I have been priveleged to see Mean Mary three times on UK tours she has an astounding and versatile talent and I hope to see her again when she next tours the UK

America is not what you see on TV or in the big cities, America is what you experience as you travel across her vast expance of diversity. And when I say diversity I don't mean the type that is trying to choke her, I mean the people filled with the love of freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Mean Mary personifies the idealism of the American people.
Mean Mary is awesome. She has such a unique style, down home, simple country girl chalk full of talent. I love to watch her and her brother play. Hope one day this poor-boy can actually see her in concert live. One day maybe. Mean time keep on playing. We love you and your music.

I think Mean Mary (Probably the sweetest person you'd ever meet )Is so humble ,she knows how bad ass she is .I have always since high school admired women like her .Crazy cool ,crazy talented Yet two feet firmly planted humbleness seems to be her thing .So beautiful as is her music
Mean Mary ... not just very Talented... but Beautiful as well! ( One of my favorite Dancing songs " Cottoneyed Joe" ... I taught myself to play it on Electric Guitar [ A Candy Apple Red Fender Jazzmaster and my Takamine Cutaway Acoustic] back in the mid 70's mainly because the Country dance band I was in ... we didn't have a Fiddle player in the band at the time!) One night at a gig ... I even got out on the dance floor in front of the stage with a few girl friends of mine and danced the Cottoneyed Joe while playing it on my Guitar ... Ooh the memories from my youth, had a " Ton of Fun " back then! 👍👍😎
So perfect at everything she does. I personally rank her as equal to any of the master musicians in the classical field. She has elevated this type of musical presentation to that high a level, and she'd probably be the lone occupant of such an elevated class. For me, she is hypnotic.
I only clicked on her from a sidebar a few weeks ago, and yes, I'm beginning to see that she IS a virtuoso . She's great. As a Scot, this appeals to my atavistical musical senses.
I was saddened when Roy Clark died, thinking they really didn't make them like him anymore. People that are just a part of the music they play. Then I found Mary.

This woman has been talented for years,and the music for Ken Burns Civil War series was one of my favorites. Seen her at the renovated theater in Lapeer, around 6 yrs ago in Michigan. Thanx for the memories. I need to pick up the old 5 string again.
If someone had told me one day I would listen to banjo I would have said, never. At 65 I've been enjoying Bluegrass for the last 2 years. Discovered it one morn in LA. You're the best and have opened a new world in my my eclectic nature. Bless you..
Came across her on RU-vid playing banjo just by chance, what a fantastic musician and this video shows how versatile she is, brilliant. It's also opened my ears to a genre of American music I haven't explored in any depth before, shame on me!
Mean Mary is the most amazing artist in America today . Her concerts are a must if she is playing one anywhere near you. She was nice enough to do a house concert in St Louis last July-i went-i am now an avid fan of her beautiful music and her gracious presence.
I don't pay attention to how others like or dislike Mean Mary. All I know is i wish i could play as many instruments as her and as well as her. There might be a song or two you may not care for , but you still can't say she did'nt played it good.Not every song can always be liked. There are musicians I really like ,but there are a song or two by them I don't care for either. If you don't get what I'm saying "oh well""

I never liked this song be ause I only knew it as tge remixed version played at weddings. This is unreal! Glad I found this version...it makes up for each and every suffering I endured at various wedding receptions!

No wonder the audience was yee-haa-in' fit to bust, this gal's a tremendous artist. America, why do you hide talents like this yet oftimes export the most mediocre? As a Scot, I have to say that the Scots/Irish roots in hillbilly(?) music is very clear-- you just tend to put a little of America in it, and do it better!
Just like great single malt you have to look in unlikely places for the best. The fun is in the discovery. Cheers from a descendant of Scots immigrants.
I agree with your above statements, and while I am a born-and-bred suburbanite, I can appreciate hillbilly, bluegrass, and country music. I also have Scottish and Irish heritage in me (two Irish grandmothers, one Scottish great-great grandmother), and can recognize (and appreciate) where this type of music stems from.
You are so on point here! I gave up listening to radio years ago because they always repeat the same seven most popular mass market pieces of vapid drech in rotation. Our pop culture is to put it mildly not something to be proud of. I always go to youtube to find real outstanding and unique talents and get rewarded with stuff like this. Check out the Civil Wars a county/folk duo iif your not familiar with them. I promise you'll enjoy. Slainte!
