I think most ppl are talking about the scooters in the stores. A lot of ppl using them don't need them. They're for the elderly and people that can't walk very well NOT whole families, kids playing and catching each other, etc. You see the latter usually so ppl complain.
Thank you! I'm 48. Three years ago I had an accident and broke my ankle in four places. Three years of surgery, infection and physical therapy later, I can walk pretty well again, but I have both arthroses and neuropathy, so riding a bicycle is out of the question. And since I don't have a drivers license either, I got myself a scooter. Don't care cahoots it makes me look 70, I just love the freedom it gives me. But it's still nice when someone understands.
Actually a lot of people do even though they don't need it which is sad and there are also a group of people that physically want disabilities sometimes they'll fake having it or even take a physical route and I think anyone that needs a wheelchair or even a cane should take it just because u can walk doesn't mean you don't feel pain or can walk long distances .
My mother, who is a full-time wheelchair user, one time got told she was faking it when i was about 7 because we were in a supermarket and she stood up to get something. An old lady saw and told my mum she can stand just fine and she doesnt need her wheelchair and started yelling that my mum was faking it and everyone started looking at us. When the people that were staring at us looked away and the woman started berating my mum again little 7 y/o me walked up to her, put my arm in her hand, started fake crying and yelled "HELP! SOMEONE HELP SHES TRYING TO TAKE ME AWAY FROM MY MUMMY! I DONT WANNA LEAVE MY MUMMY!!" while reaching my free arm out to my mum. That made even more heads turn and people started whispering about the lady while i was still wailing and she was trying to shut me up. Security got called to deal with her and everyone apologized to my mum about what happened. I live in a small town where everyone knows everything so news about that lady spread like wildfire. She most likely moved away because i never seen her after that day. Still proud of 7 y/o me for doing that. I grew up to be a theater kid and that performance was only the beginning
@@Dragonz003 the world has always been messed up, but using a wheelchair is more inconvenient than useful for an entirely healthy person. If someone is physically completely well and they’re faking it than they have an illness of a different kind and they should still get help for it.
They probably think it doesn't cost anything. And they probably also think that the government gives disabled people tons of money that they can use for whatever they want.
If it doesn’t seem believable, then that person has never heard of multiple sclerosis! I can move my legs or stand, but I can’t walk for more than a few steps, and that gets me nowhere!
I also have MS and deal with SOOO many ignorant people. And, I’m so over people staring at me. I feel like yelling “TAKE A PICTURE, IT WILL LAST LONGER!” like a bratty 5-year-old. 😂
Yep, or injuries. I was in a wheelchair for a month as a kid due to injuring my shoulder and ankle at the same time. Someone in a store actually walked off with my wheelchair stating they "knew" I was faking when I stood up on my healthy leg to grab something. Because apparently the massive boot on the other foot was invisible? If someone else in the aisle hadn't intervened I'd have been stuck there holding onto the shelf standing on one foot.
Omg same! I have MS and I have some nosey neighbours that are constantly talking about me! I don't understand why people get a kick out of confronting a disabled person. Hope you're well, I don't know anyone else who has MS other than the 3-4 ladies I see every 6 months for my treatment
As someone who’s fully disabled but looks completely healthily (mainly invisible disabilities), DO PEOPLE REALIZE HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO BE DISABLED?? Had a old man tell me “I’m too young to be disabled” after he asked to sit next to me because his back was killing him, so I started listing off all of my 18 surgeries, only got through 4 before he apologized shamefully and walked away (mans was also disabled 🙄) Not that anyone has to explain themselves especially myself.
The "you're too young" hits hard. As a kid i had a notoriously bad memory (still do) but adults would laugh whenever i forgot something that i was too young to be so forgetful, and then they'd get mad if i dared to say i have a bad memory, like i was offending old ppl or something. I had undiagnosed ADHD.... my memory problems were a legit issue and a symptom that i had much bigger problems than just being forgetful.. Adult ableism meant i didn't get diagnosed until i was an adult myself, coz as a kid i just got yelled at for being forgetful and told i was "too young to act like that" -.-"
I broke my leg in two places and after surgery it hurts sometimes even now. I can't sit in train or bus because my scars not visible in long dress or pants and noone believes me about my pain....
When I was in uni, I saw someone using a wheelchair and moving their legs. I didn't know then that people didn't need to be completely paralyzed to use wheelchair, but I never dreamed of accusing them of faking it. I just thought it was weird and moved on with my day.
Exactly this. Before I became a wheelchair user, I used to be confused but not once did I think someone was faking their need for one. I think it must take some extreme level of hate towards other people to automatically assume everyone out there is just trying to trick or fake their way through their life.
I always knew you didn't need to be paralyzed because I practically lived with my great grandma who was always in a wheelchair outside the house but didn't even know what paralyzation was at that point. I still don't know all the reasons someone would need a wheelchair and would never accuse someone of faking it
Exactly. If anything, I would have been curious and looked it up on the internet assuming that they were not faking and wondering what they could have that would make them capable of moving but not capable of getting around on their own. Or I might have asked my parents if I were a child at the time, but I found out about it before I ever saw it myself so none of that happened.
I had this realization in high school when I met someone who I would eventually attend college with. I forget exactly what his condition is but he is able to move his legs and stand for short periods of time with some assistance. He needs the wheelchair to get around, otherwise he won't be going anywhere.
I’m tired of the ‘you’re faking your disability,’ which was clinically diagnosed by someone with a lot more medical training than you! Ugh. Thanks again for illustrating this to the masses!!!
@@Space0foxI am so sorry you experience that bias. You deserve better! You highlight a huge gap in addressing disabilities; and also made me realize that people with physical disabilities often experience depression, ADHD, anxiety disorders, etc! And people with mental challenges often have physical origins to their mental disabilities. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and issues. It made me think deeper about my own disability and others’.
“Why do YOU need glasses, you’re only a bit far sighted, someone’s who’s very short sighted needs those frames more than you!!” Is basically their whole argument
Omg, I wear glasses for my high dioptries but as I can read ok, the people are like oH yOu aRe fAkInG iT. I still can read ok if I FORCE my eyes. Guys, I would prefer not to wear them believe me
@@adinadutulescu8317 actually!! I don’t personally wear prescription glasses but I have some friends who do and they complain a lot (especially on hot days or whole cooking) for steam, or fog, or the glair of sunlight on their lenses. I’ve literally considered not getting cane (I have issues with my knees) because it would just be such a hassle
@@adinadutulescu8317 that doesn't happen to me because I can read if I force myself and the distance between the thing I'm reading and my face is lower than 5 centimeters, I've been told that I need to make more distance between my phone and me when I'm not wearing my glasses but if I do that then all I see is colours
I remember one time I helped one of the school helpers around. They were really nice, and they used a wheelchair. We were going on a walk for wellness and i volunteered to help push their wheelchair since they couldnt walk. They were really welcoming and nice about my questions. They said they could only stand for short periods of time before getting dizzy and faint. Probably one of the coolest people i ever met.
Gosh, i would have so much fun with these interactions. I would stand and say "oh my gosh, you’re right! Im healed!" And start excitedly walking just to fall on my face 😂
I actually had a similar conversation with my mother just today. People seem to think that just because someone can stand up, that means they can get around. I don't use a wheelchair but i do have to sit down a lot to get my heart rate to calm down. Some days im fine being up for up to an hour, other days I can't stand upright for more than a few seconds because my chest hurts and i feel like im going to pass out. She claimed i squat in the middle of the supermarket (there's nowhere to sit) to draw attention to myself/embarrass her and that I'm totally able to walk. Like i enjoy people pointing and laughing at me or something.
Then just an hour ago she saw a person on a wheelchair winning something (a medal at sports or something idk?) And that person stood up from excitement i guess, the video cut out right after that, both my parents FLIPPED. Accusing the person faking disability to win easier at sports and what not. I had to have the same conversation all over again explaining how not all people need a wheelchair at all times and how they don't know, the person in the video could have fallen over right after the video cut (as it was only like a second) Obviously they refused to even attempt to understand but whatever i guess.
Wow they need to do better as parents of an ambulatory wheelchair user. I'm sorry. Just reread that you actually dont use a wheelchair. Sorry about that. But they still should do better.
@punkypiez8872 sorry to say this bit your parents kinda sound like a peice of work. And that's kinda a red flag this sound like a situation where their narrow mindedness in a way is kinda inhibiting their ability to accept all of who you are and love you fully... I would perhaps draw a boundary eventually, or this unloving disrespectful behavior will continue and they may never understand. It been in my experience some times you have to put your foot down to achieve peace.
The free money thing always pisses me off the most bc that "free money" is literally not enough to live as an able-bodied person; let alone a disabled one with medical expenses. Not to mention how hard it is to access.
For real, my sister has been disabled since birth, won't ever be able to hold a job because of it, even work from home. She's 23 now and has been denied disability at least 5 times last I asked 💀 My parents kind of screwed her over being stubborn about "taking handouts" so she didn't apply until she was 18, I've been told it would have been much easier if they'd swallowed their pride and did it when she was little but just knowing the bullshit she's had to go through I don't know how much I believe that
@@flfb Yeah. If we didn't live in a low income area, what my mom has been getting for years isn't enough to pay normal rent, let alone paying the rest of the bills off and having enough for food, supplies, etc. She tried working years ago but she couldn't hold the job down. It's depressing. For every 10 dollars that gets added to her income she loses 9 due to rent going up. With bills and groceries going way up she wouldn't be able to support herself if I moved out.
When i was little i asked someone how they could move when they were using a wheelchair. They explained it to me and i felt bad for not knowing. It sucks that people like this exist and dont want to hear you explain and just want to plug their ears and believe what they want.
Lol. I know! People are so ignorant. Also when we mask and people think we can't be autistic. If I mask too much I'm gonna shutdown after and need way longer to recover.
That happened to me in the GP appointment where I asked them to refer me for assessment 😭 ended up referring myself (7 years later!) and would you believe it... I am in fact autistic.
They seem to forget the word "AID" in "mobility aid" means aiding. Assistance. You don't have to be completely immobilized to utilize mobility aid resources meant for people with mobility issues. And what ever happened to minding your own business LMAO. People will get angry at anything. The way someone uses their own property should not be up for debate
I literally am in a wheelchair 😢 and I get make fun of like once I said nicely "Hi can u help me grab this please" and they said "ewww no just stand up stupid" and that hurt😢
Damn, that's absolutely disgusting (their reaction). There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a disability! I want to see how they will react when they will become old and can't stand up for their own
Can anyone take a moment to recognize that she stood for the strangers role??? I personally think it’s amazing she could do that you go girl!!!!!! 👇 who agrees
My dad always said "People in wheelchairs are lazy" at least that's what he used to say until my nan ended up in one because she broke her leg. She ran him over when he claimed she was "Too lazy to walk" this woman has carers AND a physio therapist who has repeatedly said she'll probably never walk independently again. Needless to say when my dad gives his usual stupid, unsolicited comments me or her reply with "If she/I (depending on who tells him) wanted medical advice, she/I would go to a doctor." She usually follows it with "if i wanted an AH's opinion I'd fart." Needless to say she's one of my favourite relatives.
I worked at a rehabilitation center and most wheelchair user could stand up, but not for a long time as she explain in the videos, and dozens and dozens of health conditions can create this kind of issues. So it is important to never assume.
The last part is so true. (The essential items part) Just like pads, I'm not on my period right now, but I still have pads, lots, actually. Some other girl in the world is probably having the worst period of their life, and could definitely use the pads more than I am right now, but it doesn't mean that I'll never need the pads again
Okay so I saw a woman who was standing to get some ramen:) A little girl asked her dad “why is she standing up? She has a wheelchair!” The father explained it PERFECTLY and did NOT dismiss the question! MY PARENTS WOULD HAVE SLAPPED ME😭
I think it's because a lot of people seen things without knowing some people can stand or even walk and still need a wheelchair, because a lot of movies have people who are completely paralyzed in wheelchairs so they assume everyone is like that. No hate to the person who made this or anyone else. I'm glad we have people talking about it to share information.
I was one of these people to believe that you only use a wheelchair if you can't move at all. In my case it really helped to get youtube (or whatever) shorts to educate me, that wheelchair use is far more nuanced. Same with invisible disorders and needing to use the disabled parking spot. Thank you for explaining!
I totally understand the feeling of being told you are faking. I have orthostatic-hypotension, a blood pressure disorder. It makes it hard for me to get up and down stairs, stand up, and run. One time i was using the elevator at my school as usual, and I had someone come up to me and say “you dont look disabled so why are you using that.” I reply with “oh I have orthostatic hypotension, its a blood pressure disorder. I can pass out if I take the stairs.” This guy says “oh it sounds deadly, sucks for you.” And he walks off.
It is very sad, that in school we barely learn about disabilities. Like what is legally blind, what is partially paralised and so on... It is a lack of knowledge...
@@waffles3629 English might not be their native langague, im french and the french word for disabled is "handicapé" so it makes sense why someone would use that word
Hi hi, Eliza! My name is Lia and I really enjoy your content. I would like your opinion on something, please. I'm autistic and have been fully dignosed by NDAC (or NDAK, I can't remember) for 2 and half years now. I'm also hypermobile and my legs are effected the most. If I stand for more than a minute, my legs start to feel britle and like they're about to snap. It's very uncomfortable for things like the trains, buses and waiting line. I'm stuck shifting from foot to foot, making it look like I need the loo. Should I consider some form of mobility aid? If so, which would you recommend? Also, I recently lost my lanyard. Specifically, the card. I was very upset but I'm wondering where the best place to get a new one would be. I live in Dorset, so some of the shops yu might get you things from might not be down here, but I'm very determind little bean and will 100% find a way to get my little mitts on them. :D You're a beautiful, amazing and wonderful person and I'm so glad I found your content! You keep doing you boo! x
This is similar to a conversation I had yesterday. Disabled people need care but not all disabled people need nurses so why are carers almost always nurses??
People have got to learn to mind their own business, especially when it comes to these things Like, are you their doctor? No? Then don't comment on it.
I've been in a wheelchair myself in my 20's. I was honestly surprised that it offended people. I was called lazy, a fraud etc. i could walk with a walking stick, but it was painful and i had falls as i was meant to use 2 crutches.
I have a very injured back. I sometimes feel like i need a wheelchair or at least a cane or walker, especially after a difficult day. But I'm worried people will look at me and think i am using them for my weight, which i can't lose easily because my back is so injured 🙃
A year ago my friend had cancer and she needed to use a wheelchair when she was better but she could stand up and walk a little and people think she was faking... Now she is better! Her hair still short but it's growing very fast! I'm glad she is very strong and she is very well now. 💗
I just met someone with a wheelchair a few weeks ago and was wondering why they were able to walk because it looked like they had no problems with it but that actually explains a lot thank you :3
I had a doctor ask me if my cane was a fashion statement. I had to tell him it was for severe osteoporosis. So his response was; "Have you broken anything yet" Well, no. Because I use a CANE
Maybe it’s just because of how I was raised, but if I see someone with any sort of disability aid, my immediate thought is “oh, they must need that for something” and not suspicion.
I think that is prejudice against ambulatory wheelchair users is also determined by age. For example, my grandma (87) can walk short distances if she holds onto some else's arm, but with larger distances she def needs a wheelchair. I've found that people usually don't care as much when they find out she is not paralyzed, but with younger people the attitude is completely different
If someone is in a wheelchair and they move their legs just assume that there is some issue with 1. Balance (?) 2. Not being able to stand for too long 3. Their mobility isn't the best 4. It hurts to walk 5. They may have gone through a surgery of some kind which they need to rest their legs for but still need to do things 6. Possible amputee 7. Possible broken/fractured bone That's all I can think of 😅
I’m always being called dramatic for the fact that I have an extremely low pain tolerance so I’m always getting injured. I hate that people can’t just mind their own business, they have no idea how painful it is. I love that your trying to educate people about it though ❤
For four years, I was in such a condition where i could only take few steps a day, & couldn't sit for more than 5 mins without any sort of support. And, i have heard all sorts of variants of 'She is just lazy & not trying enough to move & to get well'. People do tend to think worse of others. My body just didn't have enough strength to support any movements. I had to literally relearn how to raise my feet & take a step, to walk a proper step, how to turn on my sides while lying down (I had to lie down on my back for 4 entire years!), I still can't sit on my feet in a squatting position, neither can i lie on my stomach for more than 5 minutes even now. With God's grace, I am on the path of recovery now.
I have this problem all the time with people. It’s not fair to us. I’ve even had a woman threaten to pull me out of my power chair cuz the bus driver wanted to have me get onto the bus first so he can strap my chair down
@@stillnotstill yup. I should I have called the cops but I didn't want to hold the bus up. It was running late already cuz the bus driver was trying to make her stop acting like that. Shes 1 of the people I've always had issues with.
Ya its so difficult being able to walk for a short distance but needing a wheelchair. So many people think I'm faking it too but if I try to walk too far my legs just literally stop working and give out. That's why I have a wheelchair it gives ne freedom. I completely understand these videos
No one on disability gets free money, this is why the social security administration intheUSA with holds$ from your paycheck. Maybe we should start accusing retirees of being too young to retire!
Bro, this is what pisses me off about some people- like this RU-vidr Ryth or whatever, he made a video on "exposing" fake disabled people, and one of them, this girl was on a live and had a wheelchair. They st00d up at some point, did a little small dance, and sat back down. Someone asked them why they needed a wheel chair, and they answered "because I'm disabled". Ryth then started full on insulting that girl and calling them fake--- like bro, stfu. And he said that someone who had Terettes (sorry if I spelled wrong) was "trying t00 hard" and also faking....... People piss me off 😭😭
Growing up, I distinctly remember a friend’s mother having some medical condition. If I remember properly, it was perhaps hereditary ED I just vividly remember her and her mom and her dad having to move out a month before we moved out. Because the folks in our little Midwestern town were absolutely shocked that her mom was an ambulatory wheelchair user vividly member of People at the grocery store being like she can’t be a wheelchair user if she’s picking things up the top shelf. She’s definitely faking it. I thought this was only a thing that was true for my time growing up in the suburbs of the Midwest. It’s rather unfortunate for me to say this. But I got folks in the next town over while I live in New Jersey, who have the same mentality.
When she said "someone else could use that chair way more than you could" and i feel like i want to say this "i bought this chair with my money not yours"..
I have a mobility scooter although I can walk with difficulty for short distances. I also feel I have to justify myself to people saying I’m not drunk because of my walking
I remember when I first saw someone stand up out their wheelchair I was like 😮😮😮 my mum quickly explained to me that lots of wheelchair users actually CAN walk but it's extremely painful and difficult for them also they risk falling over and really hurting themselves. Made so much sense after that ( I must've been about 6)
I would have said: "And someone could use that box of cereal way more than you could." (If they had cereal in their kart since it's at a grocery store.)
free money? What free money? There's free money?! Like seriously, I've had 0 income, like literally no income at all the past year and before that it was barely enough to cover my meds. I still need to pay for everything but I can't get financial aid since I live with my ex, his assets count towards mine, I can't move since I have 0 income. I have to skip meals since it's too expensive right now on his meager income. All my meds are almost gone and I need to get them refilled, but my bank account is in the negatives. On top of that I have compounding health issues, chronic illnesses and a shit ton of stuff that needs doing because if I don't, then no one will. Oh, and I also have a disabled child to care for. I am sooo doing this for fun and for the money.
My classmate in elementary school also had a ambulatory wheelchair. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at a very young age. She had flare-ups, sometimes she could get up the stairs without any problems and walk well, and then again where she had to sit in a wheelchair all day. As a child I felt so sorry for her. Her mother was always with her, my school even built a elevator for her
I always wonder why people are like this with people who have wheelchairs but not people with glasses they never like why do you have glasses you take them off anyway when you're not reading and stuff it makes no sense why they're like that with wheelchair users and stuff like that but not people with glasses can someone like please explain to me how that makes any f-ing sense
Glasses are more common to the extent they're relatively normalized, so people don't lose their entire shit thinking about people wearing glasses. Not that this really makes any sense but, yeah.
Ngl, I was the same way(looked badly at ppl who had a wheelchair but had use of both legs) until my father was diagnosed with a brain disease which slowly made it difficult for him to stand much less walk. Then we both discovered how EXPENSIVE wheelchairs are!!! And how difficult it is to get our insurance provider to cover it! Since then if I see someone using a wheelchair, electronic or otherwise, I don’t judge because I’ve been in similar shoes. I just hope that whatever they have they can overcome it and it’s not permanent. Especially when I see a young person, thoughts and prayers!
Had a similar situation with a former friend of mine 15 years ago, she is completely paralyzed but only on her left body half meaning she COULD stand up and even walk around but without having any kind of muscle-stability in her left leg while doing so. We had heavy snow falling but as we were waiting for the bus to come she really wanted me to push her (non electric wheel chair) to the next bus station a few hundred metres away. That wheelchairs front wheels always got stuck, I wasn't able to push her forward without tilting that wheelchair, thus making a great snow shovel out of that wheelchair as it collected all the snow underneath. She kept swearing and complaining about me as I really had a hard time keeping that wheelchair tilted with all that snow, walking through that high, fresh snow myself and taking care for edges that were hidden underneath the fresh snowblanket covering every obstacle i would have avoided without that snow. As I knew that she COULD walk herself, but just not pretty well, I told her with the next bus stop in sight that she can probably manage to get there herself if she disagrees so much with my attempt to get her and her wheelchair there. She stood up, swearing like never before, pushing her own wheelchair and then lifting that same chair into the bus before entering the bus herself and sitting down in her wheelchair again. Before that ppl at that station looked at ME as if I was a true monster, leaving a disabled person in a helpless situation (what I would NEVER do, if she would have been unable to stand up and go to the bus by herself i would have ignored all those harsh complaints but refused future "pushing services"), after she stood up the same ppl looked at her in disbelief complaining about her faking a disability. And that was one of very very few moments where I didn't care for ppl saying something like that, as it was her own responsibility to be left alone in that embarassing situation and she totally deserved to experience that it was a hard piece of work to move her much lighter, "empty" wheelchair through those piles of snow. Taught her a lesson that I am absolutely willing to help her but that a disability is no free ticket to be an asshole and that friends help her because they WANT to, not because they are her servants.
"people will do anything for the free money these days" yeah i definitely prefer being stuck in literal state-mandated poverty to (checks notes) doing anything
Like, how is me having leftovers gonna starve kids? Just cuz they are hungry doesn’t mean I’m gonna starve from not eating one more bite, or that I’m gonna make them starve, and it’s not gonna automatically make me like the food or make me have more room for food! Also, if I’m leaving so many leftovers, why don’t you give them to someone who needs them more than me, cuz I don’t want the leftovers if they aren’t good 🤦♀️!
My relative has the same exact condition as you do, she cant stand up for long and she needs a wheelchair. I used to find your content a bit cringe, but now i see that you sre a great person to raise awareness on such thing where poeple dont really acknowledge it
I have a friend who has a cocktail of chronic illnesses. He is a relatively spry person but any amount of sustained movement usually leaves him drained for days if not over a week at a time. His doctors have encouraged him to get a wheelchair, and a constant IV of painkillers but he goes without both to retain some sense of independence. It’s sad how ignorant some people in public can be.
Thank you for informing me of ambulatory wheelchair users, I won’t ever judge someone again ( I mean I was a child and I saw someone standing up in their wheel chair and thought they were faking it but I didn’t do nothing )
People use mobility aids for different reasons. My grandfather uses crutches due to pain while walking but doesnt use it 24/7 ofc, its something to assist him when he needs it same as anyone else who uses mobility aids for whatever reason.
It's even worse when they accuse people who are paralyzed and have involuntary leg twitching/shaking of being able to move their legs. Believe me, a lot of them would be overjoyed if they could use them properly 😂
@@stillnotstill fr, just because they aren't walking around (or rolling around in a wheelchair) all day with a sign saying "DISABLED" strapped to their chest doesn't mean they don't have something making them disabled
@stillnotstill it's even worse when someone looks at someone like me, with severe heart issues and mental illnesses, and says I'm not disabled enough. Like, what does that even mean? Sure, I can go about my daily life relatively fine, but that doesn't mean I'm not still, by definition, disabled.
@@technoredriot1587 my point is it's bad across the board and I'm not sure that saying so and so has it worse is necessarily true. It's bad for everybody.
@stillnotstill good point, I guess I should've said more annoying, not worse, because annoyance is subjective. I'm always incredibly annoyed when someone says the phrase "You're not disabled enough" to me, but I'm sure wheelchair users like the woman in this video are equally annoyed in their own mind by people accusing them of not needing a wheelchair.
I am a girl in a wheelchair for a short period of time since I went through an operation and I am still recovering, I am 14 years old and today I went to buy at the supermarket, I decided to try something new And walking with a crutch, as there was a cash register for people with reduced mobility, I went to that register and to my surprise a man, quite older than me, told me that I had cut in line and I should Follow the queue at the supermarket, he also said that I was only pretending to go faster, that I was actually walking... what a shame that people don't know that people with reduced mobility can walk even though Very short time ...
I know a lady who has Parkinson's disease. She can walk, but she tends to have falls, so she uses a wheelchair most of the time. She would far rather not have to use a wheelchair.
I remember when I had leg surgery a security at a Walmart followed me and told me to get off the buggy. He said I was too young to be using it, I told him I just had surgery and he said it didn't matter, I was young so even with surgery I should've bounced back. I said that's not how it works and I will not be getting off. He threatened to call the cops so I said "sir if you feel threatened by an under age girl and you feel the need to call the cops then do so, I am not done shopping." He followed me around the store every once in a while saying "okay time to go let's get up" I took like an hour in there and eventually he gave up. He tried to call the manager on me and all these employees. There's laws that say if I need it then I can use, literally anyone can 🤣
I remember I saw someone once say why don’t these kinds of wheelchair users just practice standing for longer each time to strengthen their legs 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 it was a tiktok comment I saw once
I use crutches if I have to walk for more than 5 minutes. People shake their heads if they see me with or with out them. One asked why I want attention. Bc it is fun to walk around with crutches , my hands loves to hold on to it, when it is warm and humid weather and my hands are soaking from sweat. Yes, I love the attention -_-
