I think this version is the best for them. The speed of the lyrics and the play by play section might be difficult if English is not your first language.
I usually hate videos on reaction channels because it's easy for the reactors to fall into the trap of reacting to the video rather than the song. Performance videos are exceptions to this rule, but I can see why lyric videos would be helpful (I've seen some non-american reactors get lost in the whole baseball/sex metaphor). All of that said, I would advise them to watch the video, on their own, to see how much of a performance is going on here beyond the lyrics. It is legitimately musical theater, and very well done, to see the two singers act out the song and react to one another here.
Why for a second did I think I might be disappointed that this wasn't the theatrical stage version? This was not disappointing at all! You two are great! I love the way you appreciate a song! 😊❤
I really enjoyed this reaction with only the lyrics to allow them to formulate their own scene and situation in their heads. The doowop beginning is when they were young, the 70's "spicy" song was the act and the end was them as adults not standing each other trapped in a relationship. Excellent storytelling.
I’ve watched thousands of reaction videos over the last few years including several to this song but I don’t remember enjoying any nearly as much as this. It’s a great song but you two had me grinning and chuckling all the way through.
I first heard this whole .the eighties, and I loved it and laughed. It still makes me laugh, sometimes out loud!!!!. Incredible storytelling. Incredible singing and talent from them both. Never ever be anything like this again. Please keep going through the album. Xx
This was such a trip. I'm actually glad you did a lyric version, you can watch the stage version in your own time later if you like, but for a first listen, you need to get all the lyrics, just my opinion of course. I laughed so hard watching this reaction, thank you. ✌❤
Guys, you really need to watch the video! They act this out and their facial expressions are just fabulous. it's visually so interesting and funny. It adds a lot to the music. So theatrical and over the top!
I love the fact that Dominica seemed to 'get' the meaning and nuances of this song before Andre. We played the whole iconic 'Bat Out of Hell' album endlessly when it first appeard, all classic tracks. Meatloaf had a theatrical background and Jim Steinman was the perfect songwriter for him.
Both Meat Loaf and Ellen Foley came from musical theater, so both were familiar and skilled at delivering that "larger than life" vibe. Lyricist Jim Steinmann's motto was "Too much is never enough."
I had to rewatch this one. 😂 The two of you are so much fun! Dominika, when you explain the baseball metaphor, I thought Andre understood but then it hits him at the end. 😂❤ I love the fact that it's obvious that both of you enjoy reacting equally and one isn't dragging the other along. You play so well off of each other and it's a joy to watch. ❤
It's about an older couple looking back on their first time, :" I remember little everything as if it happened only yesterday " .." it Was long ago and it was far away........."
@salsonny "...oh God, it seems so very far And if life is just a highway Then the soul is just a car And objects in the rear view mirror May appear closer than they are."
Ellen Foley did indeed sing the song, but if you watch the music video it is Karla DeVito who very convincingly lip-sync's the part due to Ellen being unable to tour after landing a role on the television show Night Court!
@@paulmellette8925 I remember watching a reactot who's a vocal coach describing how wonderful Karla was using her mouth breathing and vocal chords not realizing she was lip syncing
I’m SOOO glad that you did NOT watch the performance video of this song first… because the record is so beautifully produced (courtesy of musician/producer extraordinaire Todd Rundgren) and with such vivid imagery as it is without the video…and after the first listen then, sure, watch the performance video😊❤
(fun fact) the baseball radio announcer was a REAL baseball radio announcer !! ... his name was Phil Rizzuto, & he did the radio for the New York Yankees in the 70s
So FUNNY! Watching two people who don't understand baseball that well trying to understand this. The car culture and dating in America is a huge thing. There are so many "Lover's Lanes" in the U.S. I grew up playing both games very well but not without sincerity. The Baseball announcer was a famous one from the age of radio, I believe Phil Risutto, from the NY Yankees' but I could wrong. What a Scream! ( a treat )! Y'all are so funny!
So very glad you did studio version, with lyrics, first... So hopefully later on by popular demand , you can react to Live version...it is epic, like seeing a rock n roll Broadway show, ..❤♥️✌️
Great reaction from you both. Can tell you’re an honest man by your reaction. When you were shouting say yes! I was in stitches knowing what was coming 😂
I loved your reaction you two are so real. So the story goes that Meat Loaf and Jim Steinmann approached Todd Rundgren to produce their album. They said they had the backing of a major record label. Todd said he would then the label pulled out of the deal. Todd believed in the album so much he paid for everything the studio time, the musicians everything. He also brought in he's girlfriend actress, singer Ellen Foley. and played Guitar ,Bass, and sang on the backing tracks. You really need dive in deeper into Todd Rundgren. One of the greatest songwriters of our time.
The genius of Jim Steinman (the writer). He is an amazing writer. He wrote most of Meatloaf's songs. Check out his album Bad for Good. They both started out in the theater as writer and preformer.
LOL.. You two had me laughing all the way, but especially in the last half. I was laughing so much! Oh I needed this good laugh. Thank you so much for reviewing this. The video version is very theatrical, but I'm glad you still got the vibe with the lyric version.
The video is back in 75…it’s a live on stage performance. Let me tell you something thats very true… There are a lot of people who will say this guy was nice etc when remembering someone.in his case? We lost a very special man. He was a genuine soul and he was so very kind and when we saw him in the lobby of the hotel for a concert and we were all saying hey , hi, how are you? Sometimes they don’t want to be bothered and he come over and spent three minutes talking to us. I could tell he was tired When your entire band and the crew, are devastated and say he was the best person to work with. He was so kind and generous and ate with us, etc That says a lot. If you ever watched him interview, he was a good soul. On stage, it was a theater production for him as he was classically trained, and did perform in theater movies….. off stage of very soft-spoken kind man He loved opera and string orchestras and you can hear it in his music
Your reactions are a thing of beauty. Your humanity shines into the camera and out the other side. I think you are both very lovely. I send vibrations on the wind from my bonnie Scotland X
Absolutely brilliant reaction from you two. You entertained me royally. As others have mentioned, if you had watched the video for this you would probably fallen off your chairs laughing. It is also absolutely brilliant.
OMG - SOOOOOOOOOO NEED THE VIDEO for this one!! LOVE THIS SONG!!! With the video - you'll understand our lil' bit of shock when this song came out!! :D :D :D :D :D :D LAUGHED OUR TAILS OFF!!! HUGS, YA"LL!!!
After hearing the song and reading the lyrics, you now know what the song is about, now you really have to watch the official video to complete your experience, you won't regret it.
'For Crying Out Load' by Meatloaf is possibly one of the greatest love songs to be heard. I think you guys would love it! Thanks again for a wonderful reaction!
Your reaction is excellent. I didn’t get all this the first time I heard this song. Now you need to see the video, you both will like it. I mean you both will love the video.
It looks like you two got your fill of excitement with this one. There are so many great songs on this album but I think the nicest one is the last song, For Crying Out Loud. I think you would also love it. The girl singing here is Ellen Foley and she had a hit song with We Belong To The Night which was pretty good.
The voice of the baseball game is the legendary NY Yankees Announcer: Phil Rizzuto. Phil was also a great shortstop for the Yankees in the 1940s, and an MVP of the leadue as well. It was great they got him to do this, and he mentioned the song several times on TV while he was announcing the NY Yankee games. Great Time!
apparently, Meatloaf didn't tell Phil Rizzuto the reason he was recording this baseball play-by-play, because taken out of the context of the song/story the baseball game is entirely plausible; then Rizzuto found out when he heard the song on the radio, but he didn't begrudge Meatloaf for having kept him in the dark about the purpose
they took this original audio of the song, and put it to the video of a live performance, is what people are talking about wishing you did.. but the actual audio to that live performance isnt as good as the original audio.. which this is.. which is why they put this audio to the live performance video.. heheh
I knew this song would get great reactions. I'm still glad I choose the lyric video, it allows you to follow the story and concentrate on the music.🗽🗽🙂🙂🎼🎼🎸🎸
Pleeeeeease do the live video it's like mini opera. If you like he song you'll love the video. It's very funny and it's so theatrical. So please don't miss out on it. I'll be watching for you to do it. I was so excited to see you were doing the song but disappointed to see you weren't watching the video.❤❤❤❤
That is the funniest line I've ever heard on a reaction video... when Dominica said "he wants to sleep on it but he also wants to smell the flower " 😂😂😂 I was crying with laughter. Love you guys, you are funny, smart and very entertaining. Also your love for each other is beautiful to see
Guys, I was having a really challenging day today. And then you guys came into my feed as always, which brought a smile to my face. But not as much as the reaction itself. I've seen so many react to this one, but you guys are just as cool as the other side of my pillow. If I could hang out with two people out of the 8 billion plus, it would be you two. Thanks for that one! Cheers from Toronto Canada. 🤘🎧☮️
You should still react to the official video of this song. We will understand. In fact, many of us of a certain age heard this song before we ever saw the video. And both were unique experiences.
Great reaction as always, I had to bring my wife over to watch again and she too got a real kick out watching you two. Have a wonderful day, maybe go for that drive and make a memory.
This was a fun reaction! Meatloaf was a special music beast. I was a 13 when this came out. I knew what they were talking about, lol. He always had such a variety of music. RIP Meatloaf! ❤❤
A wonderful reaction to an amazing song. So well written, performed and produced. The music and background vocals are perfect for the story. Every time you paused, I smiled. I knew what was ahead. 😆 ☮💜🎶 (Enjoy the drive)
This is my favorite Meatloaf song and I have watched almost every reaction to it here on RU-vid. Your reaction is the best I've seen! If you get a chance, watch the official video, it's so fun! This was an amazing reaction to an amazing song!
