Big L rode dirty and got popped like Souja Slim in New Orleans. They did so much terrible things to people over the years but got there’s at the end. Talented brothers that reaped what they sowed. Their life is a lesson for young people that feel they need to get over on almost everyone.
I got a story to tell. I saw Big L laying there dead. I'm from The Bronx. On the night he died me and my man Raquan went to harlem to cop some weed. When we crossed the bridge from The Bronx to Harlem we stopped at the light at the end of the bridge. We looked to the right and some dude came by running saying yo some rapper just got shot. We drove up and seen him laying there. Before the police and ambulance got there so the shit had just happened. But it wasn't until the next day that we found out it was L. RIP BIG L!!!
@@MizTheDonGargon That was bullshit. He died on the street in front of Delano Houses at 45 W 139 Street. That's how I know the dude up top is telling the truth because that street is right by the Bridge that goes to the Bronx.
For those that don't know, yo I'm Herb McGruff I'm on some murda stuff, and when I talk every verb is rough Front on this and get beat bad, with big bats that bruise, break bones, then wind up bloody in a bodybag
"DESTINED TO BE" BY McGRUFF Is a classic. I encourage you all to go back and revisit it. If you haven't heard it before don't Cheat yourself Treat yourself. #Promise
"I got McGruff with me, we puff much izzy." I was born a year before BIG L's passing and he still has affected me. Love yo's flow, style, before L, you never really heard cats rhyme like that. Still one of my favorite MC's and the punchline God.. Salute Champ
I love hearing these OG stories. CAM is one of my all time favourites no homo. I like how 90s artists knew one another like they hung out and shoot hoops and whatnot. Todays artists dont have stories like these.
That was sad day L was murdered miss those days we would play ball on 139-140st park. McGruff always been a humble dude just don't play dice with him lol.
@@justindegrace2318 not for nothing it was normal to see L but my first encounter was on the court pick up game. Back in the 90s alot of celebrities came Uptown to hangout.
The night he got hit, he was in the studio with shyheim the rugged child recording. He stopped in the middle of the session and told shy he’ll be back in a few … within the next hour or so he got hit! He never made it back to the studio to finish the track! Ask shyheim to come on your podcast and inquire about that! He even has a tattoo on his neck dedicated to big L. 💫 8/3/22 Bx
This is a great interview makes you think dawm we need more stories on Big L definitely a Legendary Artist that was one of the first dark style rappers with out of this world freestyling & delivery ♟♟💯👑
I Use To Rap Big L Verses Back In The Day At School Lunch Rap Battles Like It Was My Shit 😅Bcuz Nobody In My School Knew Who L Was 🤦🏽♂️ Must I Say Every Rap Battle I Was In I Killed Niggas 🔥🤷🏽♂️💯 Big L Was Ahead Of His Time By Years Lyrically Long Live The Goat Big L , Bruh Really Got Dealt Ah Raw Deal For Something That Didn’t Even Concern Him ! Sad
I did the same shiiiiiiiiiiit 😅😅😅 I use to rap the freestyle he did on that hip hop radio show with his crew. The one they have on video “We hold gats you hold knives, use sold 8ths we sold pies “
I remember a cat in the lunch room was rapping big L and Canibus lyrics in battles and I just stayed hush till it was my time to expose em. I feel like every lunchroom has a dude like that 😂😂
@@Lancelogos I'll never forget some dude walking up to me in the hallway saying "if I put you on my hitlist, you'll walk around rocking football equipment." Nigga thought I ain't know it was a cassidy line. Can't stand them types
"Sprinkle a lil big L on top, what fuck do you got. You got the illest and realist killers" Love that line. No matter what, Em holds it down for hip hop legends.
Rest in peace Big L.i have Mcgruff only one album Destined To Be 1997.i am happy to see Herb Mcgruff again 8 iz enuff he killed that track on Big L Album.
@@reggiekaz4147 after WW2 , we got spread out damn near everywhere fam, imagine being a black soldier back then, facing racism in America, go to another country to fight against somebody who didn't do a damn thing to you , you learn about their culture and all the bullshit America has done, would you honestly want to come back to America to be treated like a second class citizen again after putting your life on the line for your country...... shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid
Im 25 years old. My grandfather and great uncles are Kool and The Gang and ive been a student of hip hop since birth basically. Haven't found anyone my age that has ever heard of C.O.C lol
I bought that McGruff album after hearing his tracks on UNI-VERS-ALL. He was getting play on these backroad country dips downhere in Kentucky back in 98-99!
Big L was a good dude we use to be in the gambling spot on 144 8 th ave funny dude down to earth and Gary get some better lighting from the block 104 Columbus “Koman ou ye”
@Jucied Fetus i learned the story last night...theres a guy who breaks it down on here id have to find it..Big Ls cousin got killed by Gerard Woodley I believe..Big L and his other cousin Big Lee acted like they didnt know who did it and still hung with Woodley...they were all part of NFL crew..One night L and i think Lee tried to get Woodley in a drive by i believe...Woodley saw L's face and it was on from there..Woodley wasnt a nice dude and walked up on L and got em..that the gist of it
@@LITMOVIESCENES Big Lee is his older brother. Big L was killed in a drive by over something his brother Lee did, but Lee was locked up at the time…after Lee got out he eventually end up getting killed himself…..karma eventually caught up with Woodley though.
First experience with this channel and I got to say, that og Jay z sample for Can I Live as the intro is so sick. That tune is stuck in my head frequently nowadays so hearing it here tells me this guy is real.
McGruff's album Destined To Be was a hip hop classic in my opinion. I bumped that album for years after it came out. I got tracks on my playlist now. I thought he was gonna blow up.
Mcgruff been a beast . One of my favs from him is when he snapped on that track Pain N Agony with Cam . Been listening to him before then with Big L...If L woulda been still alive , Jay Z wouldn't had blew up like he did bcuz L was da truth....RIP Big L
I remember when I was in the Marines I used to bump that Mcgruff album heavy!!!!! " some niggaz may have, some niggaz may not have but god bless the child that holds his own"
We didnt listen to Big L out here in da N.O. When I got on my Mase s***, I heard about Children of the Corn and that introduced me to Big L. Dude was 🔥 🔥 🔥 We mainly listen to the mainstream artist from NY in early to late 90's like BIG, WuTang, Nas and a few others. Overall, we rocked with Death Row(Pac), Dungeon Family, along with our local artist like Cash Money, Master P and Big Boy.... After Pac and Big died, I got on that Mase, Big Pun, DMX and J.
Man I remember when I was a youngen and I heard McGruff track on that 8ball lost bonus CD Many know I believe it was called, I was like G@D damn dude is NICE af... 🔥🔥🔥
youtube spoke on it. The exact video is GOONS OF THE INDUSTRY EPISODE 8: the 139th street NFL crew.Start at about the 44:22 mark. He breaks the ENTIRE THING DOWN starting from the issues Lee had with other members of the crew.. basically BIG L bro (big Lee)wanted ol boy dead for god knows what reason. Lee had L give him a diamond chain that they all shared and wore so that the shooter could identify him. The killer froze up or whatever & didnt get it done and as its being reported BIG L told someone he or his brother tried to have dude killed or that there was a hit on him (BIG L killer)...even though he (big L) didnt send that hit. Naturally he found out what happen and did what he did to BIG L
allegedly Big L killer and Big L had some drug beef. Big Ls brother did time with a dude that was suppose to take the dude out. Big L was suppose to point out to the hitman who the dude was, When the dude seen Big L and a Hitman he knew what was up. BTW Big Ls killer grew up with the whole NFL crew and they sold drugs together.
@@floggyWM1 I don't think it was a drug beef maybe over his brother but not L himself. Cam and the infominds documentary explains it. However it still pisses me off that L wasn't all innocent he's a scumbag for wanting to kill someone in the middle of getting a record deal.
Heav kicked that off during that Soul4Real era. Saw her behind me on line at the fish market on '25th & Madi back in the 90s. She rocks with my peoples
