This interview it{s not enough for them, their career was too old and extense and they got payed attention cause of nirvana but even though it's cool we should hear their large career, it's pretty cool, if you have not done it i recommend it, you'll find variety
Mainstream Commercial Nihilism they’ve been around since 1980 with basically the same core members, so not really.. They’re a really good trailblazing timeless rock band to say the least..
...I miss the awkward, non-jaded, non-bitter and slightly nervous Conan O’Brien. Nowadays he just reminds me of an old grumpy bar whore who chain smokes and drinks the yesterday away.
Christopher "Cris" Kirkwood (born October 22, 1960) is an American musician who is the bassist and a founding member of the Meat Puppets, an alternative punk rock band. 63 AÑOS. (64)
what bands ? the only popular acts now are shitty rappers with fuck all brain cells and then industry made pop stars who’s songs make me want to fuckin die. the days bands and genuine music becomes popular again I’ll be so glad
@@lastnamefirst4035 very nice dude. Hadn’t met him when I left this comment, just met him last time the band was in Jersey City I caught them at this place called “Monty Hall”.. believe I have tons of video of that on my page (shameless plug)
Curtis Matthew Kirkwood (born January 10, 1959) is an American musician, best known as the guitarist, singer and primary songwriter for alternative rock group Meat Puppets. 65 AÑOS.
Saw these guys at City Gardens 84ish. Some skinhead in the crowd yelled ‘cut your hair!!’. Instantly guy onstage- ‘I’ll cut my hair when you cut your balls off.’ Skin was quite the rest of the night…
+Eddie Guerrero wow i bet that was interesting. i've heard about the tent city system down there. reminds me of the boot camp system in the south: medieval. he must've been miserable, at least at first.
Yes he was kicking herion, going to the bathroom on himself...he was just a normal person to me, I didn't even know who he was..but he was a very cool guy
Good for you. Hope u are good. I think he is the most warm hearted, caring one of the group. I saw them with Rise to your Knees. He looked so freaking happy to play. He is such a great bass player.
Those of us who've been fans since the early days have had plenty of opportunities to talk to Cris, Curt and Derrick. In my experience they've *always* been uncomfortable with attention and people who are star struck. Cris was always the most outgoing in my experience. I once asked Curt about his influences while talking with he and Cris at their trailer before a show. His answer was very much like what he gave to Conan. Ask Curt about his gear and you might get a different answer.
from what i could find googling around, this performance/interview took place a little less than 2 weeks after cobain's suicide..? the nonshalant nirvana bit strikes me as odd if that's true.
I met Chris back in Dallas a few years back. The dude was awesome and humble. It was cool to talk to him. When I was growing up in the 90's The Meat Puppets were one of my favorites and everything felt verified after meeting Chris.
They have no feelings regarding the success. They are obviously riding the rockstar wave. However, thanks to one band in particular they received serious attention. Sadly it was all a bit difficult to handle.
@distantbeaches lawl, meat puppets rip off Nirvana. That is sad. Meat Puppets have been around far longer than Nirvana and they hve been crafting excellent music for over a decade before nirvana came around. I think it was a legitimate question, but it is hard to answer that because personally I don't think there music sounds very similar. If anything I'd say the heavy rifts is all that Cobain could have taken, or the singing in some cases.
I agree with Curt when he says that he doesn't see much influence from them in nirvana's songs at least sonically but I can see pretty much influence from nirvana in their records from that era trying to get in he mainstream.
@distantbeaches This was only Conan's 2nd year on the air, and to be fair he's a little out of his element here talking about this kind of music. He's gotten A LOT better at interviewing over the 17 to 18 years he's been on television.
goofy meets goofy their music is country Arizona southwestern texmex good tunes heavy country so they can sell a category what's a hit anyway 4th of julyv
Had a chance to see the Pups about mid career living in Phx, pre finger cut, and they always rocked out. Interesting Nirvana was influenced, they are pretty influential!
@@derekmoody1358 pretty alert for heroin. Dont think we know and who cares? Cris had alot of bad stuff happen later on bc of his drug use. Seems to be doing really good today
@@superunknown70 Meat Puppets great. Conan solid too. What is wrong with giving Conan a shout out? Ya know - he had them on his show a few times. Would the late night losers of today do that?
