of Metallo is from the Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow written by Grant Morrison a two parter that ended in action comics and was the last issue of vol 1 stories
Actually this version made some appearances prior to that story. He's based on the Bronze age look of the character and this version actually was not based on John Corben, but his brother Roger. After John had died Roger became the new Metallo and sported this look. This was your late 70s early 80s pre-Crisis look
good review bro looking at him, it s possible I have seen a story with him once long ago... most of him looks awesome, but the red... maybe a little black wash would do wonders here as he has the same problem as patriot Hasbro, the red looks plasticky - cheap - toy it needs to be worked on to look more realistic somehow. the concept is really fun, kryptonite powered armour, yeah! and superbly sculpted, and cool little logo printed same issue as freeze, just the colours, it can be better. oh wow how luthor is so much better with the grab hands and colours for legs I love the sculpt, and on luthor it shines yep, next version should do that better, or just a black wash at least. and grabbing hands! he can only grab these crystals in one hand as is, LAME! I d want him to grab weapons, accessories, props, ropes, kryptonite green, tie superman! now he just shows a rock.. ; come on superman! can you grab this? so now you know... good show bro
I used the lex luthor for a custom Mr freeze before McFarlane made official Mr freeze figures. I won’t be getting this version of metalo. I want that more traditional version you mentioned.
This is based on his original Golden Age look. I think there was even a cancelled SuperPowers version with this look. The Terminator design came around in the late 80's/early 90's. They used this design once again in the Superman: Secret Origins comic. He's more Cyborg Frankenstein at this point as opposed to a full endoskeleton.
There's a single reference drawing of Metallo with this look (symbol on chest and robotic limbs) and I think it was for the cancelled Super Powers figure. It's a shame they used that instead of the look on the box art. I would have bought that figure in an instant. What McFarlane made is an ugly mess.
McFarlanes reuse of these bodies and that of the Superman rebirth bodies...and many more are getting really old really fast. To spend the amount of money I have already for different head sculpts and next to nothing for eccessories when purchasing NEW figures may cause me to stop collecting McFarlane altogether. It's piss poor and lazy production and shame on me for getting suckered for the past 3 years.
I like your videos, don't get me wrong. But why do you settle for such shit? call the company out for shit releases. Ive given away what McFarlane figs I have. Just horrendous. Price point is mute having to purchase these in AU. Have a look at what Jada are doing for the same price point.
I love McFarlane toys This isn’t one of their best but in hand it’s better than I expected Just like our companies, they have some excellent releases and they have plenty of duds The reveals today at sdcc are soooooooo good Jada toys too small ruins it for me Even smaller than marvel legends But they are nice
McFarlane started out with mostly completely new molds for every figure. It’s only the last couple of years we’ve seen this ridiculous amount of reuse. It was inevitable. Cheaper for them means more money for development of new molds, which they are still producing. It’s still nowhere near the likes of the old DC Universe or Hasbro Marvel legends, where literally 95% of every action figure they’ve ever made uses the same buck. Let’s be grateful for what we have people.

Some of the mold choices seem odd and I’m also pushing for them to get more female figure molds out there. I’m getting tired of seeing that Knightfall Catwoman mold. Let’s be grateful for what we have people.
Of course you’re the jada type. Jada is pure shit if you look at the paint and sculpt issues. I bet you think legends are the best line too. Idiotic take .
