You can tell he cares about his job abs community. Trash truck drivers here are not required to pick up garbage that falls from an overfilled trash can more less dump it twice. Nice job. Kinda cool to see the functionality of this machine.
I drive a rear load garbage truck and got run off a local road this week and crashed my truck! Sitting at home resting up from getting bruised up real good. I was very lucky, I was trapped in the cab at first but pulled myself free by the time rescue arrived. Was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and had a CAT-scan done of my head and X-rays of my leg and everything looked good. Only missed one day of work before goibg back. Still very bruised up and hard to walk at times but I'm not giving up. The driver that run me off never turned around and came back!!! They were all the way in my lane. Been at driving garbage and recycling trucks for over 13 years now and this is my first accident and clean driving record. I very easily could have died, the truck is totaled. Wasn't our best truck but I loved it.
I just love how the truck lifts up the Garbage can, dumps the Garbage in and then uses the blade to push the garbage down and even uses the crusher to crush the garbage! 💙💙💙💙
It amazes me how little is in some of these trash cans. I normally don't set mine out until it's full, but not overflowing. My thinking is that it's just one less can the driver has to deal with in his route, and if more people did that, he could potentially save a bunch of time on the route.
@@penguinclee89 Really is a waste of time. They could have put out 2 bins because if its 1/4 of the way full. that means 4 bins could go in to one other could still be out. And its also a waste of money.
@@Joshuasfunandgames3136 My garbage service gives you the option of different trash can sizes, I use the smallest which is like 35 gallons and I nearly fill it every week. I don't know how some of my neighbors and overflow a 95 gallon can every week.
I thought we were bad. We usually refill the garbage can 3 days after they empty it. We need to step up our garbage game and start throwing away more so we can catch up with yall
@@robertwalton1054 I don’t know how we cause so much. 2 adults and 2 kids. And I usually run around the day before asking neighbors if I can top off there cans cause I’ll have trash 2 feet over the top of my bin.
This is in Omaha, Nebraska. At 21:53, the truck is exactly here: 41°11'16.9"N 96°10'11.6"W. I found this out just for fun, because my 5 free minutes were up in Geoguessr. Used the "vote for MPS" sing dumped at the beginning of the video to find out we were in Millard, Omaha. Then used street names to find the exact location. :)
Usually those are handicap stops , I drive a recycle truck and have them on my route which requires us to go to the garage or side door usually to get the bins to bring to the Truck and take back to the door, usually called door service cause they are disabled where walking to the end of the driveway can be a struggle or whatever the disability may be, so they put them near the house which is easier for them.
Well our garbage cans say we have a crap load of garbage every week. My wife cleaned out the fridge and pantry and there were 15 bags of garbage for me to take out when she was done. A homeless person would've loved all the food in our garbage
2 things I saw that impressed me! 1) When a bag fell out of the can you got out of the truck and picked it up and then dumbed it again and 2) When you couldn't reach a can you get out of the truck and push the can in so you can reach it. Our POS lazy garbage guys will watch bags, boxes etc fall out of the can and then run them over causing a huge mess and if for any reason they cant reach a can they will just drive off leaving cans full until the next pick up a week later. O and BTW if the can lids are just a tad bit ajar they wont pick them up later. I wish our pick up guys were as considerate and professional as you are!
ikr same our garbage people once dumped our entire can with the trash in and compacted it and we ordered a new one and did it again and now we have to put our trash in someone elses trash bin it pisses me off
This had noting to do with him loving his job or that he's a professional at it. He's over doing it and or have an agreement with the company about him getting in and out when trash is dropped also getting in and out to make a cart so he can reach it and or to pick up fallen trash or one with a lid semi open where trash can fall out ans the driver has to pick it up.. he's an equipment operator and a manual trash man. So it's more of a safety issue in the end.. when you have over 1000carts and or doubles to pick up it is a lot of work in the end and dangerous for the driver to not have back up or someone to assist him.. many ways to see it and look at it..
Hi mate I watch alot of garbage trucks and I love watching your video thay are great to watch all the time thanks for doing the video for me too watch everyday Terry Ellis form UK

That grill could have easily been recycled, in fact, if you take it to a scrap yard you could get a bit of cash. It’s a shame things that are so easily recycled go to a land fill.

Because i study medicine and i watch only fancy jobs in youtube i decided to watch something different which is also interesting for some reason. For some reason i always had the curiosity to see how it is to be a garbage man.
In Australia we have 3 seperate bins for Garbage, green waste and recycling with 3 different trucks that collect each different bin. This is shocking to me seeing all this mixed up together 🤷♂️ I don’t understand why they don’t recycle here
Very kind of him to do that here in the uk it’s surprising if they empty the bins correctly without leaving rubbish/garbage strewn all over the streets
@@ndhkroatien999 Sorry not is job it’s curb service not run up to the garage service the problem with that is people get spoiled by that and expect it!!! Then everyone starts to do it and before you know it your running up every driveway!!!!
Drives me crazy how some people bag the trash while others don't and the amount of recyclables are going in people just don't care . I work in Ohio at a recycle trash company just sickens me to see what people pitch.
here in Ohio where I'm at they don't pick up recycling but we can drive it 15min to a recycling station that has dumpsters for recycling and they fine you if you have them in a garbage bag .. only recycling no garbage bags want you to tear them open and empty and take home your garbage bags .. screw that shits going in the 🗑 fuc em don't get me started about that clown dewine ohio is a joke
I don't care if boxes being put in the trash is a bad thing or not all I care is that it get taken away decide I burn boxes because of the space it takes up in two trash cans
Between the packer allowing stuff to fall behind it and the lack of a proper angle or sweeper blade to clean it, this truck looks annoying to operate. Awesome full hopper footage though
As a former "operator" I also saw the gap under the packer and wondered if they clean that out at the end of the day. I drove a commercial toploader and shoveled out from under the packer at the end of everyday. Down amongst it when you work for the City of Flagstaff.
I’d be interested in seeing Start of Shift, End of Shift, and if there is a mid-shift emptying at the dump. Pick your favorite truck to drive, route and collection media is at your discretion.
Great video! Love the LEU and Mack engine sounds! Cool use of the crusher panel too. It would be nice if they had a follower panel scraper like Labrie to remove the buildup!
It's not a design flaw. It's the driver and or company that makes the blade extend more into the belly or body of the hopper to pack more trash and less trips to the dump it also should have a rubber mat at the back edge of the blade to minimize trash falling behind the packer blade. If he makes sure his blade is retracted before each cart he would have less trash to clean out at the end of the day or route with packing 4more tons...
You would think the truck manufacturers would install one of those grinder things where the cans are dumped to grind up the waste increasing efficiency, and lowering the amount of time for materials to break down in a landfill.
@@gopackgo4036 @GopackGo I never said there were. Then again, by name, there wouldn't be. Synthetic generally means man made. However I can give you *many* examples of polymers that exist in nature. This isn't the point I was trying to make. The point I clearly stated is that if said wastes were ground up prior going to a landfill, it would "...increase efficiency, and lower the amount of time for materials to break down in a landfill." All wastes thrown into a landfill *will* ultimately be destroyed back into its base components by nature. A grinder on the truck itself would expedite the process of said wastes breaking down in the environment. Furthermore, wastes placed in a landfill don't magically 'fly away' no matter how small, possibly microscopic they are. Want to know why? Those wastes are covered with earth. That is what a landfill is, and what a landfill does. After said wastes are covered with earth, they begin the process of active decomposition, giving off natural gas, carbon dioxide, among other gases and chemicals that are collected and used. Furthermore, many landfills in the US have steps in which recyclable products are removed before being placed in a landfill. Fun fact. After a landfill is completely filled and the wastes have decomposed, said land is sold. That process takes 15-30 years depending on size. Go do a little research to see what happens to land that was a landfill at one time. You might be pleasantly surprised, or horrified. Personally I would like to see more incineration plants used for garbage, as it is a more efficient use of space, and generates electricity, at nearly no cost. Since you want to bring up the micro-plastic problem, and I do agree there is one, I can give you the major reason why its so. Have a look at how Asian countries dispose of *EVERYTHING* and I do mean *EVERYTHING* Asian countries *ALL* throw their wastes into the sea. Its not the US, Western Europe and other developed nations using the oceans as their dumping ground. In nearly every Asian country that borders the ocean, this is *commonplace*
Obviously we have the camera to see, but how do you know when to 'brake slide' the trash, is there a mirror or camera that you can see? And are there sensors in the truck that tell you if you are full? Lastly, I noticed the blade doesn't push at certain times, is it on a rotation or do you have the press a button everytime
Toller Beitrag!
Mate, I hate that hopper/compactor setup. What is it like on long lines of bins? Are you having to go slow or stop to allow it to clear after a couple of bins?
Makes me sad seeing all the recycling materials in this but then a lot sadder when you read up on actual recycling programs. Most of is is burned or put in the landfills.
@@medicalgarbage3575 you are welcome and I used to drive a garbage truck long time ago the money was great but my joints started bothering me so bad had to give it up
any mechanics in the comments? are the hydraulic pumps powered electrically or is there some kind of output shaft from the engine that drives them? also what kind of brake compound do garbage trucks use? i notice that they're pretty squeaky so I figured that they're pretty intense given all of the weight and frequent stops.
Not a mechanic, but the hydraulics are from the engine. Lot of times and other videos you can see and hear them rev to speed up the arm or packer. Brakes I don't have a clue about but there are different kinds. Some are screechy like this and some are like a dull groan.
