Basically, in this video, she's explaining that it takes 4 rows of double crochet to equal 2 inches in height and, there's only so many double crochet stiches with in a double crochet row to equal a certain inch. For example, if your pattern calls for 2 rows of double crochet and those two rows should equal 1 inch in height then your tension should be consistent to meet that 1 inch goal. The way she described it may have been not as elaborate as it should have, but she tried. ❤ Hope that helps!

@karenperreira3508 Your tension is how much pressure you are putting on your yarn while trying to create even stiches. You have to find a video or article or friend who can truly show you where you'll understand how to hold your yarn and apply pressure when needed. At first, it may be hard, but tension is very important in crochet and will affect the texture in your work, the gauge, as well as its look and beauty. Practice your tension at least 5 minutes with a nice long strand of yarn for at least 3 days a week. Allow yourself to get comfortable feeling and seeing where pressure should be applied when creating your stiches. Trust your yarn and, most importantly, trust yourself. You "can" do it!

@karenperreira3508 I understand. I was trying to explain how to better your tension. Pressure is important to pay attention to. I also suggested learning from someone who can offer lessons that will help you with this problem. I wasn't trying to explain how to hold the crochet hook. If you understand the position of the hook then you need to practice on how much pressure you are putting on your yarn when releasing your yarn to create even stitches. If you let go of your yarn too much, your stiches will be too big, if restrain your yarn too much then you will not be able to create a stitch. There has to be enough releasing and enough retraining to create even tension is what I meant. Practicing how hard you're sqeezing your yarn at the start of creating a stitch will increase comfort. You have to think of relaxing your yarn. The yarn should glide through and more with rhythm in time as your skill increases.
