McFarlane Toys DOOMSDAY Batman Action Figure Review

It’s a version of Bruce that injected himself with the Doomsday serum, in comics one time Superman killed Doomsday and he got infected with this disease Doomsday let off, and morphed into doomsday. This is Todd making a figure of the writer Scott Snyder’s idea, where he had Batman of a different earth (of course) have a version of that serum and used it to take out that Earth’s Superman , and I’m a huge fan of both. Edit: I even have the first printing of the comic book this guy comes from. I’m really looking forward to collecting the entire DC Metal wave

In the Dark Multiverse of Earth -1, (not like Earth 1 but -1 as in minus one.) Superman went nuts and killed his wife and child and every member of the Justice League. Batman being the only swore that Superman would never hurt him again and injected himself with a modified version of the Doomsday virus turning him into the only monster that could kill Superman. He brutally killed the Man of Steel by impaling him with bone spikes from inside Superman’s body. From there he was the Batman of destruction known as The Devastator.

The only gripe I have with this fig is the scale. Devastator should be taller than Merciless.

These are $20, not $80. I'd relax on the 'paint wash' of the arms lol. Criticism is valid, but not to that degree imo for this level of figure.

The Dark Knights story line is one of my favorite, so yeah, I'm really happy to see figures made for it.

for $16 w/ a C&C scale & amazing sculpt & details, real worth it, reminds me of Toybiz baf waves for 50 bucks ...now its $375 for a toy robot

I'd love a containment suit doomsday. But he's not a batman character so not likely

I have to wonder how much money it saved them by making his jaw hollow and stupid looking. I just don't see a point to cheaping out on that and wasting money on other things.

I finished that wash when I got him. The unwashed parts looked like cheap, clumped cat litter.

This line should just be renamed to BATMAN Multiverse

Love the unique designs,but McFarlane’s getting way too excited over Batman. Just like DC comics themselves ;y.

For something that is just going to be standing on display, I think that his articulation will be just fine. He's not bad on the eyes either. So I'll get one ☝

I enjoy it however we need more diversity he just keeps making every iteration of Batman. Every wave is just a different version of Batman. Like I know Todd enjoys the dark and gritty designs but Jesus I need something else to get into the line.

Not a big fan of this line, but I have had mine since November, no qc issues with my one. Not sure if you referred to the price, but it was the same as the regular priced figures, considering it is basically the same size as the Venom Pool. Also Unlike Hasbro deluxe line it is half that price. As for articulation it is not going to be the same as a Hand Ninja.

I have this one and I love it. Before I bought him I did a little research and found out that the Devastator that comes in the 2 pack with Superman has a really crappy paint job and looks very shiny-plasticly all over.

I like what Todd's making. I love Greg Capullo and Scott Synder's run with the Batman.

Considering how DC is floundering, I’m surprised McF has gone so heavy on recent stories. Maybe it’s enough that the figures look cool, but, personally, I don’t have interest in (or storage room for) figs of characters I don’t really care about.

I’m a bit of a fan because of how unique some of the stuff he’s doing is, but I’d prefer if he dove into more of the other DC junk instead of the Batman spam.

I don't know the characters that much either but all the new designs makes me want to go back and read the stories

I like a lot of it. But there’s also some that I don’t care for. I love this doomsday Batman though. The short stockyness doesn’t bother me. Can’t wait for your action figure line!

I wish he would do the artists more justice. Like the Batman head sculpts have all been trash, and he still has no idea what hat he's doing with articulation. You would think a self proclaimed action figure genius and talented artist could be less constantly disappointing.

Im just here for cool figures I dont care if I know the character or not, can definitely customize and use them for other things

I picked up one of these guys on sale. None of the joints were loose or floppy. Just thought I'd let people know that not every figure will be floppy. It's going to be hit or miss.

Definitely this stuff Todd makes is great. It’s pure imagination put to figures. There are no water tight compartments when it comes to creativity. That apart the price justifies the figure given the details and paint work.

supposed to be 8'10 too short for 7" scale and too even short for 6" scale wtf!

I get that this is a breath of fresh air for dc collectors and I like that they are really hyper focusing on one crisis event to get every possible character unlike most lines who only go like 5 characters deep and move on... I just wish it was a good event. Dark nights metal is just SO uninteresting to me. Glad to see general audiences liking the character designs though. These figs seem to be doing well and encouraging people to read the current (ish) books which is good for the longevity of the brand

You should make a video that goes over the basics of articulation, I always find it interesting when you start going over it briefly in your videos

7/10 is generous. I was excited about him, and I didn’t even like the aesthetics enough to buy him. The unevenly applied wash is distracting.

I do like the dark knights fig and cool to see the complete team very soon. This fig is way to small

Answer of the day- I dig all the variations we are getting from McFarlane now that they seem to have worked out an acceptable compromise between sculpt and articulation for the price point. I would like to see more character diversity, but the Batman focus makes sense to me. With Death Metal being the main Batman comic currently, I think Todd is holding true to the statement he made before the first McFarlane release. "We will walk before we run." Sticking to the Batman and his immediate supporting characters is walking. Figures like the animated Cyborg and Red Son Superman are just beginning to jog. I'm hoping when he finally gets to running they will have a smaller female body worked out so we can get a properly scaled Birds of Prey. I suppose it would be on the larger female, but I'd love to see a McFarlane designed Artemis.

I love these figures but I also read the comic books. and who doesn't love Batman it's a bunch of Batman from the negative universe. The articulation could be a little better in some spots

Mcfarelane figures look good in terms of sculpt.

Man my biggest thing about the mcfarlane toyline is the inconsistency with articulation. Like the figures look so cool then I'm reminded about the articulation and it keeps me from getting them. Even when there are figures I want from it like this or red death etc.

Nice sculpt, it needs more range in the articulation and some of the articulation points aren't well implemented such as the wrist and the jaw, no reason for the wash not to be applied overall and it's missing paint on the tong. The scale is completely off, they should have used the Merciless as a regular figure with a smaller size and this one as the BAF so it's height could have been higher, that way both characters could've been in scale. I would love to see them doing the classics since the ones we have are out of date but I don't think they have the license and I would much rather have them addressing those when they finally get everything right and that is if they ever do because the learning curve seems to be either very slow or non existent. To answer your question. Yeah its cool to have weird characters. Even if you don't know where they are from. Like batman combined with Doomsday is a cool idea.

I don't read comics, so It's mostly stuff that I don't know much about. It would be cool if he did more Movie or video game stuff with lots of articulation and accessories. If Todd is reading this, well made toys from Gladiator, LOTR, Matrix, the Final Fantasy games, Assassin's Creed, etc... I would buy!!!

This Batman hails from Earth -1, where Superman went berserk and kills all of the league apart from Batman. Batman lost an arm while fighting Superman, so he injected himself the “Doomsday Virus” so he could be in even footing with Superman. After killing his Superman, the doomsday virus spread throughout his world and infected everything. This Batman is named “Devastator”

I'm thinking, when this line first came out tod had no plans for bafs but people kinda forced him to do it, given the time it takes to produce a figure, dou you think he had planned to release those bafs as single packs or he just made those super fast

I love the dark nights metal figures (the evil batmen) mainly because I enjoy that story. But I honestly don’t care for McFarlane figures or the themes. They just keep making figures from random stories that are cool but who honestly wants figures of them? And for a line that mostly consists of Batman figures almost all the Batman figures kinda suck.

So, I haven’t read anything other than some one shots of the batmanified Justice League, but I’m kinda happy with Todd picking new stuff and more importantly characters that look amazing to make figures of. But it seems like along the way we are getting characters you would expect, but I’m glad most of these are off the wall. I wouldn’t mind a proper Azrael Batman from the original knightfall tho if I had to pick a more traditional version than the one he gave us.

I enjoy this stuff becuase its something new,something fresh. The only thing i dont like is when they keep rereleasing the figures just with slight diffrences. That jaw tho is like thr marvel legends baf lizard from 2018, its awful

So all these crazy Batmen stem more or less from a fairly recent comic line, and the story and background for each version is pretty solid and the overall story is pretty freakin great, so these figures are for those fans, and I can see why people that don't get why he's making these but I am almost positive this is him testing the waters with what he can do while also pleasing at the very least the recent comic book fanbase, not so much vets

It’s just too much Batman... I don’t hate Batman but my shelves for dc characters are just stocked up with Batmen and Batman villains, there’s a couple supermen and now little wonder women but mainly Batman. I’m just asking for more characters

Yea it's a universal thing with the arms. I saw 4 of them at wal-mart and they all had a lack of paint on the arms. I got this figure because it was 17 bucks at Wal-Mart and I gotta say the big guy looks awesome overall. I'm not interested in every crazy Batman figure Todd is making, but I have gotten 6 different Batman's of his and 12 of his figures overall. Next one I'm excited for is the Shao Kahn. I must have that one. My biggest consistent gripe with his figures is the laziness of giving a lot of these figured just trigger finger hands. A ton of them have that, it looks lazy and is unnecessary for a lot of them. The MK figures have them and not fist hands which makes no sense. I wish he and his company would stop doing that.

It looks good but i passed on it. I not sure why but something didn't happen when i looked at it. However, it still stems down to personal preference to own an action figure. I enjoyed your review and probably will still pass on it if seen again.

I dont get how anyone who would buy the multiverse figs if they didn't know about them....you have to have been under a rock not to know these characters tho. All these figures are from DARK KNIGHTS METAL. this comic run was a Juggernaut in the comic world!!!

This figure is too small in size in my opinion it doesn’t work with 7 inch figures but works better with 6 inch figures

I have 4 of this guy. They are all very stiff & sturdy. I don’t know why yours is so loose & floppy lol

I love the Elseworlds feel of those characters. As soon as I’ve read the DK Metal story I wanted a Merciless and a Devastator. I wish Todd will give us some of the less know characters and variants as I’m pretty sure every collector interested in comic book items already has a bunch or regular Batman and Superman figures. Personally I’m hopin for a Hawkman & Hawkwoman duo (plus possibly a Sky Tyrant)

Be careful bending the legs forward.the pin at the thigh snaps easily but this is 1 of my favourite figures ever...looks badass holding a 3.75 spin masters superman by the face😂

I like getting some lesser known characters but still too many Batman figures, but I get why they do them..........its Batman ! Mine is missing the wash on the arms also but my tongue is fixed cant be moved like on yours. and my joints are all tight (in a good way) I think you might have got another figure from the reject pile.

Its cool hes trying new and unique stuff but he really needs to balance between the unique figures and regular comic figures.
