I noticed everything she said while watching the movie (before I saw this video). She did an outstanding job on picking the costumes and their meaning.
An American department store, like Macy's or JCPenney. She was refferring to that because the clothing there catered to her size instead of 1-3-5. It was an insult because of both that and the clothing was seen as cheap and inexpensive, in contrast to Regina's expensive, luxurious clothing she favored.
@Alex Walsh It’s called a costume designer, you need to do a fashion school (very large name but I don’t know any other calling). Wether you start at high school, or a formation after graduating, that’s the idea. You can later work for movies in cinema, or tv shows (I recommand you to watch this video on the costumes design in Desparate Housewives, the woman talking about her job and how she dresses actresses is very fascinating : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t1StTQvTaCs.html ), even tv and radio (less fascinating if you ask me but I’m adding it anyway). Maybe it’s not at all like that in America but I’m French and in France this is how you become a costume designer. There’s also this amazing compagny called “Angels Costumes”, they dressed actors/actresses and extras for a lot of movies, like Titanic, The Aviator, The Great Gatsby, Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola’s) and much more to name a few. Here is a link to their website : www.angels.co.uk/abts/ (they have a book of behind the scenes for about 40 dollars). You can also search on Wikipedia “costume designer”, to get a precise and deeper idea of that job. I just created a playlist with a few videos of costume desing in cinema if you want : ru-vid.com/group/PLHcb33gloevB0d6sV4vf3-WTz_pG9d8AR . I hope I helped you get an idea of costume design, I love thsi area very much, so much that I’m gonna go to a fashion and clothing high school (“lycée des métiers de la mode et du vêtement”) next year. Have a great day and you can always reply if you have questions or if you want help, videos recommandations, films names with great costumes, etc (nota bene that by “costume” it really means fashion, not automatically period film’s clothes). Okay so maybe you meant “dream” as in that’s such a cool job to do so you’ll be like wtf is she writing 😂, but I really know what it feels like when you have an idea and just doesn’t know how to get started, so here you go. ❤️ (@Melissa Maldonado I’m tagging you so you can see this reply).
7:29 Rachel looks so cute lol 🥺, so this is how Regina would look if she was genuinely and happily smiling as opposed to her manipulative, plastic smile 😆😂😍🥰
who is peter satan ? I don't believe the production is effective based on a mom who gives Regina the right and approval that is made up cz if u grow up in a home where u get involved with kids and not force control and how they feel they be in touch with their hearts and seek control
This mentality is what caused the messy costumes in Mean Girls 2 and literally any Disney channel teen movie. Costuming modern teenage characters is a meticulous process because one has to actually analyze what fashion trends mean, why teens dress themselves in certain ways, and how to portray these characters realistically. The extensive research essentially makes this film a period piece, and that’s why the costumes are still iconic to this day.
