I was the guy with the camera onstage, shooting from the side of the piano, sitting on the orchestra first step - what an experience "living" this song in that way, standing between the strings and a superb piano player, feeling that voice from the soul...
Jim Steinman wrote this song as well as all the other tracks on the original Bat album. The words are so spiritual, love it. The original Bat out of hell is an iconic masterpiece.
This song is so beautiful. I can't listen to it without getting teary eyed. I never could. I just sent it to my girlfriend in the hospital, with the brief sentence "This is how I felt the first time I met you!" She is truly the love of my life.
He is in heaven with the great Michael Kamen, who is the conductor of this orchestra, along with many other amazing musicians. They were taken from our world too soon but just imagine what they are doing up there now!
How am I just finding this now?! This is wonderful, thank you! Amazing to hear him singing it with the orchestra and just think: it's a song from an album entitled "Bat Out Of Hell" and yet it fits right in with the vibe of this concert. Just shows how brilliant and timeless Jim Steinman's composing is.
I just adjust the sound level on my computer to be a bit louder and it comes through just fine. This is my favorite live version of this song. I'm glad you posted it.
@JOHNNYM809. MY VERY FAVORITE MEATLOAF SONG. IT WAS ALSO THE VERY FIRST SONG, RECORDED FOR THE BAT OUT OF HELL ALBUM, WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE SPECIAL ON SUCH AN ICONIC ALBUM, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION .
