as a gay guy I honestly prefer the 2004 version, not just because the og is iconic but i think the 2024 are not “realistic” queers, they are too much stereotyped
That isn't the point of the queer or gay plotline. The point is he doesn't care. That was the point of the original 2004 version too. It's actually the opposite of what you think.
I don’t care what anyone says, I think this is a great adaptation of the musical and the og movie. It has its flaws of course, but to me is everything I want in a musical movie: it’s camp, it’s unapologetic queer and fun to rewatch
YES. This. Literally I had such a fun time watching it and I see everyone hating on it. The OG is like my favorite movie of all time (because I’m basic 😚) and I think the 2024 one was pretty good.
i really was trying to protect this movie when i haven't watched it, because i thought it would be like the DEH adaptation where people didn't like it but i loved it, but they really fumbled the bag. the lead was just not cady, and the pacing was so off. damien, janice, and regina was really what saved this film
Personal opinion: Cady, Regina, Gretchen and Karen were better in the original but Janis and Damian were actually better in the remake (props to Moana and this kid)
Literally 2 minutes before they announced the song he was singing in French I told my boyfriend French sounded beautiful sung and then started losing it 😂😂😂
Did anyone else catch him say “thank you, next 🙄” during the plastic’s dance? I laughed so hard because the scene was in Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next 😂
I love that in the original movie Damian is only funny because of what Janice says about him but in this he has more funny moments and is funny because of his responses also I love that he flirts with that guy in the cafeteria
They made his character act wayy too "queer" in the original, it was more up in the air. He just seemed like a really good friend to Janis and a good comedian.
