Whoever is responsible for her video presentation style is also an artistic genius. I wouldn't be surprised it that's her also. I'm totally astonished by her.
Oh the joys of setting up for an outdoor gig! I once ran an outdoor concert for 50 people in the West Australian goldfields. It was nighttime and a million bugs were buzzin' around the lights we had set up. Not to worry, I just rubbed insect repellent into my arms ... which did untold damage to the lacquer finish on my Gibson guitar! Thoroughly enjoyed this clip Mary, the video was sooo funny and the singin' (sangin'?) was excellent! Loved it! John.
I only came across Mean Mary a few weeks ago, and I was nothing less than astonished by her level of talent. Much like Ry Cooder, she seemed to be born with a guitar in her hands, excelling in banjo, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle; and like Lorretta Lynn, Allison Crowse, and Emmy Lou Harris, a gifted and original voice to match. What a wonderful artist.
One of the most beautiful women in the world with one of the most astonishingly incredible vocal capacities. I have listened a dozen times and could listen a hundred times, and could never tire of her aural muse.
Mean mary of many genres! What a blessing to experience such a genuine talent and gift. Thine ears hath been blessed by the sweet, sultry twang of the Goddess of all things stringed!♡♡♡ Mean Mary ♡♡♡
After seeing Mary perform and meeting her, I can say, I heard an angel sing and met a truly good and humorous soul. She is a rare and special person. I love this woman like a granddaughter. I encourage everyone to go and see her perform in person. Then and only then will you understand.
Your videos still Killin me after all these years.First time I've seen you with an electric, though. The guy diving in the tent smokin was hilarious...
I just discovered you a couple of days ago, via your Iron Horse video, and immediately thought: "I need this music in my life!" Your voice and playing are pure beauty, and the lyrics are just as evocative. I tend to be rather selective about my music purchases, but I'm now the joyful owner of a copy of Year of the Sparrow, and am investigating your other works. So far, they're all fabulous! You clearly have a lot of fun with your work, and I hope you continue to do so for many years to come. Thank you for sharing your gift. Edit: Six years later, and I'm still a huge fan! Keep em coming, Mary!
Mary I have to say, wow, you really are so talented. I just can't imagine what it must be like down in the "Big Red Barn" on Saturday night. I bet it is a heck of a jam session. Love it, more pplease.
Kinda sound like Reba Mcentire in this song, the song itself especially with the video is soo empowering. Thank you for having the courage to be genuine. It's not necessarily about reaching as many people as you can but more about reaching those you were meant to.
I feel bad for anyone who hasn't listened to your music! I've heard many, played with some, but I gotta tell you, as talented as you are, you should be a household name!
AWESOME... apache standing on the cord was LOLH EVERYONE needs to goto [ www.meanmary.com/home ] & sign up for EMAPTHETIC Mary's newsletters & concert alerts... also a store to buy merch & all her wonderful music- support our NATIONAL MUSICAL TREASURES- yo!
The only artist who is Mean Mary's equal in musicianship, performing, writing, and all-around artistry is the late John Hartford, bless his memory. Mary is worth a thousand lesser talents. She is the blazing North Star in a sky of dim bulbs. Shine, Mary, shine!
Please come play Earl's Hideaway... they say "Blues" but they play other stuff, Zydeco, Southern rock, etc. The crowd would LOVE you! Back in FLA, book a gig for the winter!
