Road test editor Dan Prosser drives the new McLaren 570S. Is it better than a Porsche 911 Turbo S? Read our full review of the McLaren 570S here - www.evo.co.uk/mclaren/570s
Im not trying to shoot you down in any way but there is no job that can get you this car there's no hourly wage that's ill be able for you to purchase this car if you want cars like this u have to become an entrepreneur a living legend the reason I'm telling you this is because I use to think the same way but now I look at the world differently because I was fortunate to meet some wealthy people and they have shared there knowledge with me on how to become successful
yea your talkin about the owners not the employees I have surgeons and lawyers in my family I know there salaries and they cannot buy that car bro you have to be making at least 1/2 million dollars a year which most doctors and lawyers don't make
Fabulous video. The green 570S in the rain, on the track was stunning! Dan, you are getting really good at reviews. Good work. I hope to see the 570S on (dry) track again. Also, that sign at the end! RIP Ayrton Senna.
Why don't you let me go to sleep ? :D Alright, After Chris Harris's review, let's watch what EVO think about the 570S ^^ EDIT: Great video ! Sorry that you couldn't really enjoy all the car's potential on track.
TobRacer Xcar is basically all about reading well-written scripts which I found too unrelated to how the car actually behaves. It's way too less informative compared to either Harris or EVO
Those who deem this car ugly probably haven't seen one in person. I saw my first in the wild today in metallic dark grey (which McLaren calls "Storm Grey"), and it was stunning. Tiny, gorgeous little thing.
It's nice to see that you often come to Portugal to film your videos... I am glad to see the same roads I use on sundays for a little fun :P .....Once again, great video, great review. And btw great car, McLaren is making great cars nowadays.
Thank God the sports car industry is finally getting it! The vast majority of buyers never see a track with their cars. How they drive around town is far more important than how it drives around a track which the car will never see. For those that want a track focused car McLaren has what you are looking for as well but the 570 is doing for this line up what the 911 has done for the Porsche brand. Given you a lot of choices depending on what kind of car you are looking for.
I think Ferrari should be feeling some pressure here. The California T is unmatched compared to the styling, performance and price compered to the 570S. Bravo, McLaren, bravo.
Good review..My two favourite "ultimate" sports cars, this and the Porsche 911 turbo S. Seems to my mind that the Maclaren has an advantage in theory with its carbon monocell for that suppleness of chassis, but I don't know that you can beat boxer engines in mid-engined (or rear-engined?) cars. I wonder what a 570s would be like built upon a boxer engine, as well as the Audi R8. Could they fit a flat 8 in I wonder, and bring that centre of gravity down as well as cut extra weight on the crankshaft? Hmm.
There's a feature in all the McLaren cars starting from MP4-12C they haven't gotten rid of: It is when you change gear with one pedal the other moves too.
Excellent Dan P - good work all round (are you Jensen Button's brother?) Have never liked the McL road cars till this one - just the exhaust note - sounds like a 4-pot.
it annoys me when reviewers say a car is "more fun to drive" it literally means the car has "less grip" and "harder to control". To me traction does not take away from the fun, it just adds security for the driver. A car like the 570S is a great car no doubt, but being as lose and as easy to lose control as it is in the corners, it takes a little bit away from the driving experience for me because I have to constantly be cautious of my driving so I wouldn't kill myself. A 991 4S on the other hand is agile, fast and has very good traction, when I drive the car I feel like I can have the most fun and get the most out of it because I don't have to constantly worry about my life.
i think fun means responsiveness, controllability, feedback and a connection to the car while driving. I dont think less grip is more fun... but being able to back into a corner, mungee up the straights and still have plenty of grip in the corner makes it playful. Just having grip level so high that to kick it out or slide it into a corner becomes more scary than fun because you have to go twice as quick to have the same level of fun. My car has 500kw and 315 section semi slicks with rediculous suspension.... yeah its stupid fast, but my wifes smaller more agile car with pilot sports and less power lets you be able to play with it more and throw it around on the street (wring its neck so to speak) without having to do insane scary speeds. Put it this way.... an f1 car doing 50mph around a tight bend or a 911 turbo S doing 50mph around a tight bend. Turbo S you are hanging on having to hit the perfect line and keep the car under control, toying with the limits. The F1 car it feels like you could go twice as quick... so really it's boring and everything happens too easily, you may as well get out and walk around the corner.
its not anywhere near as simple as that. or you would just buy a 650 and put shitty tires on it... there less traction, u think it would now be a more fun car to drive?
Steve Sutcliffe described the brakes / pedal feel as perfect. In this review Dan says you have to stand on them to get them working. Probably his test car was faulty ?
Dan prosser is relatively new to the EVO's elite panel of test drivers. However this guy has serious driving skills and the chatter game while driving is improving all the time. He just needs to let his emotions out a bit IMO. I would still love to see Jethro Bovingdon doing these tests.
Surprising QC issues. Carbon sill either damaged or poorly assembled where it meets front wheel arch. Finish looks poor under driver's door. Driver's door alignment is way off where it meets the striker pillar. But hey, maybe chassis and drivetrain are perfect.
