ME ME~BANDMAID REACTION- Choose Me 

These women have been together for ten years . Toured around the World. Are all or near their thirties. Have control over what they write both lyrically and musically. If they ever make a song I don' love then I will stop watching and buying their albums. They just are a great throw back when music was fun and instantly recognisable. Not like the almost throw away music we have had recently. Band Maid really are the real thing and their live performances are truly unique.

Kelly, I'm glad that you have discovered Band Maid. In my opinion, Band Maid is the most versatile J-Rock band out there. I consider them a pan-rock genre band. They have played and can play ANY style of rock music. If you take the time to react to their many and varied songs, you will see what I mean. The Maids consider their outfits as "combat gear", because they work their butts off on stage and DESTROY the stereotype that women wearing maid costumes can't rock as hard as anyone. I hope you get a chance to catch one of their live concerts. They are amazing. I saw them in Atlanta, my hometown, in May and I am now going to be traveling to Minneapolis in August to catch a second concert. I have never done such a thing in my long life.

A thing about the maid outfits, Kelly: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

For me, the pleasure of listening to vocals in other languages is to be able to concentrate on the vocal melody without having to use a different part of the brain on the words. I check the translation later after I have listened to the song a few times to find out what it is about.

THE best Hard Rock band in existence. Always choose Band-Maid and you won't be disappointed. Treat Saiki's voice - melodic as it is - as an instrument for the first listen and maybe check the lyrics (which are usually more meaningful than most out there) on your 2nd listen. Then it'll all gel on the 3rd listen!

My first exposure to a foreign language song was 1963's smash hit "Ue o Muite Arukou" (I look up as I walk) by Japanese crooner Kyu Sakamoto. It was different and made me think of Japan as more than just a country where my toys were made and Godzilla lived. Despite the lively xylophone intro and horns, I much later learned it was a song of lament "I look up as I walk so the tears won't fall". Maybe as a follow-up do the live version from the 2020 DVD live concert from Japan.

"Choose Me" and "Blooming" were featured in the Netflix movie "Kate", the former about 30mins in and the latter almost at the beginning of the movie. Do "Endless story" and "the Non-fiction days" sometime.

I would highly suggest the live version of this from their February 2020 Line Cube Shibuya concert available on their channel. This is what many of us call the messed up co-dependent love song. There are some other connotations I won't discuss here.

I've been a Band-Maid fan for six years and I still know barely any of their lyrics (though I do know they are really well written) and I just don't care. ❤

As far as the outfits go I think it's refreshing to see women in music who aren't flaunting "T and A" to get views. The day Saiki twerks I'll shut them off. Seriously, have you seen some of the other acts?

Even for English speaking bands - I have a hard time understanding what they are saying much of the time. Its OK because I'm in this for the music not the lyrics/message.
