My dog is a McNab. She is so smart and understands commands in English, German, Korean and hand signals. She does keep her tail up curled over her back when happy. She knows many tricks but I did see her herd my cat once with no training. My cat got out and she got low to the ground circled around him and pushed him back into the house, cat was NOT happy LOL She also can sniff out things you hide if you let her smell it first. That being said, she hates strangers and is more of a guard dog than a watch dog. If you come in my house and she does not know you, she will attack so we have to lock her up when visitors come over. She also can not be taken on walks due to this. She is the same with strange dogs but she did adjust when my sons 3 dogs moved in. Why is she like this? She was found on the street roaming about and was abused. We adopted her from the humane society. She is a very social dog with her family. We have had her for 7 years now and she is very spoiled and loved.
