The 2019 an2 2023 versions have different setup limitations and nobody ever talks about which one they are talking about. Having to figure this out for every car for every track makes it impossible to find the car for you and impossible to improve lap times without losing control of the car. I had control of both versions of the McLaren, but I could barely lick a curb without bouncing all over the place and then having to let go of the throttle/accelerator to regain traction, I found out that dampers are affecting this, not allowing the compressors to react fast enough or provide soft/fluid enough compression to get through chicanes without the car trying to take a daytrip to Jupiter every time I so much as smooched a sausage curb, I fixed this, then lost control of steering on exit, car just wanted to snake across a straight causing me to counter steer in both directions multiple times. at this point i want to find good setups so i can play, I'm really enjoying the car overall, both versions. but I need to know which version we're setting up for if I'm ever to make more progress. I practiced Zolder and Zanvort religiously over the past months, was streaking corners like superman on speed (no, not the movie) Now I can barely get a single lap without blowing a few particular corners (swinging wide off track or cutting altogether) Which version is this setup for, I don't want to change what control I have on my 2018 version without knowing a guide is for this vehicle in particular. I wanna be able to play for crying out loud. sorry for the rant guys, but I really need help, all this is making me want to quit and I know it can be a really good game if I figure this stuff out.

You definitely got a lot off your chest in this little rant. Yes it’s frustrating to say the least when you’ve spent hours on a setup only for it to feel totally different with ever change in game version. This is why I always leave the game version on the thumbnail. We’re currently in version 1.9.12.1 which isn’t a million miles away from the version this setup was created on but there could be fundamental changes. Without looking over all these setups on a daily basis I’d have no idea how different the car feels. Plus it would probably take me a few weeks of driving the McLaren daily to get used to its handling as I’ve been driving the Porsche for a few weeks now. It’s very hard to create setups and even harder to make it feel perfect for every driver. There’s always an element of whether my setup even works for you as a driver. I hope you find the heart to continue with the game… regardless of whatever challenges the game has had and still has it will continue to remain the best sim on console if you ask me. Enjoy. The McLaren is still undoubtedly one of the quickest GT3s in the game and very capable of 1:46s at Monza.

Hi Jay, thank you for this brilliant content! Questions: How do you switch between TC so fast? I guess I have the same wheel as you, but since most buttons are not supported by XBOX, I struggle with a good key mapping.

@@philippobonn In the controller setup menu move to the right column that lists all the options like gear changing, pit limiter etc. cycle down to the traction control section and set Y to 1 or the lowest TC you prefer and then X for the one you feel offers good acceleration without fearing any wheel spin. I need to look at a similar option to adjust brake balance sometimes but I don’t think I can do this. I usually select B for pit lane limiter and A to flash through my lights as it’s often useful when approaching back markers. The rest I leave for the MFD.

Thank you for the explanation! I'll check this out. How much seconds does this technique save you on one lap at Monza vs keeping TC at 4-5? And 2nd question don't you need a button for ignition to make the pit stop start faster?

Hi Jay, thank you. I'm not sure if I heard it correct, you run your series x on a 1440p monitor and you get 120fps? I'm currently using a 4k TV for my setup, things runs at 60fps, so if u switch to a 1440p monitor I get boosted? Thank you

This is a difficult one to explain because I’m only basing it off the information I get from the monitor. I can’t physically setup any kind of software to prove the frame rate performance other than what I see. I have a 4k monitor that’s capable of 144hz. If your TV is capable of outputting 120hz this will be an option for you also. In the display settings in your Xbox menu settings you can change the hz from 60Hz to 120hz. Once you’ve done this you can change the output ratio to 1440p. At 4k it want offer you 120hz only 60hz. In the game menus the monitor says 60FPS which is similar to pc. In the pc version I run the menus at 30 fps. Frames per second in menus isn’t important. When you enter a race or track based session the monitor shows 120 FPS. At times when this gets very demanding… heavy rain, lots of cars on track… this figure fluctuates as you’d expect so I can only assume the 120 FPS is a legitimate boost in performance when running at 1440p. Personally, for me… I feel the game runs better in this format 120hz at 1440p than in 4k 60hz. I don’t really notice a drop off in visual performance other than the blacks are less black… HDR suffers slightly. Hope that answers your question 👍🏼

Hi Jay, great setup although I can only achieve a 1.48.4 so far. Also I've just looked at my xbox settings and I've got 4k UHD + 120hz selected n my tv says it's outputting 119.8hz, 3840 x 2160P@120

Cheers bro… I might look to do a setup with this if I find a race in the XCL servers when I’m next home. Unfortunately works very busy for me at the moment which takes me a long way from home.
