We climbed these two Munros from Glen Dochart near Crianlarich and it was a tough day. After climbing Sgiath Chuil, there's 300m of descent to the boggy bealach before the ascent of Meall Glas. Crossing the bealach is pathless, boggy with peat hags to avoid. It was Racheal's 1st and 2nd Munro and thankfully she's still speaking to me and it hasn't put her off! A fish supper in Callander on the way home was just what we needed.
My videos are not intended to be an exact guide to any hill, mountain or low level walk that features in the video. I don’t cover every aspect of the route, terrain or difficulties.
Please refer to walkhighlands.co.uk or the book by the SMC, The Munros - Hillwalking Guide, for detailed walk descriptions.
Stay safe out there and enjoy! 😊

I had never visited Scotland previously but was lucky to summit meall glas and ben lawers whilst I was wild camping around loch Tay this summer. I made it all up to river lochy, along glen lochy and up Allt a'Chilleine too. Quite the adventure!

Looks brilliant. Me and my dad went up there yesterday, but conditions were near white out and temp at the top was -15. Completed Sgiath Chuil but decided it was best if we called of Meall Glas due to the conditions, and we are planning on going back up next weekend to do Meall Glas.

You definitely did the right things by turning back after Sgiath Chuil. Once you decend into the glen you’re committed. There’s no real path leading up the 2nd Munro or path back out. The terrain is tussocky and full of peat hags. This was the point where there were a few tears from my daughter. 😂 Enjoy Meall Glas. Thanks for watching. 👍

Well done Linda - I did those two on a lovely sunny day but they were still added to the 'Munros I will only ever climb once' list 😀 Look forward to your next adventure.

Thanks Selwyn. I agree, once is enough for these ones! Although I might be tempted with Sgiath Chuil on it’s own on a good weather day. 😊
