He gets sheepish about it too. I ran into him and Phil Sgrosso at a Fallujah/BTBAM/Devin Townsend show, and he was so bashful when I said he was a guitar hero to a lot of us growing up in the early 2000’s.
"other than that it's pretty much stock". other than pulling out the neck pickup, disconnecting the tone knob, taking out the pickup selector, switching the bridge, tuners, and nut. it's stock. hahahah
Love the band just got a mij wolfgang lost my 1st one in 2000s to drug addiction so this one is a special reminder of being years clean and i slso sweat when i play so i know how quick it destroys parts on a guitar esp the fine tuners of a floyd , great idea to just out smart it and build it sweat proof lol keep rockin bro
I have always been a super fan of you Adam even seen the price is right when u were on it and dominated the show..I did a version of your "my last serenade"let me know what u think love you guys
got the same problem with the sweaty hands and it f***in' sucks when im playing guitar...my pickups have metal covers and they've already started to corrode...thinkin of replacing those with emg's since they have plastic covers and a great sound
It's weird he needed to remove the fine tuner bridge... His Caparison PLM-03 had a fixed, fine tuner bridge too. Furthernore, the Wolfgand fine tuners are further away because they're built into the tailpiece, as where the Schaller on the Caparison, the "tailpiece" and bridge were all one piece and that guitar lasted him a long while.
Oh my god, I learned more about his sweat than his guitar. That's ok I guess . Can I buy a waterproof Adam dutkiewitz signature series? All bullshit aside, you're awesome dude. Keep it up.
Screwing into quartersawn wood yields less "grip strength" Because of the orientation of the grain. The screws move more easily from side to side and are likely to pop out. Much like strap button screws when you screw into end grain on the side of your guitar.
Eddie Van Halen's gear is the best, down to his amps, the peavey 5150 and the fender, and his guitars are top notch, i just think modifying them is weird because he has already put so much thought into them , right? I guess do what you want, thats what led him to destroying so many guitars to learn what he liked, and wound up making the first superstrat!
If you see these guy play live, he is literally jogging in place while he's playing and jumping around. I was close enough to the stage during their show this year in LA with Anthrax and I could see sweat pouring off his elbows. Its funny cuz he comes out to play in workout gear, got some short shorts on, tank tee, sweat band on his head and running shoes with a knee brace. Guy either came to play a show or workout lol really talented nonetheless
I'm so happy to hear that a popular musician shares my dilemma. Of course, I have hyperhidrosis and I sweat so much that sometimes I just skip playing my guitar even though I want to play it... The sweat corrodes the metal and my fingers just slip off the damn strings.... so frustrating... It makes me wonder if I could ever stand to play on stage under the hot lights... even though I WANT TO REALLY FUCKING BAD.
This is why I can also never have black or cosmo or any other color hardware. Worn and rust from my sweat pretty quick. I could only imagine if i was a pro night after night. I doubt I'm as sweaty as him tho.
I have the derpest hands compared to him, that's why I feel like I've lifted the world after beating my hands into being able to play some of his riffs. Any hard riff.
They're monstrous guitars honestly. With the type of shit he does on stage and the strain he puts on his guitars, I'm surprised that's all that happened.
But don't forget, parts like the bridge, nut and tuners he changed only because he didn't like the floyd rose system (which makes me wonder why he chose that guitar in the first place) The story about the neck was terrifying though...
+jonathan Svärdh He didn't /have/ to, he just did it more or less for the sake of simplicity and for the sake of having less stuff to break courtesy of his corrosive sweat. Ultimately if you put your guitars through hell on tour, stuff will break catastrophically, but luckily Adam D has a killer guitar tech and enough fans in the guitar industry to be able to not worry so much about it like most of us would. That being said, EVH guitars are actually really solid instruments. I mean, they're Fenders, practically.
+DropdaLTDtoB I believe that he used the set tail version of this guitar which does have fine tuners and a locking nut , much like Mick Thompson's Ibanez signature
I can't believe that one of these guitars go for over $3000 and is supposed to be as Eddie Van Halen puts it...."Bomb Proof". I guess not. The chrome is supposed to be better, the neck joint is supposed to be superior, but you're having issues. I bet an 80's kramer would hold up better.
I think you might be the strangest individual I've ever seen. you're trying to tell me that you can't have a normal guitar because you ooze corrosive sweat so rapidly? you are a totally bizarre individual. I wish I never clicked on this video. I was hoping you were normal and would talk about your Wolfgang. I should have known a band called Killswitch Engage must have lunatics in it. Like WTF???
its a late answer ,but he sweats because he can't stand still during live shows.hes always jumping, running on stage and fooling around from first to last song.so no wonder he sweats alot
