Oh yes! When it comes to iconic supercars, it doesn’t get much better than this! Mat’s in the McLaren 765LT and this week he’s lining up against Yianni in a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The McLaren 765LT is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers an impressive 765hp & 800Nm of torque. This RWD supercar weighs in at 1,339kg and prices start from a staggering £280,000!
The Porsche 911 Turbo S, on the other hand, is almost half the price, coming in at £155,970. It may be cheaper, but it still packs a punch, producing 650hp & 800Nm from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine. However, it is heavier than the McLaren, tipping the scales at 1,640kg.

@@yanniblumstein1 The Turbo is nearly half the price of the McLaren and only 0.1 seconds slower over the quarter mile, and unlike the McLaren it is still a luxurious and comfortable daily driver. The Turbo is so much better overall in so many ways, and is only slightly slower than the one-trick-pony 765.

Simply amazing how the 911 Turbo S launches like an electric vehicle. It launched dead even with the Taycan but still has the power to pull away. Obviously the 765 is a monster, but the 911 Turbo S is something special for where it sits.

What i would like to know is what speed they were doing when the mclaren caught the porsche. The porsche was .2 of a second slower over the standing quarter with 100bhp less, 300kg heavier and £125k cheaper and stops quicker. What a feat of enginerring porsche.

Don't forget that this race was in cold weather in warm weather on street surface they managed to hit 9.8 sec 1/4 mile on stock 765LT.That time is equavalent to 900 hp Hypercars.And don't forget it's more than half a million pounds cheaper.It is an awesome supercar

@@honda900000 the drag times channels have done several drag races with his 720s, against several supercars and tuned porches and gtr. He even has a compilation video of his races. the only 2 cars that defeated his 720S was a 1000hp tuned gtr and a sf90 or something. Amd before you cry that it is tuned or something, his 720S is totally stock and he has cleared it to his audience in one of his videos too. Look man no hate to porche, those are some engineering masterpieces but doesnt mean it cant be defeated by anything.

@@cafiveohsrockbandremix9254 You've to see that the difference between the two cars is 0.2s from a standstill for the first 1/4 mile and the gap gets bigger and bigger after that. Also the 10s 1/4mile time is the best time for a RWD stock car on this channel. So, double the price of the turbo s has its meaning, compared to a similarly price car, something like a GT2 RS, the 765LT is the incredibly quick in a straight line.

765LT *destroy* the 992 Turbo S all day. Especially in the rolling race, the Turbo S looked like a snail to the 765LT. Even more impressive when it's RWD vs AWD. *I love Porsche,* one of my *favorite* brand but 911 fanboys are *toxic* and *salty* a lot of times.

@@Quattro_Joe I think holding its own is a bit of an exaggeration, even though the 992 TS is no doubt quick in a 1/4mile, the 765LT absolutely dropped it, considering it's *RWD* and this *isn't a dragstrip* and then there's a small issue of traction for the 765LT due to the two factors when starting a race from a standstill. It's quite apparent that 0.2s isn't much of a difference, but considering the traction issue then the time difference of 0.2s in the 1/4mile which keeps on getting bigger and bigger after the 1/4mile actually shows the difference between the two cars, I have to say that the McLaren won clean and the Porsche is just a quick car but not fast.

I am sure that it would be the fastest point to point car in most circumstances unless the circumstance is a drag strip. I also think it looks better than the McLaren, will be more reliable and is better made. I get the appeal of the McLaren, just not for me!

McLaren's traction and stability control systems are very, very good when it's wet outside. The 765LT may be "only" RWD but it's still blindingly quick in most real world situations. Porsche's AWD system is the main reason why it was only a 0.2sec difference.

The Porsche is very impressive to 60 as it just digs straight from the off. The 765 comes past it after 60 with the power. It’s like a fast bike from zero to 60 difficult to get all the power down but once at 50 plus it’s just gone.

Two amazing machines...hands down!! People seem to forget that the Turbo S was posting basically the same quarter mile times as the previous 720s. 720S still monsters the 911 Turbo S... 1/4 mile 911 is more consistent, but I've seen 9.8 out of 720S', but in gear or beyond the 1/4m the 720S absolutely schools the 911 TS... McLaren's aren't great off the line, but once in motion I'd not put anything ahead of it accept a Rimac.

I once again find myself impressed with that Porsche. It's around 150k cheaper and going up against a car with 800 plus horsepower(in reality),yet still beating it off the line i speaks volumes to just how well engineered this vehicle is. Porsche clearly the best of the two… reactivity is like latency on mobile phones, more important than bandwidth … also the braking is slightly better with the Porsche. I would be curious to see what would happen in a track race between the two

The 911 Turbo is definetly not the most track focused product by Porsche. There are the GT series more agile and more extreme towwards their overall set up.

@@stamy74 currently, the nurburgring record for a production is taken by Mercedes Benz amg gt black series, and if I remember correctly, the previous record or the one before is taken by porsche 911 gt3 or gt2. I don't think Mclaren has beaten porsche on the track mainly because Porsche's cars have better handling capability than Mclaren's. I don't reckon any Mclaren would be good enough to beat a Porsche 911 GT on track, for now EDIT: Porsche Holds the Nurburgring record at 6.38.835, so yeah, Mclaren wont stand a chance

Any learner drivers watching, please don’t drive with your arms straight out like Yanni always does. You have less control and btw, racing drivers don’t drive like that.
