@@johannesvalterdivizzini1523 It was Karla Devito not Carla Bonoff. Also all the videos from the album that show them live were shot during rehearsal for tour with no audience present. The studio album track was synched to the video. If you watch the video for You Took The Wotds (Right Out Of My Mouth) you can see where the synchronization is off in about 3 spots.

Rocky Horror and Little Shop of Horrors are both musicals, not rock operas. In an "opera" (rock or otherwise), all the dialogue is sung. Conversely a musical is a regular play (or movie) where characters occasionally break out into song. Rocky Horror (Picture) Show is a musical. Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera.

The charisma of the protagonists is so overwhelming that it's easy to overlook how powerful the band is! Let's give a shout out to Todd Rundgren playing guitar, Rundgren's Utopia bandmates Kasim Sulton on bass and Roger Powell on synthesizer, and Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band on piano and drums, respectively.

Even more of a fun fact about Phil Rizzuto. He was given the script and asked if he would read this as a voice- over, which he did. Rizzuto was so straight-laced that they couldn't tell him why they wanted this. He was pretty upset when he found out how they used his work and turned it into a very mature theme! 😂

@@sgtpep When Rizzuto recorded his piece, he was reportedly unaware of how his spoken contribution would be used. When the song broke, Rizzuto said his parish priest called him in shock. However, "Phil was no dummy", said singer Meat Loaf. "He knew exactly what was going on, and he told me such. He was just getting some heat from a priest and felt like he had to do something. I totally understood." Years later, Rizzuto would laughingly retell the story saying he got snookered by Meat Loaf, but he had a good attitude about it and when Meat Loaf asked him to go on tour with him, Rizzuto was flattered but declined, jokingly saying that Cora(Phil's wife) would "kill him" if he did.

I love that you had fun with this song and enjoyed it Bisscute. I love Meatloaf and this song really put him "on the map" but I still think Two Out of Three Ain't Bad is his best, iconic single which showcases his majestic voice. My opinion of course, I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, just my preference. I still love this song and the upbeat tone of the song and the message we can all relate to at some point in our lives, and I love the voice of Meatloaf (of course) but I REALLY LOVE the voice, charisma, facial expressions, and mannerisms of Ellen Foley as well. She just had that look that fit the part perfectly in this song and video. I love the baseball reference in this as well as I was in my teens during the late 80's and after a date my friends would always ask "Did you at least reach 2nd base?" Unfortunately, I usually had to admit "no" as I was a slow runner on the base paths but not my choice of course :(

Have you ever seen the show Married With Children? I've always thought of this as the Al Bundy story. He was a high school football star. His life was planned. College football, maybe a chance to go pro. On the night of the big game, he met the beautiful redhead, Peggy. She got pregnant. He did the right thing and married her. Now he's stuck working in a shoe store. His wife won't work, cook, clean, or watch the kids. It made him a little bitter. If you've never seen the show, there are some great compilation videos available.

Interesting observation!! This could have been my brother's story. He was a star football player, but also an all around athlete (wresting team, shotput on track & field, and he lifeguarded in the summer-phenomenal swimmer). Last football game of his junior year his right knee was so screwed up that he had to give up everything but the lifeguarding. This inspired him to become a physical therapist, a job that he has held for forty years now. So, the injury saved him from selling shoes.

Meatloaf made a deal to show this promo video (not from a real concert) before every showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which he played Eddie. He was a heldentenor and was offered a lot of money to sing opera. The lady in white is Karla DeVito. Her vocals were replaced by the album vocals of Ellen Foley. Karla is a great singer, but Ellen's vocals were perfection. Karla did the concert tour. Karla has been married to actor Robbie Benson since the 1980s. Ellen was a public defender (Billie) in the TV series Night Court. She also appeared in several movies like Cocktail with Tom Cruise. Meat Loaf never considered himself a singer. He always said that he was an actor, that sometimes portrayed a singer. RIP Marvin "Meat Loaf" Aday.

@@simonwinn8757, it's sexual connotation to say, "Let me sleep with you" for her underwear is off as he rounded third base. MEATLOAF tends to have great storytelling in his songs, and the music videos or stage performances tend to enhance his lyrics! 🤟😝 "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" is one of his most iconic Rock Opera music videos, and I hope you will have the time to enjoy and share your reaction to that piece in the future! Until then, ROCK OUT LUV!!! ✌😁

What can be said of meatloaf? Maybe the greatest singer songwriter composer performer ever, at least there with Freddy Mercury, Prince, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Bowie, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc. I believe the album Bat out of hell has been in sales the top 200 every year, since it came out! Thats 50 years !😮😮😮 Its the story of a boys life, to adult middle aged guy. About twenty years after this, he did a followup album, back into hell, also a monster seller! The original video, anything for Love, total classic! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9X_ViIPA-Gc.htmlsi=X6XQ4_-SJs9RNjmU He was also great in movies. The last thing i saw him in was Fight Club and the first thing i saw him in was the cult classic, Rocky Horror picture show! RIP to the great Meatloaf! How big huge influential important was Rocky Horror? There used to be an old school turn of the 1900s theater in Houston called the Alabama Theater. A big screen , big stage in front, various balconies. From the time this movie came out, they would play this at midnight Friday and Saturday night. And dozens of people would come dressed in full costumes, and play and sing every part, on stage and in the aisles, every part, including throwing buckets of water during the rain scenes!😮😮😮 And i think this went in from the 70s through the 90s!!! And in this song, the decades long baseball announcer Phil Rizutto.... meatloaf asked him to come in and do this, he came in, listened to the song twice, wrote his baseball announcer notes down on paper, just a few. And in two more takes, nailed the announcer part!😮😮😮. The amazing thing is, he always said," I'm not a singer, i can't really sing at all. I'm an actor. But when I'm on stage and playing a part, sometimes the characters I play, they can sing!" If u watch his videos from bat out of hell, and how he sings and petforms, u will realize jack black learned everything he knows, from Meatloaf, and even put Meatloaf in his movie, Pick of Destiny! I day this is his writer's version of Phantom of the Opera! When they began filming Rocky Horror, they auditioned tons of singers. No one could clear the diction of each word, because its a musical play. Or if they had diction, they didnt have the air control, and had too many breaks in their singing, between words ir phrases. Meatloaf comes in for the audition. The director and producers tell him the same. He listens to the hardest song played on piano , a couple times, following aling with sheet music. Then he joins the next time its played and nails it. When they are done, he looks at the director and piano player and says, ,"So whats the problem guys?". Classic Meatloaf!

Just about anything in his library is worth listening to. But I personally love Out of the Frying Pan (and Into the Fire), Objects in the Rearview Mirror (May Appear Closer Than The Are) and Good Girls Go to Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere). 😊 All three are from the follow up album Bat Out of Hell 2 (Back Into Hell) in fact there’s only one or two songs from this that I personally don’t enjoy. Give it a listen sometime

Meatloaf... the pinnacle of theatrical, operatic rock and roll. Even Queen with Freddie Mercury couldn't touch his overly dramatic stage presence. Of course, Meatloaf usually added a bit of comedy and satire to the whole thing.

The woman in the video is not the singer. Ellen Foley, who sang on the album, declined to be on the Bat Out Of Hell tour, and Karla DeVito assumed live performance responsibilities, so the music video was created by syncing the video of DeVito's performance to the audio of Foley's vocals.
