@@ABHelicopters aah hence why i think this training is relatively cheap. Awesome. Opens op a lot of opportunities. I am sure there is quite a speed difference when it comes to turbine helicopters?
@ABHelicopters
@ABHelicopters 2 года назад
@@WorivpuqloDMogh You might find the following video about the ppl of use- search : ‘How to be a helicopter pilot? Guide to the PPL’ As for the speed - it’s not quite as simple as turbine engine making the helicopter faster , but certainly turbine engines have a much better power to weight ratio, so the helicopters usually can go slightly quicker , but other aerodynamic factors , such as blade design, skids and airframe shape and size influence the top speed.

I noticed he had some concerns on continuing to climb ' with the anti torque pedals in the neutral position the tail rotor has a medium positive pitch angle and in medium positive pitch the tail rotor thrust approximately equals the torque of the main rotor during Cruise flight so the helicopter maintains a constant heading in level flight

@lavarclemmons1920
@lavarclemmons1920 2 года назад
so when you Bank it do you use your rotary pedals or is it pitch and throttle?
@ABHelicopters
@ABHelicopters 2 года назад
The pedals are used to control the direction you face when hovering , and to keep the helicopter flying ‘in trim’ - ie the direction of flight , at higher speeds. The stick between your legs controls the roll (side to side ) and pitch (nose up and down ) of the helicopter . The throttle we don’t need to adjust in normal flight as a hydro mechanical governor adjusts the fuel flow automatically

Do you always need to talk to the tower when flying anywhere?
@ABHelicopters
@ABHelicopters 4 года назад
Depends where from - and where you are crossing - it is possible to go from a back garden to another back garden - without talking to anyone - as long as neither landing pads - or the route - takes you through controlled airspace
@ABHelicopters
@ABHelicopters 4 года назад
Sometimes - even if you don’t need too- we check in with air traffic control- perhaps asking for a basic service - just to get the local weather conditions or find out if there is much activity in the local area - flying wise

@ABHelicopters
@ABHelicopters 3 года назад
Hi Tim, thanks for the comment- unfortunately the audio is about a second and a half out of sync - (forward) of the video - what happens next is a forward movement of the cyclic - nose down - unloading of the rotor disk - which is avoided in a R44 ( or any teetering rotor head ) in fact the R44 has a note on the cyclic - ‘Low G pushovers prohibited’.
