I ran away. From the land I swore that I'd never stray. Such a magnetic beauty. It was always like she could see right through me. I was overwhelmed. Drained and depleted from trying to please them. They cared naught for me. As in the true, authentic person that I was meant to be. The facade grew old. When I go home at nights, I would bare my soul, to walls so thick and stubborn. Was that how my life was supposed to be governed? They reject the beauty that I am. For some silly notion. Retribution. Righteous indignation. Although you've won, my mind and body stay in a state of confusion. For how could a nation. A purveyor of love and affection. Treats its children with such disdain and condemnation. The scar around my eye, is a reminder of how I was subjugated, to their wrath and overbearing hatred. They say that what I am is evil and cruel, but I've never lifted a finger nor tried to make anyone a foot stool. I wish hat they could stand in my shoe. So that they could see, that all I want to do, is to give the best of myself to humanity. The same humanity that has me ostracized, claiming that there is no room for me to reside among them. Lest I be just like them. I wish I knew how to. But the change that they seek iis out of my reach. Give me the opportunity to teach. What it's like to be broken, like tiny bits of shattered glasses. How to painstakingly put them back together, like a puzzle done right. I ran away. But I am not running anymore. Because there is room for me to reside among them, as I am. Basking in her magnetic beauty. Perfectly imperfect. As we all are. Beautifully scarred.

The thing is that jamaicans don't recognize or acknowledge you if you didn't won a gold in 100m or 200m they behave like those medals are secondary medals. Jamaican people don't appreciate no other events in track and field other than the 100 and 200m that is why every kid in jamaica always want to do 100 or 200m even when they are not fast and would do better in other events. This is one of the thing that is holding back jamaica tracks and field from expanding in these champions in many different events like gymnastics, weight lifting, high jump ect.

The following sentiments is off memory, which may not be accurate. I think a lot of people did not like the fact that Omar compared himself to Usain Bolt. They also did not want to disenfranchise anyone who qualified fairly for the Olympics. Omar thought because of what he had done he should’ve been given some special privilege. I was also peed off because he spoke disparagingly of Jamaica in the media. That rubbed me the wrong way. I think that resonated with a lot of people also. With all that being said, however, I still wanted the best for him and still do. He could’ve learned a lesson from Usain Bolt earlier, which was not to put too much weight on what others think. People will say the worst things about you in one instant when you’re doing badly and the best thing when you’re on top. If you do it for yourself, then you only have one person to worry about Win, lose or draw.

I think Omar had the wrong type of persons around him as friends and inspirations. Why is it that no other Olympic champion is saying this. In fact the medal winners for the field events have more reasons to be saying that as Jamaicans big up the track athletes more. I think Omar has a self love problem. You need to love yourself first and then you will see that you are loved by your country. Also you will see that some athletes go back to their communities and give back to their school etc and this garners that external admiration or validation athletes are looking for.

There is truth in what he has said. Look at the attention that Sherika, Elaine, Asafa, Bolt and others get. I dont think it is a matter of "how they want to be treated or made to feel." Come on now, he wants to feel like its a big deal just like the other athletes feel. Megan came in 3rd and she was made to feel like she had a gold. Why was this guy not made to feel the same way? What is this woman saying? Even the under 20 athletes are already feeling like they matter. So whats so different with McLeod? And it has nothing to do with humility - he just wants to be rallied around like any other athlete thats all. Look at Parchment gets a 2nd or 3rd, the whole country rallies around him, Whats different with McLeod? Thats what he is saying. You guys need to stop making it seem as if he is expecting too much - for heaven's sake he is not just another athlete, he is a gold medalist, treat him as such!!!

Let's not forget about Elaine Thompson Hera she was and still is called the most derogatory words because she let Franno and her career is a bit tipsy turvey. People sometimes don't think these athletes have feelings too.

It's unfortunate that Omar made the claim that he didn't get the support when he was at the top of his craft. Omar is suffering from the entitlement mentality-he is still upset over the fact that back in 2021 he didn't make the JAM team plus things have not gone well with him since 2021.

Its not a blue ribbon event so I can understand why he would compare himself to perhaps someone from Jamaica who may have been equally successful in a blue ribbon event who indeed gets more attention. I do believe Omar is aware of that because he has on many occasions stated he wants to run the 100 flat. I also believe that Omar lashing out is not entirely from the lack of recognition but to trauma.

Unfortunately for Omar LGBT 🏳️‍🌈 is still not embraced and probably will never be accepted by Jamaican’s and Jamaica as a country. The LGBT thing is bad for your brand in sports in general..in T&F your brand is everything. Maybe Omar he can go represent USA.

Omar acts confused sometimes, not so long ago he was blaming his coaches for losing interest in the sport, last Olympics he blamed the Officials for not rescheduling the event during the Jamaican trials to accommodate him. He has changed his coach several times so now it's our fault for not lauding his achievements superfluously. He probably needs to seek a personal shrink to unlock the real reason for feeling the way they feel.
